OT: Lions-Saints Playoff Game Open Thread
OK, this other games sucks, so get all your positive Lion talk in now, since not being able to hold a 2nd string QB to under 40 has probably killed any chance of seeing the Lions win their second playoff game in most of our lifetimes. At least I'm not still in New Orleans for it.

January 7th, 2012 at 10:46 PM ^
and the Saint fans.
January 7th, 2012 at 10:46 PM ^
maybe next year one of our first 2 string running backs will actually be able to play and give us a running game
January 7th, 2012 at 10:47 PM ^
Gunther Cunningham needs be fired in Hart Plaza tomorrow and the Lions should hire Vince McMahon to do the honors.

Seriously: What the hell happened to Detroit's supposedly fearsome DL? They haven't stopped anyone in weeks.
January 7th, 2012 at 10:51 PM ^
They're being HELD!!!
I know it sounds like a cheap excuse, but this is incredibly egregious. Suh and Fairley came to play tonight. The refs have decided that absolutely nothing will be flagged on New Orleans' O-Line.
January 7th, 2012 at 10:52 PM ^
They're being sat on by the Saints offensive linemen while the refs look the other way.
January 7th, 2012 at 10:47 PM ^
Well, the season was fun. Sucks to lose to the Saints given how mediocre they really are without the three extra helpers in black and white on the field. Get some DBs, hope LeShure works out, and watch out for next year.
January 7th, 2012 at 10:47 PM ^
Fuck the Lions. They're killing themselves when they do get the chance to take advantage of no bad calls.
January 7th, 2012 at 10:47 PM ^
makes me think of the Sugar Bowl when UM couldn't get off the field on 3rd down. Lots of time left though.
January 7th, 2012 at 10:48 PM ^
Now that I have conceded defeat some rationality has taken over. The saints were always going to put up big yards on us. They're too good not to. The defense just isn't making plays when they're given the opportunity. If you get handed two interceptions you can't drop them. Gotta make plays to win in the playoffs. How far is LSU's secondary expected to fall in the draft?
January 7th, 2012 at 10:48 PM ^
since Michigan in 2010.
January 7th, 2012 at 10:48 PM ^
Fuck you, Drew Brees.
January 7th, 2012 at 10:48 PM ^
I'm embarrassed
January 7th, 2012 at 10:48 PM ^
HAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHA KILLSHOT! way to go announcers
January 7th, 2012 at 10:49 PM ^
As soon as Brees pump faked I knew that was gonna be ugly

That's a Worst Waldo if I ever saw one.
January 7th, 2012 at 10:49 PM ^
enjoy the rest of the weekend guys.
January 7th, 2012 at 10:49 PM ^
lions will go undefeated next year and be prime super bowl contenders, blowing out everyone they play. and then the world's gonna end next december.
January 7th, 2012 at 10:49 PM ^
OK who put GERG in charge of the defense?
January 7th, 2012 at 10:50 PM ^
I guess it's the ref's fault that there wasn't anyone in the camera shot for that last 56 yard touchdown pass. /s
January 7th, 2012 at 10:52 PM ^
Talk about the refs on that particular disaster? Didn't think so.
January 7th, 2012 at 10:53 PM ^
January 7th, 2012 at 10:54 PM ^
Suggests that maybe everyone's complaints have been evenly divided between the refs and the Lions' secondary.
January 7th, 2012 at 11:20 PM ^
Because of course all complaints must be based on the same criteria.
January 7th, 2012 at 10:52 PM ^
Oh shut up.
January 7th, 2012 at 10:54 PM ^
They gave up.
Wouldn't you?
January 7th, 2012 at 10:54 PM ^
A blown coverage in the 4th quarter doesn't have anything to do with a terrible call in the 3rd quarter.
January 7th, 2012 at 11:02 PM ^
You wouldn't know that by all the crying in here though.
Bad calls happen. It's sport. Athletes know that. By way of comaprison, my U14 team doesn't whine about blown calls as much as the cowards in here.
So using your logic, if there was one bad call (again, given the level of bellyaching in here, you'd think it was the whole game), in the 3rd quarter, then what is the excuse for the other 59+ minutes then?
The cowards in here can neg bang me all they want... just look at all the whining in this thread. You cannot deny it's there. The fact of the matter is the refs had NOTHING to do with the game. This loss is solely the Lions' fault,.
January 7th, 2012 at 11:16 PM ^
Because calls were blown. Was it THE reason the Lions lost? No. But you can't deny that two bad calls more than likely cost the Lions a TD, a stop on a drive that led to a TD, and a 4th down stop in Saint territory, among other calls. And those took place at a point in the game where the outcome was very much in doubt.
The Lions didn't tackle well enough to win. The secondary didn't play well enough to win. But that's not how it works. A team doesn't need to DESERVE a win in order to win. Michigan was outplayed in the Sugar Bowl, but they still won the thing.
The refs definitely had something to do with the outcome.
January 8th, 2012 at 12:40 AM ^
No you didn't so STFU!
January 7th, 2012 at 10:50 PM ^
They're playing for the cover now.
<br>
<br>How do you get that wide open?
<br>
<br>Only three and a half months till the draft.
January 7th, 2012 at 10:51 PM ^
That reminded me of that playoff game against GB many moons ago, when they lost on a wide-open TD like that.
January 7th, 2012 at 10:53 PM ^
Kick us while we're down jeez
January 7th, 2012 at 10:52 PM ^
lions first pick of the 2012 draft take justin blackmon! cmon down receivers one and all!
January 7th, 2012 at 10:52 PM ^
Drew Sharp will probably write a column that the Lions should never have made the playoffs, which will tip the ire of Lions fans and MIGHT get the Freep to give him the boot. One can hope
January 7th, 2012 at 10:54 PM ^
Oh, he'll definitely write that column, and will cause an outcry, but the Freep will love it - it'll mean a ton of pageviews.
January 7th, 2012 at 10:55 PM ^
"Frauds" extensively in this piece.
January 7th, 2012 at 11:03 PM ^
Over/Under?
January 7th, 2012 at 10:53 PM ^
For everyone saying the Lions only have themselves to blame for these defensive mistakes, you know damn well that if the Lions had a greater lead the calls against them would only be more blatant.
By any means necessary...
