OT: Wings v. Nashville Game One Open Thread

Submitted by justingoblue on

Hopefully the start of another great run for the Red Wings. Feeling like I'm supporting them by eating Little Ceasars and drinking Oberon.

GO WINGS!!!

The worst part of all this, besides the lucky ass bounces, and the #gongshow officiating; is that despite Weber slamming Z's head into the glass as the game ended nothing is going to happen to him, and everyone will just ignore it

I will have lost any remaining respect for the NHL as a league, Bettman is at that game if he wants to avoid "head injuries" this is the easiest decision to make.  There is no place in any sports at any level for disguisting actions like that.  How honestly can someone slam someone's head into the glass without getting suspended.

Weber is the biggest piece of shit on the planet right now, he can go fuck himself with that fucking Tootoo whistle.  Fuck Nashville.  Rant over.

They better fucking suspend Weber and look at that Bourque hit closely as well. I doubt Rene gets suspended, but that Weber bullshit should merit at least a 1 game suspension. Fucking ass hole.

Wont happen... That wings team had guys like McCarty, Kocur, Shanny who all could handle dropping the gloves and defending not just themselves but other skilled guys on the team.  This team has become SOFT. The other western conference teams know it and have taken advantage of it over the past 3-4 seasons.  When Nik Kronwall is your "physical player" your team has serisous playoff question marks.  Wings need to find guys like David Backes, Scott Hartnell, other guys who are skilled while making guys answer for doing stuff like Weber did.

Blown call on the ice. That's a game misconduct at the absolute least; if Zetterberg goes down, there's no complaints at a match being called. Obviously thankful that isn't the case, but there was no point to that play besides attempting to injure the closest star opponent.

Hopefully Shanahan ends this clowns season and then Kronwall has something to say to him early in the 2012-2013 season.

Predators Coach Barry Trotz said Weber was retaliating for Zetterberg’s initial shot, adding that he saw Detroit forward Todd Bertuzzi land a shot on Paul Gaustad.

“Zetterberg hit him in the head first,” Trotz said. “It wasn’t much there. I mean, I was watching the scrum right after that with Bertuzzi and Gaustad, and Bertuzzi comes in with a big-time haymaker. I watched the first one, I just think Zetterberg was getting tired at the end and knew Webs was there and the game was over.”

I understand now... the victim of the assault is to blame. Silly me, here I thought it was Weber that was at fault... what with him using Z's head, to crack the Plexiglas and all. I guess it just goes to show, your eyes can misinterpret what you see.
