TomVH: OL Eric Olson Visiting
I just spoke to Massachusetts OL Eric Olson (6'6", 265 lbs), and he told me that he will be visiting Michigan on June 7th. He was offered about three weeks ago and would like to make a mid summer decision. I'll have his full quotes in the Weekly Update on Monday as it's closer to his visit, just thought I'd give you a heads up.
Looks decent. Tom - what do you think the reasoning is to extend this offer with guys like Magnuson, Banner, Diamond, Simmons, Dodson all having Michigan high. If we think we can land 3 of those guys, might that offset the need to keep offering more OL?
Extending an offer to someone doesn't necessarily have anything to do with their chances with anyone else. It's really early in the process and anything can happen, so it's better to be safe than sorry.
Offensive line is such a big need, so if they don't build relationships now and if something unforeseen were to happen in the future they would be screwed. The coaches can control the situation more than you think.
dude's got a nice mohawk.
Its kind of sad that I've gotten so spoiled with the quality of this class (as by star rankings) that I went to rivals and saw unranked and was very confused.
Everyone has the same thought on that.
This kid goes to my high school. I wish I had something to share about this kid specifically, but I haven't been back in a while. If I'm around Boston this fall and this kid is serious about Michigan, I'll definitely go to a game.
As far as the program, my high school hired a new coach circa 2005 and the program has turned around ever since. It was a laughing stock in our league, but since '06, the team is 38-4, winning three straight ISL championships (Lawrence Academy was bopped for recuriting violations). There have been a number of kids who have gone on to play college football, but mostly to BC and some Ivys. BB&N is one of the top schools in NE academically too, so I'm sure this kid could handle the rigors of a school like Michigan.
Just asking because you're only allowed to refer to someone as "this kid" if you're 30+ years old, have gotten a woman pregnant, and have held down a steady full-time job for at least a year.
Nice to know the pre-reqs for using "this kid". I meet all three, so I'll try to fit it in more often.
Can you believe that this kid is trying to tell us what we can and can't do?
because I find myself calling folks 30 years old "kid". Which, makes sense if 30 year olds can call 17 year olds "kid", I guess... #gettingolderisweirdandkindasucks
using hash tags, lol. #getoffmylawn
Seems like a poor policy: getting a women pregnant at the age of 15 wouldn't make someone a man. Also, Olson isn't even a senior in high school yet, so I would think he could be qualified as a kid.
Google the NCAA or consider the fact that the Wings play in the Western Conference.
Ya I know the NCAA, and even better I spent some time in Washington DC, which is a place were lots of policies don't make a lot of sense.
Don't think that is stepping over the politics line...
To be fair, he didn't say "or," he said "and." Thus, a 55 year old without children is not a man.
Didnt notice that. Makes me wonder even more if he was making a joke.
Hey, get off my lawn is a phrase applicable to the actions of anyone either younger or newer to the area/activity than you are.
I'm 30, have a kid, have a steady job, and am furious at everyone at all times.
Boy,
I'm from Boston. We refer to everyone as kid, dude, or something of that ilk.
"this kid" aint no country I ever heard of! This kid speak English?
With Magnuson and Olson - all ur scandanavians are belong to us. Skol.
Nah, we're Japanese.
