Where do you tailgate when the golf courses are closed?
My group has a preferred tailgate location on the U of M golf course. It's a little bit of a hike to the stadium, but there is an abundance of spots where you can back up to trees or fairways and the parking attendents are generally pretty passive. Unfortunately, it looks like weather might force an alternate location Saturday.
In the past, we've used the Salvation Army lot as our back up. It's only $20 to park and you can get there as early as you want (plus they let you use their bathrooms), but the atmosphere is rather dull... so I'm looking for some alternate suggestions.

My mom's house is a little inconvenient for tailgating purposes.
Just sayin'

Grass Lot across from the golf course. Just south of the retirement home. $20. There's also a church just a little further up that gets either $20 or $30, depnding on the game, I think. Grass lot won't park you in and allows just about any setup you want, tailgate wise.

The Blue Lot isn't really a viable back up as it is permit only.
If you care to share, what does a season pass cost for the Blue Lot?

But the Blue Lot capacity will be greatly diminished for (at least) the AFA game. Last year, the PDC contruction closed off a significant portion of the lot. This year, in addition to the PDC footprint, the Crisler renovation is taking up an even larger footprint. See http://www.mgoblue.com/genrel/060109aad.html. All those spaces will obviously be shifted elsewhere.
BTW...the PiHi grass/yard sucks.

Car... $320
RV... $1280
I think you have to have a minimum of 400 or so points to get into the lot. I knew a guy who just got kicked out after 15 years of being there because he only had 320 points. DB in the house bitches!

Purple lot was like $280 last year for an auto. Now you have to be someone that contributes thousand of dollars a year or you don't qualify for the purple lot even though it was about half empty last year. I assume same goes for the blue lot. I wouldn't park in any lot associated with Uof M any more. I'll pay a private owner.

run by Ann Arbor Pioneer and not U of M?

Yeah it's run by Pioneer but you have to have UofM Victor club points to get a season pass. I've had a pass ever since they have been issuing them but this year they said no. I have accumulated a lot of points over the years with smaller contributions plus the seat fee for 4 seats. Still not enough for them. So screw em.

If we lose? Jail.
If we win? Bar. Then jail.

I'm a fan of tailgating on students' lawns north of the athletic complex, between Hoover and Hill somewhere. Atmosphere is buzzing, they don't charge as much as the golf course, and you can hear the band practice if you start early enough.

You pony up your $20K and party in the Champions East or North lot like the rest of the worthy. Stop acting like a 99 percenter.

I'd just pull up onto a random front lawn/rear parking lot of a central campus student house. They'll probably give you some free beer and/or drugs if you play it cool. Win-win.

I almost always park in someone's yard on Pauline (off Main, just north of the Stadium). The atmosphere is pretty good, and for $20 you can be a block or so from the stadium. The northwest gate is rarely super busy. I can leave my tailgate spot at 2:55 for a 3:30 game and be in my seat in the SW corner in time for the band's entrance.
