the just released schedules were a flat-out statement that the B10 doesn't believe SOS will matter in playoff selection

| 23 weeks 1 day ago | Concussions not the issue. |
While concussions certainly to contribute to brain trauma, recent studies have suggested that they are not the greatest factor in degenerative brain disease. The real problem seems to be repetitive hits to the head (concussion level hits are not required). This article by Jonathan Mahler talks about it: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-12-05/there-is-no-concussion-crisis-i... Frankly, I think that these athletes assume the known risks with a playing a violent sport. |

| 1 year 3 weeks ago | So THE ONLY reason in your |
So THE ONLY reason in your mind that he could have "gone public," by having the athletic department make the responsible decision to inform the students, was to stir up controversy? Seems to me you're scrounging to excuse your alarmist behavior. To me, Brandon made the right call to inform the students well ahead of time. We have no evidence, either way, of Brandon making efforts to reach out to donors for support - but that doesn't mean he wasn't looking for them! All in all, your argument just sounds like the "but but but he's soooo corporate" |
| 1 year 3 weeks ago | Oh boy. Was 5 days really |
Oh boy. Was 5 days really that long to remember? Brandon didn't go public with it at first. The athletic department sent out an email to all of the band members doing the responsible thing by letting them know, far in advance, that they would not be able to attend. The email was obviously seen by a plethora of people in the media, including the The Daily, who wrote on the subject and asked Brandon for a response. He then gave them the response. That isn't the work of an evil genius creating your sideshow just to drum up support; its the work of a responsible AD. |

I love this blog. I love the environment you have created here. I love you. BUT. You are way off base on this Brandon bashing. Is it really so hard for you to believe that Brandon has the best interest of the program and fans in mind when making these decisions? Is it so hard for you to believe that he had been working on securing the funds for the band (a realitvely trival matter when you step back from it) this whole time? Sorry Brian, but the "ann arbor torch and pitchforks" didn't "work." They were just a sideshow to Brandon working on securing the funds. |

"typical corporate tool"....oh boy. Son you need to come back down to earth. Like I said twice above, I disagree with the decision and if I were in his shoes I would allow them to go. However, this is not a criminal act, nor that big of a deal really. |

| 1 year 3 weeks ago | I won't take the time to look |
I won't take the time to look up every thread discussing different topics/problems with Dave Brandon, nor will I take the time to look up all the Brian posts about Dave Brandon, but if you follow along religiously as I do there is absolutely no question that there is a segment of the MgoBlog (and I would suppose Michigan) community that takes it upon themselves to attack our AD at every turn. I happen to think that overall he's doing a pretty good job, however that isn't the issue. The issue is the "boy who cried wolf" syndrome some people have where they complain about every thing the AD does as a masterful afront to everything Michigan in the name of the almighty dollar. The result is that when there is a legitimate complaint, which I think this is, people go overboard with their reactions....which I think this is. While I would love to see our band at the game, I'm not going to get worked up like some people have been and make outrageous claims that Dave Brandon is selling out the University. |
| 1 year 3 weeks ago | It's already been posted. |
It's already been posted. Listen, I really want the band there as well; and I think that it is a big mistake not only for the fan base, but for branding, not to have them there. But this whole outrage over it is a little extreme in my opinion. I think that a lot of people on this board just want a reason to hate Dave Brandon, and go over the top to vilify him. Do I think this is a mistake, absolutely. Do I think this is a "war" against the loyal fanbase, not at all. |

He's a bit critical of your loyalties lol:
"Anyone want to know what else is cute? Aside from the fact that Michigan fans are all of a sudden basketball fans after years of telling us they don't care about the sport, I happened to have a little look-see at MGoBlog (bad move) and got quite a kick out of it. Apparently, they have an "Alabama fan" that posts there with an Alabama-centric POV. If you read enough of his posts, though, it starts to sound suspicious, then becomes painfully obvious that the guy is a Michigan douche posing as an Alabama fan to get the other oblivious Michigan douches to think Alabama fans look at things the same way Michigan fans do. It's obvious because the guy regurgitates all of the Michigan douches' talking points (ie. Sparty has an inferiority complex, has a low opinion of MSU fans b/c of RCMB). Pretty much, the guy is a Michigan fan masquerading as an Alabama fan and sucking up the the posters on their board. Either their posters over there are really, really stupid and easily duped, or they are playing dumb and convincing themselves that an Alabama fan actually gives a shit about Michigan. Found it VERY amusing that they have to stoop that low, then have the audacity to criticize our board and laud theirs." |
