Congratulations to msu
As much as I hate it, Dantonio is an incredible coach. 2 conference titles in the last 4 years, a 12 win season this year. Sparty No is dead. The Spartans are not going away.
Dantonio and Urban will be equally as hard to defeat for the near future.
Thank you for shutting up osu, though.

instead of recognizing a good team? Given how MSU's season started, this finish is all the more impressive (meanwhile, we took an almost perfectly opposite trajectory this season).

many here are obsessed with hating and obsessed with "close" victories. Allow the Hoke apologists to say whatever they want
Hats off to MSU and let's hope Michigan can start to play like a champion rather than a middling

MSU was the best team in the conference and they showed it. I don't like them but I respect them.

You don't have to like them, but in this situation you need to show some respect.
Just shut up and let them enjoy their moment.

You're really being obtuse.
December 8th, 2013 at 12:02 AM ^
They did an incredible job improving from what was, literally, a running joke at the beginning of the season. They deserve a lot of credit for this.
December 8th, 2013 at 12:10 AM ^
I can't recall a time I've seen a team improve as much as MSU did over the course of a single season.
That being said, fuck 'em.

How is this being upvoted. Why don't we just start an Ohio State appreciation thread as well?
December 8th, 2013 at 12:15 AM ^
1. They won the conference, time to admit they were the best team in the conference this season.
2. It prevents Ohio State from being embarrassed in a national title game by 3-4 scores.
3. Gives the B1G a fighting chance to look good come bowl season.
4. If it wasn't Michigan in the B1G Champ game I would hope anyone but Ohio would win.
December 8th, 2013 at 12:22 AM ^
It prevents Ohio from getting a chance at a MNC against a team that may be nearly as overrated as they are.
Not saying FSU is overrated for sure, but I'm not sold yet given their schedule. I would give Ohio at least 50-50 odds to win against FSU, and I can't think of anything worse than a Ohio NC, even if mythical.
December 8th, 2013 at 12:36 AM ^
Did you watch FSU completely destroy Clemson? Clemson is better than any team OSU, MSU, or UM played this year.
December 8th, 2013 at 12:53 AM ^
I saw that, but Clemson has proven to be somewhat overrated as well. As I said, I'm not saying FSU isn't elite, just that I'm not convinced. In one game anything could happen, and Ohio obviously has a lot of talent. So I'm thrilled Sparty has spared us all that possibility.

MSU kicked our butt this year, they proved OSU was overrated. They are clearly the best big ten team congrats to them.

nothing having to do with developing players.. you actually think a team in michigan who started more freshman than every in michigan history would compete with a team (msu) who has 15/24 of their seniors that play are all 5th year seniors..
We have a bunch of freshman and redshirt freshman playing at most of our important positions
December 8th, 2013 at 12:48 AM ^
There's no logic in saying we don't "develop" our underclassmen.
Maybe we should have an assistant coach travel around the high schools to coach up our likely recruits.

Can we end the "not developing players" myth? The defense has 2 or 3 all-american candidates coming back next year who will probably be drafted in the first 3 rounds. The offense has one of the best QBs in the conference (and was playing WR 14 months ago) plus a sophomore WR/TE that nobody could consistently defend.
How about the development of Schofield? What about Brendan Gibbons, Thomas Gordon, Jibreel Black, and Jeremy Gallon? Michigan could have 3-5 players drafted this year, the most in a long time. That doesn't happen without a player progressing.
The only issue of "development" was the double-whammy of a lot of youth in the midst of a scheme change on the OL. It happens. That doesn't mean that UM isn't developing its players.
