Can we start talking Connecticut

You are correct. Some people just don't seem to pay attention. The "free donuts at noon games" was announced back in April as an incentive to get students to line up early for general admission. It was not a commentary on the quality of Akron as an opponent.

The OP states:
I think we should all agree that we shouldn't look at any opponent from now on as a 'Glazed Doghnut', Cup cake or any other fun edible item.
In my eyes, that particular line insinuates that Hoke's words were intentionally meant to demean Akron - and that's not the case. But this is the interwebz, and context is sometimes difficult to nail down.

I was agreeing with you (see the first line: "You are correct"). I think many people, the OP included, didn't pay attention when the program was announced back in April and thus they erroneously thought Hoke's reference to a "glazed donut game" was meant to be an insult to Akron. It was not. The Game may very well be a "glazed donut game" this year.

Yup...I was confirming your agreement! We're on exactly the same page. I was just reiterating that the OP seemed to be going down the slippery slope of claiming our head coach likes to call supposedly inferior opponents glazed donuts, when nothing could be further from the truth.

Yes, I would be happy to stop talking about how our team - which destroyed CMU (a better team that Akron) and pretty soundly beat ND (a WAY better team than Akron) is now complete shit, with the worst offensive and defensive lines in the world, a terrible OL coach and going to go down the road of the 2010 team.
We played a stinker of a game. It happens to every good team, and it is usually a huge building block for the team. We had just come off of a (1) massively-hyped, (2) 8:15 pm. (3) under the lights game (4) in front of the largest crowd ever to watch a college football game, (5) in an environment that was electric for 24 hours leading (6) against one of our greatest rivals, (7) which was the College Gameday game of the week.
Coming off of that, they were then about to play . . . Akron, at noon, in front of the first non-sellout crowd in the Big House since 2001. Brian couldn't even bring himself to write a real preview for this game. Fans couldn't even be bothered to show up.
None of these are excuses, but for a VERY young team, this game had all of the makings of a classic trap game. Sucks, but it happens. It doesn't however, suddenly mean that we forgot how to play football and are a terrible team.
As long as we rebound against UConn, we will be fine.

but I hope the team comes out pissed. Frank Clark isn't going to magically become Brandon Graham this week, but I hope we blow the doors off UConn regardless of our issues. We need to regain some mojo

I too hope this. I think it looks like a big slap in the face to have the 8:00pm time slow against a team which you should beat soundly. I think every "expert" will have UofM on upset alert after last week and ABS/ESPN is trying to rack in the viewer numbers due to it.
With how UofM should play and the quality of oppponent this game should be a 3:30 start on ESPN2 or BTN....

On the flip side, having the game at 8pm in a primtime slot may give our players some extra motivation to not let this game get by them. A lot of people will be watching.

Not sure if anyone else is seeing this but my DirecTV guide is saying I'll be getting the KSU vs Texas game. I hope it changes and the Michigan game will be on.

Gotta feel for UConn...they're about to get the frustrated, abusive, alcoholic father treatment on Saturday. No red-headed stepchild (or Husky) is safe!!!

Does the ESPN2 reverse mirror of B1G ABC regional games still hold for prime-time games? I'm stuck in Big 12 country so we're getting Texas-K-State on ABC.

We are the only team in all of FBS without a sack. Not one.
We lost to Towson.
We are below 100 in Total Offense and Total Defense.
We all agree the coach stinks.
We all agree the conference stinks.
But Saturday, we get Michigan at home, so I'm going to try and enjoy what is sure to be a brutal, brutal beating.
