Dantonio is untouchable up there- no matter what was done- his record against Michigan is more important to MSU faithful and most importantly the Regents than any assault/rape cover-up (if this happened, and I'm not saying at all that it did). Izzo is not as protected more so due to his teams performance recently than anything else, especially against Michigan. Beating Michigan is valued above all else in East Lansing.
I have taken my son’s class in a bus a couple of times and it is nothing short of fantastic (The trips only costed $5-$10 per person I believe). I will say the original trip was set-up when I texted Dave Brandon, he connected me with the right groups and set the trips up. First trip started out with gates opening to the Big House in north end of stadium and our bus pulling in. Toured the suites, press box, went on the field where the kids spent over half hour throwing football, taking pictures, and talking with Brady Hoke and staff. Then, off to locker room (fantastic). Jon Falk guided us in the locker room, kids went nuts over Denard’s locker (both the Michigan and MSU Kids), then back out to run the tunnel. From there, off to Chrisler where we were treated to John B. speaking to the kids (not planned, he was shooting baskets and came over to our group). He was amazing with the kids. Then, off to Schembechler for tour, then to Yost , then to the baseball/softball complex, and we finished touring the volleyball/wrestling facility. If you have kids and ever get a chance it is one of the most enjoyable things you can do- and they will remember it forever.
You could not have stated it any better. Based upon the way the series ended, the resumption should have included terms that were much more favorable to Michigan. I personally also liked playing some out of conference teams that we did not have a lot of history with.
Attempting to be reasonably objective... OSU won the national title last year, curb stomping the best SEC team in the process on a "somewhat" neutral field. They essentially returned the same team. MSU has been solid though certainly not overly impressive with their start this year. If not the Big 10, who? The SEC rarely if ever leaves their area even on "neutral site" games. This is going to change shortly, we shall see.
Understand that this is not the free market as you reference it and the government has nothing to do with it. The CBA (and in particular the Player's union) dictates that the player must be 21. There is not a collectively bargained contract I'm aware of that is truly "free market", as a free market pays employee's what they are worth individually without the restrictions applied by a collectively bargained agreement.
Unpaid student athete? There is no such thing. You must be ignoring the almost $30,000 in tuition, books, meals, bowl trips and extensive alumni network connections the University of Michigan bestowed upon him. Not bad, for a fullback that rushed for 600+ yards in his career. Also, playing for Michigan allowed him to have the ability to work with a world class coaching staff, play on network television and get drafted by the NFL. Kid performed very well at Michigan, and hopefully he learns that life deals some poor hands at times...
However, a bit premature to speculate as to the cause, or reason. Unfortunately, suicide is a leading cause of death in the US (I believe the #3 cause in people 18 and under). There are many reasons why this could happen. Do not dispute that football is going to have to get in front of the medical issues, especially with young kids and teens.
I would take the Chicago route. Believe it is about 60 miles closer and is an easy drive. I have been there twice, from the Brighton area, and believe it took in the neighborhood of 6 hours to get there. As far as advice for hangin out in Champaign- both times I went we stayed in Chicago. I do recall the fans there were not overly friendly- they seemed to treat Michigan as their bitter rival for some reason. Good luck and enjoy!

Good teams make other teams pay for the blitz- we offered no adjustments to the blitz- and have no idea how to throw a screen pass under blitz pressure. We are not being objective if we feel we can win games against physical, well coached defensive teams if we do not improve our decision making at the quarterback position- this includes schematics and play calling.
That being said- we clearly have talent issues on both sides of the ball- and can learn from this loss. I believe our staff is excellent, and will realize the mistakes made and adjust appropriately.

While I agree that neither side is in any position to be complaining about $$, opening complete financial records is rare to unheard of in collective bargaining- and the union knows this. Union contracts are negotiated in almost every type of business without this "complete" financial transparency- and are completely unnecessary to complete a deal. Not one of the previous collective bargaining agreements negotiated by any major American sports league has required said complete of books. It is greed on both sides that is driving this dispute, and neither side gives one shit about us- the fans that pay the bills- no matter what is said in the media.
