OT: Justin Turner to Akron?
Was reading the local paper and came across this article saying that now there's speculation Justin Turner won't be going to Hawaii. Regardless of where he ends up I wish him the best and am anxious to see him play some football and see how he pans out.
"As recently as December, Turner, who starred at defensive back, was expected to end up at the University of Hawaii after orally committing Dec. 4, according to reports. Apparently, however, that has fallen through leaving the Zips as a viable option."

Oops
Is he still eligible to play football? He feels like Robbie Hummel I think he would qualify as a freshmen play wise but he should be graduated by now if he has been in school(s). What a crazy saga.
He was in the class of 2009, so he would be a redshirt junior this year. Since he's coming from a lower division, he'll be eligible to play immediately in 2012 and 2013.
Turner appears to be one of them. Hope he eventually finds success whatever he does.
I don't have enough points to post this as a new thread.
I spoke with Justin today. He intends to play this fall at Walsh University in Canton, Ohio--just up the road from his hometown of Massillon.
Walsh used to be an NAIA school, but is now DII and in the GLIAC south division.
He apparently has two seasons of eligibility left in DII. My understanding is that the clock rule is different so he would only have one season in DI.
Just to further put this in perspective, there are probably six or eight football stadiums in Stark County ohio that are bigger than Walsh's, including Massillon's Paul Brown Stadium where he played HS ball and North Canton Hoover high school's stadium down the road from Walsh. Pretty big drop-off from the Big House. Hope it works out for him, though. I'm sure the Walsh coaches are thrilled!
