Oregon-Cal Open Thread
Thursday night game, and I'm excited to see Oregon/James on offense. 57ppg!?!?! This should be fun.
On another note, does anyone know of a good bar in the University of Cincinnati area for the Michigan game on Saturday? The bar on the Michigan barfinder is out of business.

We aren't going anywhere in the long term by having teams ranked better than Michigan lose without winning.....but it can't hurt
October 6th, 2011 at 9:30 PM ^
Cal's unis are fresh. Love the all white.
October 6th, 2011 at 9:41 PM ^
Agreed. Great look.
October 6th, 2011 at 9:05 PM ^
Two huge plays for Cal. Oregon's defense is doing less than I thought they would so far.
October 6th, 2011 at 9:07 PM ^
I have to give it up for you being a man of your word. Creating a different thread instead of trolling on a baseball thread like some clowns. Well played.
October 6th, 2011 at 9:12 PM ^
I wouldn't want to go piss a bunch of baseball fans off while they're watching something they like. That just wouldn't be fair to anyone.

On oregon's uniforms... Not very intimidating.

These Oregon uniforms are the best I have seen from them in a while. I am not a fan of the weird combinations they usually cook up. These look clean and classic. Oh, and go Cal!
October 6th, 2011 at 9:09 PM ^
I hate Oregon's outfits!
October 6th, 2011 at 11:48 PM ^
Outfits? Really?
October 6th, 2011 at 9:12 PM ^
Also, some good UC bars are the Mad Frog, or Uncle Woody's (but they are student hangouts). I'd take a taxi downtown and go to the Holy Grail (just west of Great American Ballpark). I like watching games there, and it won't be too crowded since the Reds are done and done.
October 6th, 2011 at 9:15 PM ^
I'm a senior in college so being a student bar isn't a bad thing. Does Woody's have TV's? The only time I was there I was fairly wasted, but I don't remember seeing a place to watch sports.
October 6th, 2011 at 9:30 PM ^
Doesn't it seem a little weird to watch Michigan from a place called "Woody's"?
October 6th, 2011 at 9:31 PM ^
From what I've seen being in that area a few times, I'd be surprised if Uncle Woody's was named after Hayes.
October 6th, 2011 at 9:59 PM ^
I don't care whether it is name after him or not, still too close for my tastes.
October 6th, 2011 at 9:14 PM ^
See the "Hail" shirt in the crowd?
October 6th, 2011 at 9:28 PM ^
sure did! Go Blue!
October 6th, 2011 at 9:16 PM ^
Oregon is going to roll thru this conference, with the exception of stanford. No one else has a chance of stopping their running game.
October 6th, 2011 at 9:17 PM ^
Dude is nasty
October 6th, 2011 at 9:25 PM ^
Besides of course James, I'm interested in seeing Keenan Allen #21 the WR on Cal, and DeAnthony Thomas #6 on Oregon also WR, some future studs in the Pac-12.
October 6th, 2011 at 9:34 PM ^
Cal's punt formation - the exact opposite of ours. No one next to the long snapper on either side.
October 6th, 2011 at 9:49 PM ^
You can watch the end of Mentor (featuring Tom Strobel) and Solon live here:

Sorry to hijack the thread, don't have enough points to start my own.
October 6th, 2011 at 10:11 PM ^
Zapien is that you?
October 6th, 2011 at 10:14 PM ^
I posted this on twitter, but I'm pretty damn sure Tacopants plays for Cal.
Seriously.
October 6th, 2011 at 10:16 PM ^
54 yard FG....Nice!!
October 6th, 2011 at 10:19 PM ^
Sweet!
October 6th, 2011 at 10:21 PM ^
Anyone else surprised by this? I hope Oregon loses of course for M's sake.
Also, why do coaches not understand when to go for two and when not to? Middle of the second quarter, you're winning, and you go for two points. There is no need to go for it now. You only go for it when you HAVE to. Those attempts should be saved for the fourth quarter.
October 6th, 2011 at 10:34 PM ^
Way OT but if you watch the Notre Dame time lapse video on the main board you can see the one and only Lloyd Brady at about 2:42
October 6th, 2011 at 10:47 PM ^
15-14 Cal at the half. Suprising. I wonder how Oregon will adjust at the half.
October 6th, 2011 at 10:50 PM ^
How ridiculous would a backfield with Denard and LaMichael James be? That's all I can think of while I'm watching this. He's soooooo damnnnnnn fast.
October 6th, 2011 at 11:07 PM ^
Yeah he is. But at the same time he looks quciker and more elusive than just straight up fast.
October 6th, 2011 at 11:17 PM ^
He's just an outstanding RB. Imagine our receiver's numbers with a backfield with those two. Roundtree/Hemingway would average like 30 yards a catch. Not to mention the thought of a zone read would send every DC in the conference into shock.
I'll stop gushing now.
October 6th, 2011 at 11:25 PM ^
Thats would be amazing........ you cant defened that without giving up something in return.
October 7th, 2011 at 1:01 AM ^
Gibbons and Broekhuizen straight up for LaMichael James.
October 6th, 2011 at 11:10 PM ^
Cal's D-line looks...unusual.
October 6th, 2011 at 11:18 PM ^
I had a friend who is a big college football fan ask if Oregon "has an official home jersey" I had no answer. Was hoping maybe someone could give a definite answer.
October 6th, 2011 at 11:28 PM ^
Wheee!
October 6th, 2011 at 11:36 PM ^
Looks like a kicker, and plays like one too. Can't believe Payton is considering these clowns Over Michigan,
October 6th, 2011 at 11:48 PM ^
Just go ahead and throw 20 yards on 4th and 3.
October 6th, 2011 at 11:53 PM ^
Another mother was wid open.
October 6th, 2011 at 11:52 PM ^
I love seeing Ohio State football advertisments and there being no ranking next to their name. It also brings me joy knowing they will be crushed on Saturday.
October 6th, 2011 at 11:57 PM ^
Damn. LaMichael James just went down with a serious arm injury. Very bad.
October 7th, 2011 at 12:10 AM ^
Broken arm? Looks like it. Goodbye Heisman ballot.
[Could be a dislocated elbow. I was in on a play just like that, that resulted in my then-best friend's elbow dislocating in that same way. Hope for the best for LaMichael James.]

October 6th, 2011 at 11:59 PM ^
the wrong way was not pretty
October 7th, 2011 at 12:01 AM ^
I'm very very very glad ESPN only showed that once so far on replay. Yikes.
October 7th, 2011 at 12:09 AM ^
If I recall correctly abc showed the McGahee knee blowout multiple times on replay during the 2001 NC. Im kind of glad they limited that whole thing to one exposure. That looked bad.
October 7th, 2011 at 12:55 AM ^
The Joe Theisman - Lawrence Taylor leg breaking incident is the gold standard for how not to handle serious injury replays on TV. They only showed that like 20x.
