Imagine how that could have morphed into a "be careful what you wish for" moment...and now the SEC East champ gets to travel 1800 miles to play Oregon in the semi-final in Pasadena... My $0.02 is the B1G AD's spent too much time in the pockets of men in bright red blazers, and lost sight of a nice opportunity to increase "fairness" for our football champs.l |

It doesn't look like the % capacity utilization was based on fluctuating seating capacity between 2007-2009. |

AT&T, flouting the "no advertising within Michigan Stadium" unwritten rule, handed tens of thousands of free T's (emblazoned with their logo/name) for the 2008 game against Wisconsin, during a "maize out" event. And the color of said shirt? Old school maize, ca. mid-1990's! |

has already offered up the term "Blue Job" for the evolved conceptualization... One other drawback is the on-going, raging battle of what exactly constitutes "maize" nowadays. Those of us over ~35 y/o may have a "vintage butterscotch" maize T, which may clash with those hippity/hoppity kids and their highlighter yellow T's. (As well as the fact that there are no "maize" jackets/parkas, so the "maize out" T-shirt idea only works essentially in September.) |

"Take Off" as sung by Geddy Lee. PURE GOLD! |

for your feedback. Also, nice to see some balance and perspective regarding season-on-season trending and all that unfortunateness. When you suggest "myth about RR's recruiting efforts here" where is "here?" Here at mgoblog? Or here in MI? If here on mgo, I guess there's some truth to that, coming from the top down (even in this post, Brian suggests many "tweeners" etc.). Thanks again. Appreciate the insight. |

Actually, Brian's written about the dearth of top talent within Michigan prior to the last two years, going back to 2005 or so... But the point being that even the top 3 guys in MI not being great fits, or 3/4 star types, well, yeah, get 'em and keep 'em from the other guy. Not in dispute. (Of course, if there are "Michigan Men" steering that talent to the other guy, what could any coach do?) |
| 4 weeks 2 days ago | General Recruiting Question |
I'm not quite as savvy on recruiting as so many other fan/FB stalk/recruiting service subscribers, so here goes: How early does a typical recruit have a good idea where he wants to go? Sophomore year? Junior FB season? And I'm wondering about those last 6 years of Carr through today, knowing full well that today (2012), many top recruits are getting pencilled in/verballed just after their junior season of football (that they have their minds firmly going to a top 2-3 choices by sophomore year/football season). My deeper question relates to how much ground work is laid making Michigan an appealing choice to these young men as they make their way through JV in 9th or 9th/10th grades, and then sign on the dotted line a couple years later. Does this help explain the slow recruiting rise for RR? That there were many 9th/10th graders unseen/unrecruited by M staff in 2005 or 2006? Help me understand how this works, how it worked then, etc... Gracias, mgoamigos. |

Hasn't DB or Sailboat previously used the "but the home schedule is chock full of premium games, so the prices of the season ticket packages are going up?" As noted here and elsewhere, instead of $390 plus PSD for 6 games of varying distinction, $490 or $500 (or $515) for 7 incl. Alabama would have achieved what $4.7M for each year (or whatever it would have worked out to) of a home-and-home would do. I guess this is where the angry arguments about who exactly the AD's customer really is comes to the fore...players? Ticket holders? The other comment (not sure who posted) that DB pwned Hollis by getting this game in JerryWorld and garner a home tomato can game in 2013, for added "profits"...well, MSU season ticket holders get Bama in their house. That's pretty nice, too... |

Don't read this as snark. Why does it all have to be about the money? And if it IS all about the money, and this is a good/great deal, then why did the home ticket package average price go up for the 6 home game slate? (I understand that the revenue stream is upset with 6 home games vs. 7-8, but that's not the only thing being debated. And the AD was plenty in the black last year, so was there a "need" to increase ticket prices with the home schedule we have?) See comment/reply below on "home" game. Just figured since we were abandoning a home game off the 2012 schedule, we were going to be the "home" team. |
