OT: Can the Wings Bring It Back to the D? (YEAH! WOO!!)/ Game 5 @ Sharks NHL Thread

Submitted by I Bleed Maize N Blue on

Same formula: throw pucks at the net early and often and go hard after them, work hard in the corners, skate, skate, skate.  Hopefully get puck luck, early goals and stay out of the box.

It's tough, though, facing elimination every game.

Franzen looked better at the start of game 4, but the announcers pointed out in the second period (IIRC) he was slowing.  Hope his ankle has improved, we really need him to get going.

At what point, however, do the Wings realize that the Sharks are going to try to draw calls and the refs are going to make them?  Awful dive by Thorton, but why swing the stick in the first place knowing he's probably going to flop?

The Wings really need to man up here. Us Bruins fans want some more time between the conference finals so that Bergeron can recover. We got the Preds series, but two series going the distance would be greater help.

Savard's concussion was a lot more serious IMO. The reason to be concerned about Bergy at least as a Bruins fan is that he's had concussion issues in the past dating back to the vicious Randy Jones hit. A mild concussion isn't the worry. It's the fact that he's been dealing with concussions before that's the worry. Also, the Bruins aren't releasing any information and as far as I know, they haven't practiced since, so we don't have the regular progress reports.

Look who is left in the playoffs and their top players, and you will see a common thread. TOUGH North American players.

Tampa Bay (Run by Yzerman)- St. Louis, Stamkos, Lecavalier, Gagne

Boston- Bergeron, Lucic, Marchand, Chara (Exception to the rule)

Vancouver- Kesler, Burrows, Bieksa, Ballard

Nashville- Legwand, Ward, Weber, Suter, Tootoo

I will not mention San Jose players, since I am not a fan of them.

I certainly have my preferences for North American players, but the problem isn't that the Red Wings Europeans don't want to play physical.  It's that they're making awful turnovers and not competing at a high level for 60 minutes.

stick a fork.

Time to cut loose some old meat. Bye Draper, bye Erickson, Flipula, Stewart, Osgood, Franzen. We need speed and size. We could also use another natural goal scorer to be set up by Dats.

yeah, I am fair weather fan when I know the exact salary stituation of the wings and watched 95% of the wings games the past five seasons and actually go to the games in person.

I am just keeping it real. Time to cut the dead weight on the team.

My fucking blood pressure right disagrees with your bullshit fair weather assertation asshole.

fuck you.

"natural" goal scorers are overrated.  Look at the goal distribution so far in the playoffs.  Where are all the goals from the Sedins, Semin, Heatley to name a few.  It's the guys like Bergenheim, Pavelski, and Ward who have been most critical for their team's success.
