I noticed Spike doing this yesterday -- it was great to see, but if the NCAA decides to follow the NBA on this, could lead to some big Ts (rather than big Bs). Grantland did a story on this earlier in the year... http://grantland.com/the-triangle/balls-out-in-defense-of-the-sam-cassel...

We play them both at the same time. Which, like, why?

Otherwise your suggestion is mathematically impossible.

That sign is awesome. How has this not happened already?
|22 weeks 4 days ago||Any idea how long to plan for a drive?||
I am pondering driving up from Washington DC, and am wondering how bad traffic is on again day. Google maps suggest it's about a 3 1/2 hour drive, but I'm sure it takes much longer to get in given all of the game day traffic. I welcome any tips from folks who have done the road trip before. Thanks!

...Johnnetta Cole was just awful. Here I am, graduating from the University of Michigan, and my graduation speaker is: the president of a small women's college that I've never heard of?
I actually went into it with an open mind, thinking "hey, if they brought her here, she must be really interesting." She wasn't.
|46 weeks 4 days ago||If I did not live in DC I would hate this.||
Swapping out regular games with longtime rivals like Iowa and Minny for games with...Rutgers and Maryland? Bleh.
That said, since I live in DC, this means I can now take the Metro to a Michigan football game every other year. Which is rather awesome.
Given all the alums out here, it won't be too hard to turn this into a de-facto home game. Nobody cares about Maryland football.
|1 year 12 weeks ago||My only question is...||
...what the heck was he doing up in East Lansing right after the Minnesota game? The article says he got pulled over at 1:33am on November 4th.
The team started the day in Minnesota whupping the Gophers, and while he didn't play (ulnar nerve boo-boo), he was on the sideline. So he flew back with the team, then jumped on the road and went to East Lansing?
Note that I'm not questioning the guy's right to be up there -- just curious as to what was worth driving up for? It's not like he's a popular guy in that town.

If you have a car, the one place you must eat at is Prince's Hot Chicken Shack.
The experience is like none other, and the chicken superb. One dude, 4 cast iron pans...one for mild, one for medium, one for hot and one for extra hot.
The surroundings are not great -- mostly used tire stores and porn shops. Actually, come to think of it, those are both ideal for a bachelor party.
|2 years 19 weeks ago||What killed me about this play...||
...was that Borges put Devin in. Denard has been plagued all year by "good Denard/bad Denard" moments -- largely related to what kind of momentum he has. This has been particularly true with his longer downfield throws.
So the moment he completed the long pass to Roundtree, I said to my buddy "that was beautiful! Good Denard is emerging!" And then he gets pulled at QB the very next play. I can't think of any better way to kill the guy's positive momentum than to pull him just as he is getting going.
While the announcers kept complaining about using Devin in the MSU game (why pull your best player off the field?), I had no problem putting Devin in there, as Denard's passing was awful. But in this game -- man, this was not the time to pull him.
|2 years 27 weeks ago||Thank God.||
I never minded the yellow piping of the Henne days, but the yellow side panels looked cheesy. With a classic uniform like Michigan's, why add such a tacky element? If it wasn't for the classic helmets, I'd say we looked like a crappy Big East school.
The new all-white design looks awesome.
|3 years 7 weeks ago||So actually, Esquire and GQ are different magazines.||
However, the fact that Brian does not recognize this may actually speak well of him.
|3 years 8 weeks ago||Awesome report!||
Makes me wish I was there. Between the Denard love for Michigan and the Freep diss, what a wonderful moment.
Now hopefully Hoke can figure out a way to tweak his offense to take advantage of Denard's talents. As much as I loved RR's offense, one limitation was that it didn't train it's QB to be ready for the NFL (see Pat White's one and done career), which I found sad given our long streak of placing QBs in the pros. If Hoke can fuse Denard into something that both utilizes his speed and also has elements of a pro-style offense, we'll kick ass and get him ready to QB at the next level.
|3 years 21 weeks ago||The club seats did a great job too...||
I figured they'd be full of old fuddy-duddies, but I was sitting just a couple rows in front of them in section 41 and loved that the folks in front were banging hard on the old maize "halo" on key plays. The banging on the metal made a helluva racket.
|3 years 23 weeks ago||A sellout would be quite a change...||
When I went down there a few years ago (2004 I think) for the Michigan-Indiana game, the stadium was half empty and it was almost embarrassing how quiet it was. I was sitting toward the top of the stadium and IU fans at the bottom kept looking up at me annoyed that i was cheering so loudly for Michigan.
The fact that they could hear me from where I was sitting pretty much told you all you needed to know about IU's crowd noise.

|3 years 38 weeks ago||I can't argue, but...||
...I recall Brian specifically writing that he had to change the shirt after getting an email from Irish lawyer types and deciding that the legal costs of fighting any challenge from them would significantly exceed the potential profits from the shirt.
|3 years 38 weeks ago||Brian made it on the old MGoStore...||
...but it wasn't one of the designs that made the jump to the new one he has set up.
I recall he also ran into some potential legal issues in saying "Notre Dame" and had to change it to "ND"
|3 years 43 weeks ago||Thanks for the info...||
...I figured they weren't having Michigan day in Wisconsin.
|3 years 46 weeks ago||One of the more interesting sub-plots in all this...||
...is that in moving heaven and earth to take Tebow (and not Clausen), McDaniels essentially snubbed a QB who had been hand-crafted by his predecessor as Patriots offensive coordinator.
One would think if he was trying to build a team in the Patriots' mold, he'd welcome a guy who had been suckled at the (amply sized) teat of Charlie Weis.
|3 years 48 weeks ago||Best Georgetown bar description...||
...ever. I can cast another vote for Buffalo Billiards.
|4 years 8 weeks ago||Clearly we should adopt them as our sister school||
By blowing up the "Axis of Evil" of ND, OSU and MSU, Alaska Fairbanks has demonstrated that they have their priorities straight, and are on the side of the just.
Bigger question I have is: what the heck did those three schools do to piss them off?
|4 years 13 weeks ago||We did similar shit like this in West Quad back in 1992...||
...albeit without the fancy logo graphic. Our RA posted some signs over the urinals asking us to aim carefully after some idiots kept pissing on the floor. We fired back with signs including "Shake," "Please do not fart if a fellow resident is next to you," and "If you tap more than twice, you playin'!"
|4 years 17 weeks ago||You raise a good point...||
...and as much as I bought into all the Barwis hype, I have to question whether any of it is making a difference right now. Certainly the notion of it as a great equalizer that would immediately help us excel against other teams has been blown to crap. Our players may praise Barwis and talk about how they are in much better shape -- but how does one reconcile that with the the fact that we look like a bunch of grannies as the game goes on?
Fine, so we're playing guys who are a year or two older. Whatever. Guys who are older but supposedly less conditioned on shit teams like Illinois and Purdue ought not to be able to dominate us in the second half the way they have been...especially after we demonstrate that we can hang in with them by turning in respectable first halves.
I am not at all on the "fire RichRod" train, but I do question whether part of it is coaching, and not being able to keep our young guys' heads in the game after things start to go wrong in the second half.
|4 years 27 weeks ago||Who fell while touching the banner?||
Was that Zoltan? If so, he clearly used mind bullets to break the fall and shield himself from being trampled by his teammates.
|4 years 27 weeks ago||I've been a fan of Jon's since high school...||
...when he created significant controversy by using the school newspaper to advance ideas such as the general uselessness of our cheerleaders, the concept that they viewed all non-cheerleaders as unshaven lesbians, and the advantages of razing the foreign language wing for a parking lot.
Back then -- much as now -- he was right on target.
|4 years 29 weeks ago||it's better, but...||
...a bit too inside jokey.
Is our current problem finding shirts we all love tied to the fact that there's not much about this team to love -- at least yet? Aside from Zoltan, Minor and Graham, I can't say I have much affection for anybody on this team yet. I mean, I hope to love Forcier at some point, but as of now...most of these players are associated with last year's memories, which = meh.
Best shirts of years past are:
I note that three of these four focus on insulting other teams rather than praising our own. Since we have little on our current team to love, perhaps we should focus more on smackdown of others? We are Michigan, after all -- our smack talk is flat out wittier than anybody else's.

Nice and all -- but Tacopants has always seemed like a Henne thing whose time has come and gone.
