Thoughts on Denard Robinson

D. Rob is going to be fine at QB. I keep seeing people saying that he really showed yesterday that he can't be a passing QB and will only be a runner. As Michigan fans, we have to remember that this kid has only been in the system for a matter of weeks. Yesterday was his third game and he's seen very limited action. He does have wheels like I've never seen before - but I think he's going to be an effective passer at some point in his career.

I've been wrong about Denard . . . when I said that Forcier would/should be the starter? . . . when I said that Denard's rushing stats in high school weren't outstanding? (I think I said he averaged 4.7 ypc or something and he actually averaged 5.2 ypc, or something to that effect.) You're right. You got me. I'm completely wrong about Denard Robinson because I shorted him half a yard when talking about his high school statistics.

These have probably already been said in one form or another: 1. He's a true freshman. As far as his passing game goes, this is the norm for true freshman. Tate is the exception. 2. He is one hell of a running-spread QB, already. M should have incredible flexibility as to what kind of offense they want to run based on the opponent and game situation: an Oklahoma style throwing spread or a West Virgina style running spread. Both can be effective and I don't know why you'd want to mess with either.

"Superior, they said, never gives up her dead. When the gales of november come early!" Could be some conditions coming up here in the not to distant future where the team is facing a stiff wind or some other inclement condition for a quarter or two. In this scenario passing the ball may be difficult, and it would be beneficial to have a lightening bolt in blue on hand to run some option football.

We're drawing conclusions about Denard's readiness to play QB based on EIGHT pass attempts, scattered over three games? What? We're saying that Denard can be contained by a competent defense based on a four carry day where he still averaged 5 ypc? What? We're saying that the offense bogs down when Denard is in there based on .... oh I give up. This is ridiculous.
