Normally I wouldn't post something this OT, but ESPN just reported it so I figured it's big enough news.

It's a lot less sad when someone does it to himself/herself IMHE. I find it absolutely fucking horrific and terrifying when bad things happen to good people through no fault of their own. That is always sad.
This situation, while somewhat tragic and sad on some level, also has a simple explanation that any prudent mind can decipher long before it reaches the point of death.

It is a shame she died so young....had an amazing voice. I attended a concert of hers and her voice was simply incredible.
I think that there are people who have something in their genetic makeupthat leads to addiction, both for illegal drugs and/or for alcohol, which, for many people is just as dangerous as most pf the illegal drugs out there. You are right, the war on drugs doesn't work.

Why does everyone who mentions cocaine think they are God's gift to humour? Seriously, a great singer died, don't be an asshole about it. It's not clever and it's not original.

i truly feel badly for her family and friends (especially her daughter) but is anyone truly surprised by what happened? she had a long history of substance abuse. i assume she made attempts to rehabilitate herself but was ultimately unsuccessful. i really wonder about the people around her who enabled her to use drugs and looked the other way in order to stay on the gravy train.
on a related note, i feel worse for the family of (author) jeff zaslow who died yesterday in an automobile accident. he was a good man who contributed in the field of literature and lived a clean life. he leaves a wife and three daughters.

My little brother asked me who is Whitney Houston. My reply was that she was the original rihanna. Got beat up by her boyfriend with the last name Brown.
I then explained that she was the most decorated female pop singer of all time. Had a great superbowl moment and killer movie with kevin kostner.
