Sparty Football Players Plead Guilty To "Seducing an Unmarried Woman"

Submitted by Mike Damone on

Sometimes reality truly is stranger than fiction.  Ingham County prosecutors let Corley, King and Vance plead guilty to a law from the 1800's that is still on the books.

If this law was enforced daily - think most guys in college would be prosecuted at one time or another.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but that's a strange comment in a thread about a case where the perpetrators were caught, appropriately removed from the football team, convicted of a crime, and sentenced to some punishment. We can argue over details in this case, and whether they got off easy in their plea deal; however, this doesn't seem to me like a gross miscarriage of justice.

Not to threadjack, but Michigan State University just inked a deal with Amazon for a new docuseries that will be called "The Dog Days of Summer: Disrespect so Sick."

Other antiquated sexual laws on books in certain states---sodomy (includes oral sex), and adultery.  Obviously, these are rarely prosecuted as well.

The hypocrisy in the legal system is AAAAA rated.

At one point weren't one (or all) of them facing potential life in Prison? Although that seemed extreme and we all knew that wouldn't happen, these guys have to be so thankful for the incompetence that has transpired. They are so effin lucky, they will hopefully learn from this. Wouldn't be surprised if D'antoin brings them back to spartan dawg nation

My understanding is that the punishment for seducing an unmarried woman is to be tarred and feathered, branded with an "S," and driven from the village in rags, forced to live on thorns and nettles.

Still better than living in East Lansing.

Comparing this to the Grant Perry situation makes this an even bigger joke.  it seems like they tried to throw the book at the kid and they let these three dirtbages get away w/ pleading to a crime that doesn't even require them to register as sex offenders.

Wow for idiots. What kind of charge is that? What else can your genius lawmakers come up with in Michigan. Good thing I wasn't in high school and college there playing football because there would be a ton of young women charged for seducing an unmarried man/boy. Just the facts guys. It's just the facts.
