Which team do you like to watch play - hoping they will lose

Submitted by mGrowOld on

As suggested by Butterfield here is my personal "Top 10" of viewing hate:

1. Notre Dame - I simply dislike everything about them and their fans

2. Penn State - Their unbelievable fan denial and "we're the victim here" attitude post Sandusky changed me from respect to hate.

3. Michigan State - Used to be #2.  Still love watching them find new and creative ways to lose

4. USC - Lane Kiffin, the stupid horse, the stupid fight song, the stupid "V" where they don't really make a V - more of a lazy peace sign and their stealing not one but TWO Rose Bowls from Bo thanks to the Pac 10 officiating crew

5. Florida - Miami - Florida State - Axis of evil.  Always overrated, always boring to watch

8. Texas - Notre Dame lite fanbase

9. Ohio State - I actually like beating them more when they have a good record but watching them lose is fun none-the-less.  Their ranking will go higher next year when we're in the same division.

10. Any SEC team playing out of conference - Because obviously

What's yours?

1: Notre Dame - As far back as the sixities when they could field 22 crippled grandmothers in wheel chairs and enjoy a top ten preseason ranking. When breathless sports announcers would watch the game turn against them and explain how ND could alter their tactics to stage a come back. The whole "God's team" nonsense. On top of all of that media butt licking, their alums all seem to feel that their bodily effluvia is a heady perfume for the rest of humanity. This is an easy school to despise at all levels.

2: MSU -  Until the coming of Dantonio ND was the only team I truly enjoyed watching lose. His unapologetic creation of a thug football program at MSU has given me another football program to despise, and I will enjoy watching ANY program coached by Dantonio lose.

...and reverse it, pretty much.

Maybe it comes from living abroad for many years.  But then I seem to have relatives, friends who are ND, PSU, MSU grads and fans, and- believe it or not- they are actually half decent,  and humble (though can't say that for the USC, OSU and Texas grads I know).

Oh, yeah, gotta stick Oklahoma in there somewhere.  `

Really, it's a very good day when any SEC team loses to an outsider, especially a team from a...blue state.

If we are talking basketball, certainly all ACC teams should be near the top of that list.

But I assume you are talking purely college football, or otherwise the Yankees, Cowboys, Lakers, NASCAR and soccer would definitely be on there.

Apparently unlike many, I just do not care enough about Sparty to actively watch them and root against them.  If I happen to see them lose, I may laugh.

Mostly, I just root for big upsets and hope that Michigan and Ohio State are both undefeated come November.
