OHHH LETS DO IT!!
I haven't been this nervous for a Wings' game since the Finals a couple of years ago.
I think it is the Wings game to lose. The way they dominated the other night in game six, really shows their poise and the fear that has been struck into the Sharks. I just hope that Abdelkader doesn't come up with any other boneheaded penalties late in the game, the hands in the face on Tuesday night was just silly.
I think Cleary really played a great game on Tuesday. Obviously unfortunate he missed the break away, but he was all over the place and everytime he was on the ice it looked like his line and matchups were winning the little battles. Hopefully he gets rewarded with a goal tonight.
I counted three absolutely golden opportunities that he whiffed on (one in the first, the breakaway, and an empty net chance) and another strong chance ruined when he mishandled a pass from Zetterberg.
He played really hard and was a big reason the second line was dominant, but with all the missed opportunites, I wouldn't say he had a great game.
His great game placed him in the position to have those opportunities. The puck just didn't bounce his way but that doesn't mean he didn't have a fantastic game. Goals don't mean everything. He badgered the Sharks back lines all night and added extra miles to them so they couldn't push Z out of the way on his goal and had to give ice to Dats for the pass to Val. Now, obviously, this wasn't all Cleary but he carried the play and for that I thank him.
Here's hoping to another great Red Wing memory tonight.
i plan on taking several clandestine naps during work today since i plan on this game going to at least one overtime.
by the Wings for a long time. For me personally it's hard not to take them for granted sometimes. Coming back from 3-0 down would be something new and very special. Here's hoping to taking down the Sharks in a way similar to Roy's last game.
This is also a great way to be distracted from incessant year-round Alabama and Auburn crap.
Damn that was a good night.
It's still a little early for this thread but I'm pumped and scared for this game. I'm wearing my lucky shoes. I wore these shoes to game 4 and game 6 at the Joe and they won both. And I wore them at bdubs for game 5. Something I didn't do for the first 3 games. I'm starting to think that my shoes are the reason they keep on winning so I don't plan on taking them off today. Hopefully we come out and dominate like we did in game 6
You are not to remove those bad boys till the end of the game.
San Jose has completely dominated in San Jose. Let's hope this isn't our 2002 Colorado moment. If Clowe continues to suffer from the Kronwall flu though, that would help tremendously.
As soon as Filppula started playing hard we finally capitalized on some of the great scoring chances. Having him and Datsyuk out there together seems to be pure magic at times. Also, here's to hoping Abdelkader doesn't take another dumb penalty...
Well, Abdelkader did go to State, so he's used to breaking the rules and finding himself in a box. It's the only life he knows!
Red Wings thread at 11 in the morning? YOU KNOW IT! Hockeytown does it right.
Wings taking it in 7 — it was this way all along. History will be made.
and I am already getting nervous. I hope the Wings power play clicks tonight, and please Justin Abdelkader, no stupid penalties.
about home ice, depth, injuries, momentum, pressure, and fatigue; when it comes to the drop of the puck in game seven, neither team has an edge. It will be a coin toss.
LGRW!
This has got to be one of, if not the greatest series in the last 20 years for the Wings, if they win. Two other notable battles come to mind, besides the Cup winning series' (what the hell is the plural form of series?)
The '97 series when they finally took down the Avalanche in the conference finals (after McCarty pummeled Claude Lemiuex in March) and the '02 series when we came back from a 3-2 deficit in the series and took game 7 at home 7-0. Those wins were completely nuts because they were victories over bitter rivals, which made it that much sweeter. I feel like with the way the Sharks have handed us our lunch over the last couple of years that they have become the modern day Avalanche nemesis... If we win tonight there will not be enough beer in Ann Arbor to quench my vengeful thirst.
thanks, serieseseses just didnt look or sound right.
This series is over. You guys are going to roll over this gutless team. I'm surprised the Sharks are favored tonight.
Teams that come back from 3-0 to tie 3-3 are only 3-5 in game 7s in NHL history. So the momentum doesn't seem to matter traditionally. Now the Sharks are a bit different case because they are dogged by several years of choking, but I don't expect this to be easy. And as someone mentioned the home team has dominated every game this series (although both are better on the road then at home in the regular season)
Its getting close, but Joe Thornton is not as good of a villian as Claude Lemieux
Also, I don't see babcock yelling at the sharks coach a la scotty bowman
also niemi is not as evil as patrick roy
Let's be honest, I don't think any goalie in the NHL is as evil as Roy was. Still remember the "statue of liberty" save where he dropped the puck and we knocked it in like it was yesterday, sheer bliss.
I don't think it's close at all. ' 97 was our break through after not winning the cup for a generation-plus and being so close in the previous seasons. The Avs were a bunch of dislikeable punks from the coach on down. They were our antithesis.
On the other hand, we're now a "dynasty" and the Sharks are mirrored after the Wings. Their coach is a former Wings coach and has a quiet business-like personality. I respect that team a lot more than the Avs.
The Sharks mirror the Wings between whistles.
Could you imagine Lidstrom taking a dive? Or Pav and Hank consistently spraying an opposing goalie?
At least the Avs embraced their style/reputation.
Will be down here in NOLA drinking at Ryans with the few other wings here...

<br>LETS GO
I would have bet a lot of money that house was in Taylor or Redford. Turns out it's in Livonia
DPT's 3 keys to the game:
1. Limit second chances: Wings did an oustanding job of this in Game 6. The Sharks only goal (albeit weak) was from one of the few second chances allowed by the Wings.
2. Breakouts/ins: Again, the best the Wings have looked in this category came in Game 6. Puck has got to get out of the zone crisply the first time. Our defensemen were fantastic making that first crucial pass to the wing or circling center.
3. Faceoffs: Sharks have the advantage as the home team. If Mule can't go, gotta put in
Drapes for faceoff skills.
Going to "take in lots of beer tonight." Go Wings.
Hopefully I'll be able to catch some of the game.
Microbiology / Playoff Game 7. Which happens more often?
depends on how many times you fail that microbiology exam by not studying for it
Little bit of a hype video?
today's game 7 is like this one.
Franzen is out.

There should probably be a new thread for the game since this one's buried
I concur. Go for it (I don't have the powers).
