I agree that the officiating in those two series was poor. But was it really due to an orchestrated conspiracy, or was it just a case of officials getting swept up by the emotion of the crowd? And is there any evidence that the 1985 lottery was fixed, other than that New York won it?
Dallas just turned off the Heat.
The people of Dallas, or Cleveland?
Cleveland is happier, if only for a day or two. Dallas pride will grow immesurably from this for years to come. Hello, smug.
Have such poor self images. ;-)
Guess it wasn't time for the Fab Five to finally get their title. When Miami missed 11 free throws in the first 3 quarters, that tends to lose games.
Because of missed free throws? Never heard that one before...
Now all our old basketball wounds are opening up again. Here, let's all watch the video one more time:
Why would you do that?? Why?? that's just wrong.
Dallas deserves a lot of credit for taking down the team that everybody hated. Great team effort by them.
Miami will be extremely motivated next year. They are going to retool their roster to complement their stars. Chicago, OKC and possibly NYK and LA depending on the moves they make, are the only teams with the ability to realistically add the necessary pieces to compete with Miami.
73 wins will be a distinct possibility.
Great for all the old guys on Dallas who were able to win as it was probably their last chance.
Dirk is probably a top 25 player at this point.
Lebron is going to have to do something crazy like win 4 championships in a row with a recording breaking 73 win regular season if he wants that "global icon/best player ever" status that he's been craving since he tattooed "Chosen One" on himself.
If there's not a (full) season.
Hard to see how Miami will retool its roster. The new CBA will almost certainly make it harder for a team like Miami that is just about capped out for the next few years. They'll be able to add some players around the edges, but unless they get lucky and some legit player is willing to take the veteran's minimum, I can't see how they make significant changes.
top 25 as in all time right? He's surely been top 25 currently for a while.
easily.
You're out of your mind.
His numbers stacks up well among top 20 players of all time. He's an unique player(no 7' has ever had this type of skillset that Dirk possess). He is a great shooter(40/50/90) and has gotten better and better as he got older. He led a team that has no legitimate outstanding sidekick to a championship. Even when his team didn't perform well, Dirk still perform well under the circumstances.
The talent level on that team is not what's holding them back. All of the Big 3 have to play like the Big 3 in the clutch.
Lebron is 26, Chris Bosh 27, and Dwayne Wade 29. Jordan won his first NBA championship at 28. They still have plenty of time to create a legacy.
they will get rid of Chris Bosh.
They could pick up a quality center, point guard, higher draft pick, etc. and really lose nothing. All he gives them is a big guy who can hit jumpers and can't do much else.
Is this Jason Whitlock? Theyre not blowing up the Big3. No way in hell Pat Riley goes "Well, that was a failure" and decides to turn in a new direction.
They have no cap space to retool that roster. They are going to have to ride it with what they have.
I would still be shocked if this era of Miami basketball didn't produce at least one title. 2008 Celtics are the only team ever to get a ring before they took their lumps together.
I think this year might have been their best shot.
Chicago is certainly going to go out and get a shooting guard (J.R. Smith?) who can take some of the pressure off Rose and that was really all they were missing.
OKC aleady has their two stars and a much deeper team than Miami. They should only be better next year.
Los Angeles may try and pick up Howard, but even if they don't, I think having a summer off will have them back and motivated. Its tough to imagine that Gasol could play that poorly two playoffs in a row.
The Knicks are relying solely on the hopes that they can put together a "Big 3" that meshes better than the Hea's trio. Paul, Amare and Anthony would fit, if only because Paul is the best PG in the game. Far-fetched scenario for next year though.
That's why I'm almost certain Chris Bosh will be gone. Lebron and Wade are untouchable even if they don't fit. But keeping those three and having a garbage bench like they do won't cut it next year any better than it did this year.
Obviously, everything relies on the new rules and if there is a lockout.
'cause they'll never play D with D'Antoni coaching them
I have to reluctantly agree with you.
I don't care who Miami gets for next year. Unless their key players not named Dwayne Wade can learn some mental toughness, they will have a hard time getting over the hump.
This one goes out to LeBron. (I don't know how to embed.)
- Click "share" and then "embed" on YouTube.
- Switch MGoBlog to plain text editor.
- Paste embed link.
- Switch back to rich text editor and look for a box with "iframe" in it.

or,
It's easy if you know how
Thank God they eliminiated Team Diva. Dirk has answered his critics and won new found respect. Meanwhile, the media can finally stop with the Jordan/Lebron comparisons.
I really dont think those comparisons will ever stop.
On another note, Lebron is a punk. He has all the tools to be the best player in NBA history, but he refuses to grow up (fake coughing) or expand his game (learn a post move or work on his jumper).
I am extremely excited that the Mavs got it done. I officially have a man crush on Dirk and how he plays.
But that's what a lot of people miss. The mental aspect of the sport is as important as any other "tool" out there. Jordan wasn't just a great natural athlete; he also had a burning desire to win that few of his competitors could match.
I maybe one of the few who loved his HOF speech. It just showed the man has no quit in him.
You and Jordan.
Funny how nobody mentioned the holes in his jumper after the series against Boston or Chicago. The guy is the best out there now that Kobe is falling off. Basing an opinion of his game off of 3-5 games is short-sighted when there are multiple 82 game seasons of work to look at.

What's with all the defense? Right now LeBron isn't even the best player on his team...
especially against team Diva. They just won me $141.
Anyone but heat man glad see Jason Kidd finally win one congrats.
I always have respect for older players, esp ones who continue to perform at a high level, so I will definitely agree with this. Great to see a guy who has paid his dues and more get a ring.
73 wins will be a distinct possibility.
I really wish people would stop saying this year after year. The NBA is peaking right now and a lot of team are good. Going 73 for 82 games is not happening. 1996 Bulls will not be topped.
Bulls played in a pretty crappy time for the NBA, actually. Ewing, Barkley, Stockton/Malone just didn't measure up to Magic, Bird, Isiah. That was a big factor in their attaining that mark.
That was also an expansion year for the league (Toronto and Vancouver were added), so the talent pool was diluted a bit.
In '89 too. The League blew in the mid-90's. Talent too spread out, Jordan's contemporaries weren't anywhere near as good as his predecessors, and the next batch of talent like Shaq were all way too young.
Dirk, J-Kidd, Jet and Cuban(really everyone on the team) deserves it. What's amazing is the Mavs did it without Caron Butler(arguably their 2nd/3rd best player on the team), Roddy Beaubouis(basically a Barea clone except bigger and more explosive) and Brendan Haywood(for the last two and half games).
Dirk has to go down in history as the top 5 PF of all time. His legacy has taken for the better within weeks. He also show that he can stick with his team through the good and bad and still come out top unlike LBJ and Bosh who tried to take the easy way out by trying to join force with each other and D-Wade.
Ehh, I don't really blame Bosh for peacing out on Toronto. That was a no-brainer--he was never going to win there. LeBron's a different story.
but Bosh quit on Tornoto which is something that most people overlook.
He stayed for seven years! In Canada! Where no one cares about basketball! His second and third options were Andrea Bargnani and Jarrett Jack!
he just flat out quit on them. His teammates were upset with Bosh that he checked out after all-star break.
