No argument on the state of…

No argument on the state of the lions, but seems like a weird article to link to make that point.

Belonged to Frank Costanza

George is borrowing his car with his parents out of town

My confession

- I left both the Braylon-fest game and the Touchdown Manningham game early

- I find myself far more irritated by our own fans than visiting fans at home football games

- I wanted Tom Brady benched the entire 1999 season for Drew Henson

- I said unspeakably horrible things about John Navarre his entire career

- I still think RichRod could have worked

Driesbach to Hayes for the biggest comeback in stadium history at the time. Not as meaningful as others but was a great game/comeback

marques slocum,

Kelly Baraka too

Urban?

...is that you?

I think its pretty clear..

...from the response today that most of what is being admitted to was consistent with the previous regime. The slacking on CARA, confusion over QC staffers is not something associated with the new regime. Not to mention that most of the blame being dealt seems to be directed at holdovers in the administration from compliance to Draper to Labadie. So it seems to me that this is not some issue that is so out of character from the program's history. The only difference here is that you had an agenda driven paper with agenda driven people inside and around the program making outrageous claims that led to an NCAA investigation. I feel very confident that if there were a full fledged NCAA investigation 10 years ago or 20 years ago, the same magnitude of "major" violations would have been discovered.

This is why I am not all that upset about the marring of the program. I never had any misconception that we were perfect or never went outside of the arbitrary, ridiculous NCAA bylaws. The fact that the findings were so minimal is a huge victory in my mind for the program as I am positive that if a similar investigation occurred at any program in the nation, far worse skeletons would be found.

So it is unfortunate it is out there for the public now but I do not see this as some horrible scar on the face of our program.

Player development

The lack of player development to me is more an issue of ceiling right now. I think Brian is correct in saying the biggest jump is from freshman to sophomore year. However, that requires that a player has not already hit his athletic ceiling. The problem with this season's expectations is we count guys like novak and douglass to improve from what they were last year. At this point it looks very likely that both have hit their ceiling (which is probably why they were ranked as 2 stars to begin with).

Although Manny still struggles with some very basic things, I do think he has improved greatly since his freshman year. Deshawn looked lost as a frosh and has turned into a very good player. I think the test for Beilein's development will be in the progression of players like Morris, Vogrich, Smotrycz, Hardaway, etc. If next year and beyond these players who have the talent to be legitimate D-1 performers do not develop as such then there is cause for concern. But to expect significant jumps from low ceiling guys like Novak and Douglass is a mistake and a primary cause for the ridiculous expectations that were put on this team from the beginning of the year.

ties?

wtf is the deal with the 13 ties vs. Wisky? thats like 1 out of every 5 meetings. bizarre. awesome shirt though.

Yes.

There's no doubt he is our most talented player. But whether it's selfishness, frustration, or just mental lapses, whenever he faces tough defense instead of deferring to teammates (which by the way was working for the first 30 minutes of the game) he forces plays resulting in terrible shots and turnovers. When Manny plays under control and takes things as they come you see games like UCONN, Clemson last year, Duke last year.

Manny Fuckin Harris

selfish selfish selfish.

That is all.

This...

...is absolutely spot on. That website is trash.

Wow...

...alot of Dombrowski hate on this board

Well he wasn't gonna visit UM again....

....he already had his official here. RichRod still has an in home visit. Still a big longshot and i think he ends up sticking with USC but i don't think its OVER for UM and Baxter

Wouldn't work

I'd be very concerned about the status of Alvin Mack's knee injury. And the Freep would be all over Lattimore for his blatant steroid use. Not to mention Joe Cain's lack of family values.

I can't believe

how shitty Vinopal's career ended up at Michigan!!

My point

My point was that in just a couple years here RR and staff have shown a good ability to pick out lower rated players who end up being solid players. Is it a guarantee? Of course not. But I think that there has been enough proof to trust in the coaches when it comes to situations like this. I also think that the coaches have a good pulse on just how interested kids like Parker and Knight are in coming here. So while I think its ok to reserve judgement and be a little skeptical, to jump to conclusions and trash the kid and our staff is ridiculous. Also, I can not remember a time ever where we had to turn down an elite prospect due to space in a class, so I'll believe that when I see it. For now i'm going to sit back and enjoy the ride.

Another scholarship thrown away

This better not end up like Vince Smith and Patrick Omameh!!! Why the hell did we ever waste a scholarship on those losers?!?!? YAYYYYYY RECRUITING SERVICES!!! BOOOOOOO COACHES!!!!

Can we please....

save all the freaking out about room in this class until we actually see us turn away a top rated kid? Just wait and see how things work out. People can throw all the names they want out there but guys like Parker and Jefferson are pretty big longshots at this point. The staff will not stop recruiting them and if they do decide to commit we will work it out I'm sure. There is no way this staff turns down top end defensive talent. So for now just be happy we added another talented defensive back to our team. In case you didn't notice we didn't exactly have a plethora last year. At the very least Vinopal will add depth for the future.

Exactly...

...The comparison was of Michigans football team to the New Orleans Saints football team. Not UM football to the hurricane victims themselves.

Dantonio is anything but stable...

..that guy needs to go back on his meds.

I only clicked this thread

because i thought it was Howie Mandel's take. Please make the heading more specific, thanks.

sticks and stones....

...but words don't win football games. Yelling in caps won't turn Jordan Kovacs into Ed Reed.

Same for me

2003 was the best I've been attendance for, seems a long way off for my last good experience in this rivalry.

2007 OSU was the worst game i've ever been to period. And i was at Appy St and Oregon that year as well. The weather was miserable. We had less than 100 yards of offense and even though the score was close we never even had a chance and Tressell knew it.

nothing more badass....

...then whining about point negging. Sorry for being such a pussy. I take full responsibility for every missed tackle this Saturday.

or...

..the fact that if you told this to a buckeye they would respond by saying "you're the fire retarded couch"

Dumbest part of the whole story..

...is not that these football players performed an armed robbery or that the victim doesnt want them to be kicked off the team. The dumbest part is what the hell were those players thinking when they decided that the hillbilly driving a 1998 Hyundai Elantra was probably carrying a good amount of dough? That stupidity enough should be grounds for dismissal.

but but but but....

....he's got 4 stars on rivals? that means he do good at football. how comes the coaches keep tellsing them to be bad? stupid coaches

good point...

i bet they just sat around all week eating pizza and watching gossip girls. how the hell is Jordan Kovacs supposed to know that running toward the line when youre 30 yards deep and letting a wr behind you for a wide open td is a bad idea if nobody tells him??!!?!?!

You are correct

...Devin will be playing in the Under Armour game.

Good to know...

Good to know St. Dantonio runs such a tight ship, unless the guys a starter that is. *cough cough* Glenn Winston *cough*

It started....

...around the same time as "the claw". Both have absolutely butchered what used to be a pretty cool cheer. Nothing like yelling "YOU SUCK!" at Indiana or Appy St while they are beating us. But i guess to understand the stupidity of it the students would actually have to watch the game and know something about football. Or just have common sense.

I assume you're referencing

Seth Green's character, Special K, from "Can't Hardly Wait". I don't think he's in "Ten Things I Hate About You"

Why....

...would they want to remake an already perfect movie?

RIP P.Swayze

You'd better watch it!!
