No, you are wrong. If MSU

No, you are wrong. If MSU loses 2 of their remaining games, and we beat OSU (and win out), we would go to the championship.

Conference record is the only thing that matters in the B1G standings.

We would be 7-1 in the B1G.

Ohio St (assuming they only lose to us) would be 7-1.

MSU would be 6-2.

Tie for first in the division between us and Ohio St., the first tie breaker is

"(a)    If two teams are tied, the winner of the game between the two tied teams shall be the representative."

http://www.bigten.org/sports/m-footbl/archive/081011aaa.html

Therefore, we would go to the Big 10 championship game.

Of course, all of this relies on MSU losing 2 of their next games, and us winning all of ours. Pretty unlikely. But to say there's no chance of it is wrong in itself.

How long until Wiscy's 3 pt

How long until Wiscy's 3 pt shooting regresses to the mean

It's based on who's playing

It's based on who's playing the best... which is clearly Ohio State considering we beat them

Especially in the 1st 10

Especially in the 1st 10 minutes.

Wisconsin sure does know how

Wisconsin sure does know how to take all the fun out of watching basketball

When you average stuff half

When you average stuff half of it is below average and half of it is above average only happens when the distribution is normal

To use a football example, if you have say Michigan and Ohio excelling in these statistics and much higher than the rest of the teams, their stats might skew the average upward because of how high they are compared to the rest. In this case depending on how much higher the stats for those two schools were compared to the rest of the conference, you could have quite a few schools below than average and only 3 or 4 schools above the average.

Why the hell

Why the hell can't we just do east/west and draw the line straight through the state of Indiana.

West:

-Nebraska

-Purdue

-Illinois

-Northwestern

-Wisconsin

-Minnesota

-Iowa

East:

-Michigan

-Ohio

-PSU

-Staee

-Rutgers

-Maryland

-Indiana

In the Nebraska game? It's

In the Nebraska game? It's optimistic to think that he could manage the offense after not taking any snaps at QB in practice for 2+ weeks

Gardner at WR

Many people wanted Gardner at WR. When Denard got injured, if you were one of the ones pleading for Gardner at receiver then complaining that he wasn't available at QB....

The coaches though Bellomy was a viable option and would be ready. Obviously that wasn't a good evaluation.

Michigan 24 - MAMU 6

Great story. Reminds me of

Great story. Reminds me of David Molk's touchdown when his mother was diagnosed with cancer.

Yea, I understood what you

Yea, I understood what you meant as soon as I hit the "save" button.

And I completely agree. While I do think Iowa is one of those teams that teams often overlook and they usually do upset someone who should have beaten them at least once a season, we get them at home this year and lost last year. Doubt we miss this one again.

A fair point, and I guess I

A fair point, and I guess I agree that there definitely IS a case for why they could win the conference, but having them come into Ann Arbor and upset us again seems unlikely to me, especially after we lost to them last year.

Seeing as they probably WON'T have the head-to-head with us, they'd need us to drop 2 games, which I can see us losing to Nebraska and Ohio, but if that were the case then it would likely be Nebraska going, not Iowa. They are probably going to finish 3rd in the division and maybe it's a shame they're not in the Woody division to at least make that side more competitive.

I can't see them only losing

I can't see them only losing 2 out of Penn State, Nebraska, NW, and us.

Remember, this is the team that blew the lead to Central Michigan at home.

You're right that we won't

You're right that we won't lose to Nebraska again, we didn't lose to them last year.

Nevermind, just got what you meant... now I look like a smartass.

And now I double posted... great

You're right that we won't

If you're hosting a party,

If you're hosting a party, maybe one of your guests or friends who does get BTN can sign in temporarily so everyone can watch?

Just a suggestion because all you need to do is sign in with my Verizon/Comcast/etc. email on btn's website, could be a simple thing for someone to help you out with.

Miami

Miami missed two golden opportunities. Should be 10-0

No

No, it looks like Football, Men's BB, and hockey are the only ones where being 20 minutes early matter.

What sports can I earn points for attending?

All of them! As a general rule, all sports earn you two points for attendance (except Football, Men's Basketball, and Ice Hockey). To earn the full two points for Football, Men's Basketball and Ice Hockey you must check-in at least 20 minutes before game time, after that you only earn one point for those sports.

Leaving early

According to the FAQ on that page:

What is the definition of "attending" an event?

Full attendance is defined as checking-in to an event no later than 10 minutes after the scheduled start time and leaving the same event only after regulation play has expired.

That makes it SOUND like they are accounting for when you leave, although I'm not sure how they can enforce that if you check in without a smartphone.

It is a physical game

And injuries happen. I don't think a few incidents is ever going to destroy the sport, because it makes far too much money for that to happen. I totally agree that its possible that some interest gets lost and some kids don't play football because of fear from parents, but that's why there is so much attention paid to concussions/injuries now.

It is an inherently dangerous sport, but it could get a lot safer with the concussion rules and stopping stuff like the Saints' bounty program.

I'll take a wins against MSU and OSU

Over beating Bama anyday. Rather have 2 conference wins and shut Meyer/Dantonio up for a year than beat Alabama and really get only hype for a few weeks (which would then be lost losing to MSU)

3:30 is the way to go

Not for every game, but glad to have it for more than just 1 game like we had last year. As a student its much easier to get to the 3:30 games half an hour before kickoff compared with the noon games

I don't disagree with you that they are misguided...

You're completely right that they're misguided, and they did pay her to speak, but not at commencement. Granted they did pay her more for her event than they paid the actual commencement speaker.

And I meant to reply this to a post above. Sorry!

As someone from New Jersey...

No. They have very little fan base even in their home state because of how god awful they are... People in the new york/new jersey area just don't care about college football because the local teams are so bad.

thanks

Thanks for explaining that. I guess I'm just not used to wanting to watch games every week when away from home.

Crappy TV Coverage

So I'm a big NY Giants fan and I've never been able to watch the game out in Ann Arbor (but enjoying watching the Lions)... Lions-49ers is on FOX and Giants-Bills is on CBS. However, CBS has elected to show almost the entire country BESIDES Michigan that game. Here, we get no 1pm game and for some unknown reason... Texans at Ravens at 4:00.

Just look at how ridiculous the TV coverage map is:

http://www.the506.com/nflmaps/2011/wk6.html

According to Chris Spielman

Dantonio represents "clean, hard-hitting football"

not sure what it was like in person

But the amount of garbage blowing around on the field that I could see on TV spoke for itself...

Fair ranking

The game was closer than the score suggests... 3-4 pivotal plays go our way and we could have won this one. Granted, we didn't play as well as we should have, but it was a closer game than you might think just by looking at the score. No. 17 seems like right around where we should have been going into this game.
