There's a good chance that the game finishes after the brackets are finalized, which means it literally cannot be considered. This happens. Even if not, there's so many things to shuffle that it usually doesn't factor. They repeat this on essentially every broadcast of the Big Ten final game. Come on. The only valid point you have is that he's not very thick, but that's not a huge deal for a guard who shots 45% from 3, is 6'6 and can create.
I would be down for this trade: the AD can take away 2 football student seats for every 1 they add to the lower bowl in basketball. They'd actually make money off that, and it would even out the supply and demand a good amount.

And I love calling kids who stay home to do work (the escuse I hear the most) "lazy," as if attending a football game in person is a greater responsiblity than school.
That's not as big of an accomplishment as you might think. I know a kid who could barely crack the Northwestern rotation as a senior who plays professionally in Scotland.
The wages obviously vary based on talent, but most D1 players could at least get a contract for a shitty team in Europe.
I'll also add markedly improved TV experience and annoying stadium policies as more issues in ticket holder non-attendance.
It can be hard to roll out of bed hungover and trudge 40 minutes to the stadium for general admission when you could watch it on your couch on a high def flat screen, especially when the weather sucks. I go, but I know kids who have to be dragged along and would rather just watch at home.
It's not complicated. The main thing is that we just aren't very good. More than ever, kids who aren't really hardcore football fans are willing to bail to get homework done. We just aren't the draw we used to be for you older dudes.
Stupidly increasing prices (wanna guess how much Bama students pay per game versus us?) is why there's a drop in sales. Loss of mystique around the team is why ticket holders don't always show for worse games.
And since our entire home slate next year is vulnerable to "welp, I should be studying instead," it's going to be bad.

My inexpert read is that we'll one, perhaps two departures. Nik and his family have made his NBA aspirations clear, and Mitch and GR3 all but publicly stated this was their last year after they came back. Things haven't been great for the last two since then, but I'd be very surprised to see 3 guys who want the league all return, even if none are lottery picks.
We've had an early entry just about every year recently, and only Burke was assured a high selection. I don't see that trend breaking, and I wouldn't get my hopes up for it if I were you.
