the just released schedules were a flat-out statement that the B10 doesn't believe SOS will matter in playoff selection

Ace, Are the national recruting rankings ( ie: ESPN, Rivals, etc) arbitrary or do they use a similar formula as yours? |
| 43 weeks 2 days ago | Anyone who makes the argument |
Anyone who makes the argument about "collateral damage" and punishing the folks that did nothing wrong must then defend the arguement that the death penalty should never be applied ever and most NCAA punishments (ie: bowl bans, loss of scholarships, etc) shouldnt be handed out as both have collateral damage. Any punishment to a school has collateral damage. Should Sandusky not go to jail because he is the bread winner for his family. What about his poor wife. Who will support her? I say tough shit. Football is the reason these crimes were allowed to go on for so long. I truly believe the culture at PSU needs to change and the only way to do that is to take away what is obvioulsy their number one priority. I do feel sorry for those that will be affected, but the crimes are so egregious and to try and pity a fan base and community who continue to defend Paterno is laughable. Like a previous poster stated, most D-I and every DII-III school do not have the massive cash influx that PSU does, yet they still field teams with student athletes who travel, train and compete at the best of their ability. |
| 51 weeks 11 hours ago | Choices |
I agree they do recruit nationally, but cannot develop the depth based on their standards that a natipnal championship football team needs. Notre Dame has a very simple choice. Be the "Academic-Catholic" institution who they claim and strive to be or be a DI football powerhouse. They have tried to straddle the fence more than most schools (yes, even our beloved Michigan), however at some point they need to make a decision; much like Yale some 50 years ago to be either an academic powerhouse or an athletic powerhouse. Places like Stanford, Michigan, Cal, Virginia have all maintained high accademic standards, however we all know that there are different standards for our high power athletes, You listen to Notre Dame and they want it all, but in todays college footbll world that will not suffice. Same reason the SEC has won successive national championships. |

Literally and figuratively I suppose. The one thing that struck me the most from this is that he is a good guy. Like Seth said, likable, no academic issues, no unwarranted arrogance or behavior issues, and on track to graduate in 4 years from the UM. Although his sucess on the field may not (yet) have lived up to lofty expectations, these other non-football facts make me proud to be an alum. Ideally i would want a guy who is both a beast on the field and a good guy off the field, but if given a choice, I will take the good guy off the field everytime. |

What is Beilein's MO for conference tournaments when an NCAA bid is locked? Did he push his teams to win the conference tourney when he was at West Virgina or did he just get them healthy and ready for the NCAA? |

A violation of NCAA Bylaw 8.008-5 making both teams ineligible and forcing forfiets would actually be ideal. |

ND and Ohio made the list for highest percentage of men, thus one possible explaination for their pent up anger, while MSU made the elite list of Top 10 slacker schools. |

Is Joliet Academy a ND feeder school and have we previously had any success pulling kids from there to Michigan? Snaggin him from the likes of ND and USC would be fantastic. |

I am slowly entering the "get off my lawn" group of alumni. I came to Michigan from out west based in part on the stellar academics, but also the brash confidence of the fab 5. For some reason, I like Pipkins attitude and swagger. |

The hospital CEO, Dr. Pescovitz, recently sent out an email detailing the delay and vowing to investigate fully. Although i am not a university insider, I got the sense from the tone of the email that they will explpore the investigation to the fullest and I can only assume the US Dept of Education is getting involved to make sure that everything is done appropriately. |

| 1 year 20 weeks ago | USC |
I would guess Michigan and USC are the two schools that if they took ND off the annual slate would make ND reconsider their independece. However, I would be shocked if USC dropped ND from their schedule. That is a big tradition game for both schools. The game has been played since 1926 and the series was only interupted during World War II. Additionally, USC has recently been unafraid of "strong" non-conference games. Michigan has taken breaks from ND before and would do it again if need be, but I highly doubt USC will do the same thing. |

| 1 year 26 weeks ago | Nebraska fans are the best |
My experience in Lincoln was second to none in regards to the kindness and generosity that their fans demonstrated. I went to the USC-Nebraska game a few years ago with my brother and as we walked through the throngs of red, almost every tailgater stopped us, welcomed us and offered us beers and brats. They even wished USC good luck on the field. Never have I experienced anything like that as a visiting fan. This includes multiple trips to South Bend, which is a distant 2nd compared to Lincoln, and a complete polar opposite to Columbus which is the antithesis to Lincoln. I echo the sediments of the previous posters that we treat our visitors to a great time while they are here in AA. |

Interview after interview every PSU student, player, coach described how sad things are and then go on to describe how much they missed Joe Pa. The mood was as if he had died a tragic death when in fact he most likely ignored a pedophile in his program. Sickening the "sadness" focused on Joe Pa. |

Devin has the same problem Denard had last year: locking in on his primary reciever. That was obvious when he missed a wide open Hopkins earlier in the game. Denard has improved on that this year and still ultimately gives us the best chance to win this year. The bigger question is who do we go with next year as Devin gets better and can check down onto other recievers. Ultimately Devin will be the better passer, but Denard is still the better overall athlete at this time. |
| 1 year 44 weeks ago | Speaking of Al Capone.... |
One of the problems the NCAA has right now is Pryor is gone and will refuse to participate in the invesitgation and the NCAA lacks supoena power. Earlier it was mentioned how Capone was only charged with tax evasion. I am no accountant, but if the reports are true that TP recieved $20, 000 - 40,000 worth of "extra benefits" then couldnt he be charged with tax evasion thus potentially opening up a federal investigations (with supoena power) directed solely at his dealings at OSU and force him to disclose all that he knew and earned? |
