Oh God, the 100 day projects for my kids were the worst. Kudos to Solomon's mom for lining up help on gluing 100 pennies to a piece of cardboard or cutting out 100 paper dolls.

1. Their option to become a tenant in the Rams stadium expires this week. It's widely assumed the Raiders would jump at the chance to move to LA rather than Vegas.
2. Just being in LA probably increases the value of the Chargers franchise by about 25%.
3. I don't think anyone in LA, or the NFL besides the Chargers' owner, is particularly excited or interested in the Chargers moving. (This can be seen by the fact that they're not going to play at the Coliseum but at the Galaxy's stadium in Carson, ie they're going to be the tenant of a MLS team). This is about the Chargers owner thinking that it's far better for his bottom line to move to LA.

He pissed off the boosters and his AD by publicly campaiging for the OSU job before Tressel was hired.
It was still a dumb idea to fire him.

New Yorkers, it's super cheap to get into tonight's game. I just picked up a set of 4 tix, 8 rows behind the basket for $12/per ticket.

This can be true, though I think everyone's who has played has played with guys who can't be bothered on the defensive and still light it up on offense (James Harden is the prime example).

Minnesota's unranked because their ongoing four game winning streak is a result of a Maryland-Rutgers-Illinois-Purdue schedule. They've lost to the two teams with a pulse they've played, Iowa and PSU
|16 weeks 9 hours ago||Holding||
If the MSU holding calls in the Illinois game were prompted by league review of the tape of the UM-MSU game, it suggests the league should have a referee assessor in the box who can brief the officiating crew as to broader game patterns that he's seeing. Much better to fix the problem in the game at hand rather than the next week. Plus, they can put some of the interminable TV timeout stoppages to good use.

"Louisvilles, Houstons, Western Michigans, Boise States ..."
One of these things is not like the other, one of these things does not belong...
Louisville is about 4 yards from being a presumed playoff lock.
Also, I might agree about Indiana's potential if they were actually in the West, but they're in the East, where the OSU/Michigan gauntlet makes it really hard for an underdog program to rise up.
|16 weeks 3 days ago||They should have a ref||
They should have a ref supervisor/assessor in the box that watches the game and broadcast and can brief the officials during the interminable tv breaks as to what he's seeing, backing up calls they got correct, letting them know calls they missed. It wouldn't fix anything retrospectively, but would have the potential of addressing egregious, repeating patterns of missed calls.

Fwiw, I was stuck listening to the MSU broadcast on the radio (Sirius only had MSU broadcast for some reason) and Blaha and his color guy were complaining like crazy that the refs were biased against MSU. Lots of complaints about PI that went uncalled.

I think Stanford's endowment is now big enough that their admissions are totally need blind. They cover all tuition charges for parents who make less than $65k and adjust tuition for parents making less than $125k so that tuition is capped at the federal loan limit.
Of course, wealth conveys all kinds of advantages in the admissions process, but Stanford's essentially no longer tuition dependent.
|16 weeks 5 days ago||With the level of acceptances||
With the level of acceptances they take and the qualifications of their applicant pool, admissions is essentially a lottery or a matter of having something that catches the eye of an admissions officer (I'd think interest in majoring in computer science would likely be a significant downgrade since something like 1/3 of their student body tries to declare a CS major).

The increase in administration is a feature across the entire university sector. Over the past 40 years, faculty employment has increased by 50% while administrative and university staffing employment has increased by 85% and 240% respectively at the same time that state support has dramatically shrunk.
Here's one fairly polemical but compelling take.

LSU made all kinds of offers to get the game played the first time. They offered to play on Sunday or Monday in Gainesville or to relocate it to Baton Rouge and send the revenue back to UF. Florida wasn't interested in finding a solution then. Don't know why they should be blamed for refusing to give up a home game that both their AD and flood ravaged local businesses were relying on for operating revenue.

Yep. I'm pretty sure this is about supporting the local businesses that were essentially shut down for a month due to the flooding

|20 weeks 3 days ago||Actually, LSU has more to||
Actually, LSU has more to lose (setting aside the financial benefits of a home game to the Florida AD).
The SEC bylaws apparently say the the first criteria in determining division champions is winning percentage. If LSU were to win out (doubtful, sure, but hear me out), they'd still be behind Alabama, who they beat head to head, as their records would be 7-1 to 6-1. Florida, on the other hand, could win the division with a 6-1 record over a 6-2 Tennessee who they lost to.

I've taken NJ transit down to the Rutgers campus 5-10 times. I think all the campus buses are just outside the train station by the bookstore. I'd guess the shuttle would be there too. It's hard to miss.
Worst case scenario, it's like a 2 mile walk to the stadium from the train. Not exactly short but not ridiculous unless you're carrying a bunch of stuff.

I don't think they started playing football until late in their high school careers, like their junior year. I know Graham was all-state in Illinois his senior year but had few scholarship offers because he was completely off the recruiting radar.
IIRC, Graham primarily played basketball, which, wow, think of the picks he set.
