I think I would enjoy softball 10x more if it weren't for all the cheers and chants from the dugout. I have to put it on mute. Go Blue.
I am not fond of them either. However, it is a part of the game.
In high school, I hated when we had a baseball game at the same venue of the softball team. They would always come over and watch our game after theirs was done and they were so loud and annoying. Now, I've always been more responsive to criticism than encouragement, but still.
One need only look at the batting averages to see how inaccurate that is. Softball is all about speed and putting pressure on the defense, especially at this level. Much better than fielding a groundball, pounding the ball into the glove five times and still getting the runner by 3 steps, in my opinion.
extra innings 1-1
okay ladies let's win in in the bottom of the eighth
We got a gift there.
what Hutch was thinking there. I would have used a PB and bunted Ashley over. I would have used Blanchard.
We're gonna get Blanchard right here.
MGOBLOG during the game?
Game over.
HBP on first pitch.
Yep. A pinch-hitter was hit on the first pitch with the bases loaded. Say goodnight.
(thanks for the explanation)
Just turned it on before penalty kicks.... and walk off, bases loaded, hit by pitch! Go Blue!
we scored on a HBP and a bad call.
She moved her elbow OVER the plate. That might have been a strike.
I am not sure what you saw, but it looked to me like she didnt move at all and just let it hit her elbow.
I thought she moved her elbow a bit, but it sure wasn't going to be a strike. They weren't calling strikes on pitches up above the nipples.
did you really intend to say nipples or did you intend to say "above the letters"?
I meant what I said. I've used that in hockey before, when a referee calls a contact-to-head penalty, when the player was actually hit in the chest. I've told the referee that I didn't realize a person's head was located between his nipples.
So, no, that was not intended as a sexist comment, if that's where you're going.
you made a sexist comment. I was using a play on words. +1 to you.
Next time I will use /s.
No problem. In a situation like this, you can't be too careful. I thought I might have to explain that one eventually.
scooorrreee!!!!
It wouldn't have been called a strike and she kind of turned her elbow.
Grats Ladies! Man that's got to hurt getting hit in the elbow like that, way to take one for the team!
I'll take it but you do feel for Louisville a bit. Let's not give it back tomorrow
You do?
Thats playing some team ball. She thought about getting out of the way, and then kind of leaned and stuck her elbow out. When people say "take one for the team." That's the kind of thing they're referring too. Hail.
Heyo! HBP for the win!
They said after the game that it is a rule change this year. Last year they would have had to stay.
Missed call third out on tag at third and HBP on strike over plate. Sucks to be Louisville.
Hard to top getting the inning extended on a bad call and then scoring the winning run on a HBP. But the bigger story is that Wagner has thrown two good games in a row against tough opponents. If she can hold teams to 1-3 runs a game, this team can keep going.
First SB game i got to watch all year and it was a pretty good game to start off with. #GoBlue
1) Michigan wins on a walk-off HBP
2) TV coverage constantly showing LARGE red bloated object situated behind and to the left of home plate
HUGE win, even if it took a bit of luck to get there. Now if Haylie can just cut down those 7th inning mistakes, or if we can build up a bit bigger of a lead ...
That was for sure an ump win, lane was out at 3rd and the pinch hitter moved her elbow in a little but i'll take it.
