NCAA Informs Ohio State Of Ongoing Investigation

Submitted by SanFrancisco_W… on

According to 97.1 The Fan in Columbus, the NCAA has informed Ohio State University that they will be continuing their investigation.  The report comes from the Common Man and the Torg show with its sources coming from former OSU football players.

More details to come once I find a print source.  I know we all love to see it, but they broke the news on the radio with promise of following up on it.

EDIT: Here's the link

EDIT #2: Torg now saying he thinks PRYOR is talking in an effort to get him into the Supplemental Draft.  Granted this is heresay and high speculation, but it raises some interesting questions.  Mind you, Torg is the one who broke this story on air when I posted it....before it made it to ESPN.

EDIT #3: 97.1 NOW REPORTING THAT THE SIGNING OF MEMORABILIA DID NOT STOP AFTER OSU "PUT THE CABOSH ON IT!"  This is getting unbelievable!  Torg says booster involved is from Northwest Ohio. They are livid! Tune in and laugh your ass off.

He's confident about the report and his sources.  NCAA sent a letter on Aug 3.

OSU's response is semantics. "OSU is not responding to what I wrote in my story."

The COI meeting doesn't factor in what these additional allegations are (or if there were any).

On whether OSU will escape a bowl ban: "It will be 2-3 months after Friday" before we find out about bowl bans.  Said they may escape bowl ban based on the current NoA.

Not really that much here.  OSU declined to show the letter to ESPN.

For those of you who were worried about UM getting inplicated, there was no hint of any of that.

Late to the party, but love the part about UM possibly being in trouble.  OSU just needs to take their medicine and move on - Tressel knew guys were getting paid, didn't stop it sufficiently, was negligent (at best) or purposely deceitful (at worst) about informing the proper individuals at the university, and then lied to the NCAA.  Take your 2-year bowl ban, lose some scholarships and wins, and just keep on recruiting.  They are like USC, unfortunately; people will always want to play there, no matter how dirty they look or how hard they are hit.  Get geared up for 2016 - UM should be coming off an MNC title, if you are keeping count at home.

I couldn't believe that they just got a slap on the wrist. I can't imagine that everyone was unaware that TP drove cars as nice as a 3000GT. Come on, man. When a nice sports car like that is in the parking lot every day for camp, practice, and throughout the year everyone sees it. It's preposterous to think that none of the coaches had a clue. Tressel helped set some of this stuff up, and we're supposed to believe Fickle didn't know either?

Hopefully they will slam them the way they already should have... I will believe it when I see it. I think the fact that the AD used to work with the comitee has made this whole process easier for OSU to handle. They know just what to say, how to act, and how to avoid major damage. We'll beat their ass anyway. Go Blue!

Ohio State denies ESPN report Columbus Dispatch article:

I know Les Wexner has deep pockets, but this could get ridiculous.  If they could only buy common sense.  How many times is tosu going to steadfastly deny that something has happened only to have to admit it several days later?

How does Pryor talking to the NCAA help him get into the NFL's draft?  The connection there is tenuous at best and the rumor completely goes against everything we know about Pryor which is to lie cheat and steal at all costs.  If he comes clean to the NCAA that only hurts his NFL changes IMO.
