Jackson needs to dive for the flyball in the top of the 10th, i mean come on worst case it gets by him and the guy ends up on second or maybe third, which wouldn thave mattered because the next guy got out. Then during his at bat he's just chewing away on tobacco as if its batting practice or something and strikes out on an emberassing swing.

It was 10 feet in front of him because he slowed down after he decided he wasn't going to dive for it

Feel so bad for Mike Ilitch especially, poor guy will probobly never win a world series.
October 29th, 2012 at 12:03 AM ^
was the Tigers didn't set the lowest batting average in World Series history. At least I think they did, if not well yes, fuck everything
October 29th, 2012 at 12:05 AM ^
It's kind of absurd how kicking ass the LCS is actually detrimental to your chances in the World Series. And there's really no way to prevent it. It's not like anyone would dare throw a game and extend the series. Year after year, I become more and more convinced that the playoff format for American sports is just ridiculous.
October 29th, 2012 at 12:09 AM ^
How would you improve it? A 1-game series for baseball would be out of the question. And you can't control how the other team wins it.
October 29th, 2012 at 12:19 AM ^
That way the longest possible layoff is 3 days,
And a one game series is only out of the question because we are so far off the deep end. Baseball did just fine with a one game series for like, 70 years? So yea.
Another huge factor is that playoffs = $. That's the only reason for these pointless expansions.

Year after year, I become more and more convinced that the playoff format for American sports is just ridiculous.Didn't the Tigers have the worst record of any team in the playoffs? It's not like they were a colossal favorite that got upset.

Tigers season as a whole has to be considered somewhat of a dissapointment, right? Lost 74 games this year in the worst division in baseball after all the hype, barely got into the playoffs and were swept in the World Series. So basically we played well for a 9 game stretch this year in ALDS and ALCS and that's about it...

Yeah I'm really worried about a team like the Yankees (who have piss-poor starting pitching) throwing the bank at Anibal.
But my offseason would be: sign Sanchez, look at SS, bullpen, call Hamilton? The guy's got issues, but if he could keep it together for a year, then we would have a lineup with Miggy, Fielder, V-Mart, and Hamilton. Filthy filthy filthy.
Oh and says thanks for the ALCS to Delmon, here's your ring now get outta here
October 29th, 2012 at 12:46 AM ^
I'm actually not worried about the Yankees signing him I read a story a few weeks ago on MLBTR and the Royals were very interested in Anibal and their ownership has stated they were going to spend money on their rotation this off-season.
Totally agree on Delmon, with V-mart coming back he doesn't have a spot on this roster, we'll always have his postseason success against the Yanks and he's basically the anti A-Rod when it comes to the postseason in general.
Please god no on Hamilton, I don't want his endless excuses of quitting chewing tobacco/caffeine/lost contacts for the reasons he went into deep slumps. He's 32 and on the downside of his career he's not worth what the open market will dictate.
Peralta's option is debatable, there is no other SS free agent that's worth a damn so if they get a SS it will have to come via a trade. Bullpen and corner outfielding are the biggest needs IMO.

Dombrowski did a hell of a job patchworking together a team that was much better then the April, May and June Tigers (which were incredibly disappointing).
Infante, Sanchez were great moves and Berry, Garcia were brought up because the guys they were really counting on to play well (Bosch expecially) weren't.
There's no way in May you could have convinced me the Tigers would be here today.

this one, I can't celebrate with the rest of SF. Was not meant to be. I am a sad Tigers fan tonight. (So much for the "perfectly hedged" World Series.)

Dammit. That is all. Lets get Hockeyy going so another Detroit team can be successful. Great year Tigers, just ran into a buzz saw.
