I grew up watching Michigan…

I grew up watching Michigan through the 90's to now. I was always SO excited for the start of each season, then the RichRod era happened, then the Brady Hoke era happened, and finally the Jim Harbaugh era happened. And with each one there was a sense a hope that Michigan would once again be relevant. But it hasn't happened. And I've been disappointed every time. Now, it seems I've become accustomed to the low level recruiting, mediocre seasons, loses to both MSU an OSU, and usual disappointment in the bowls. So now, I do believe Michigan Football has lost all appeal and any hopes to being dominate again.

I will forever remember the 2007 Capital One Bowl win.

Get rid of Josh Gattis. He…

Get rid of Josh Gattis. He is a horrible play caller. Tries to be cute with his stupid trick plays and seems to refuse to go back to plays that are working (ex. Deep passes like the one during the Iowa game). Thank God our defense is pretty good.

I'd tell him to get rid of…

I'd tell him to get rid of Josh Gattis and tell Don Brown to make fixing the crossing route defense a priority.

Hmm....

Those comments make me Pete Carroll a little less....

I did use...

I did use a bad choice of words, but you as a buckeye fan I'm sure you understand, UofM, OSU and a lot of other program's fans are passionate about their teams.

I for one, am VERY passionate about UofM and get a little excited about this stuff.

I'm sure a lot of OSU fans reacted the same way when players flipped to UofM.

Why is that?

Why is that?

Guess what?

Guess what I'm here!

God blessed me by allowing me to be born in America where I can say what I want!

Was my post earlier harsh? Yeah probably. Could I have chose not to post it? Yup. But I did, and now it's too late!

I don't know why some people think that their all high and mighty and squeaky clean and have never had to remove their foot from their mouths.

Get over it. If you think you're too good for some of us little people, then by all means....find somewhere else to tickle your pickle.

Wow...

Wow bro, you're totally acting like a choad.

If someone is very passionate about something, and you annoy the crap out of them about making a decision, sure as hell they can get annoyed and let it sway their decision.

Especially if they are 50/50 on the whole thing!

Easy?

Darn right I want it to be easy! I want them to look like total crap and get destroyed every time they play us! I want that program to be an embrassment!

There is a reason why my profile name is, what it is! I hate anything that has to do with OSU!

That's passion.

Again....

Again, since there is no "like" button, I'm just going to post this reply!

Since....

Since there is no "like" button, I'm just going to post this reply!

How do you....

How do you know that I'm not in high school?

Traitor

Two words.....Fu€k you!

Contrary to most people...

Contrary to most people on this site, I really don't think Coach Harbaugh is ever going to come to Michigan. And until proven wrong, I'm going to keep thinking it. The more and more people, analyst and reporters talk about it and ask him about it, I think diminishes the chances even more. The guy has basically already said that he doesn't want the focus on Michigan or where he might coach next.

Disappointed

I'm a little sad that there are Coaches out there that once loved the University of Michigan and it's Football Program that no longer have the desire to come and lead the program back.

Has Michigan lost its once renowned name as a top program?

If not, then why are they not taking the chance to lead us back to greatness?

Do they think there is something wrong, distasteful or hopeless about the program?

It just seems that the love for a program that has meant so much to you and has had such an impact on your life would never dissappear!

Look at OSU and Coach Meyer! He basically retired from a school that he could get any recruit he wanted and he was successful at every aspect, so that he could coach his "Dream Job"! Why is that no longer the case at Michigan?

Come home

That story is pretty cool and I'd like to see Coach Harbaugh come back to Michigan, but something keeps telling me that it's not going to happen.

God please no...

I know it's just a joke, but again, God please no! That dude drives me crazy!

The one plus to having him as a coach would be his recruiting ability. I bet he would absolutely kill it!

sounds like he has a plan.

First off I want to say, I hope the best for Coach Hoke and any Assistant Coaches that do not get retained.

Slightly OT - does anyone have any reactions from Coach Hoke's AC? I'm kind of interested in hearing their reactions to his dismissal.

Couldn't have said it any better.

I fully agree! It's nothing personal, you had your chance, on to the candidate.

He had more than enough chances to make the necessary adjustments and failed.

Michigan IS NOT a stepping stone job to get the opportunity to get higher in life. He knew that the situation was a tough one when he signed up. Maybe he is suited to be a mid level coach, that's fine.

Some people can't hack it, some people can. Time to part ways. Good luck where ever he goes next!

Why?!?

Why does my dang phone frickin do this stupid double post!!!!!!!

Irritating as hell!!!!

I wonder what could've been?

I love that Denard is having success in the NFL! Great attitude and good representation of UofM.

OT - For conversation sake, I wonder if, UofM would've started out using Denard as a running back and kept Tate Forcier or DG to continue to develop their QB skills, how that would've worked out?

Yeah, I know Denard was electric, but he also made our offense one dimensional. With Tate's and Devin's passing and running ability, I wonder if we could've have better off?

I know Tate was a time bomb waiting to explode, but I think he might have been able to keep his craziness in check if he kept playing.

Doesn't really bother me

Beth's death doesn't really bother me that much.

I think he's the realistic option

I personally think that Coach Miles is the more realistic option.

I never really believed that Coach Harbaugh was coming anyways.

Coach Miles is a little crazy, players like him and he can win games!

I remember.....

I remember similar post about four years ago in regards to Rich Rod........ look where he is today!

I think we would have been better off with RR. At leaSt he got better every year.... Just saying.

Question

I'm not the biggest Star Wars nerd, but the first thing I noticed was that the Storm trooper in the opening scene was a black guy, weren't the Storm troopers all clones of Boba Phat? In the previous movies he was a Polynesian guy?

Too funny!

I wish there was a like button, because that comment is too funny!

If...

If Coach Harbaugh shows up, I'd expect Hell to freeze over.

If for some crazy reason he does show up, my expectations are set:
- All five star recruit classes.
- Every year, double digit wins.
- And finally, NC every year, or at the very least runner up.

Maybe....

Maybe Coach Mattison will get offered the HC position?!

I'd be ok with that.

His coaching ability, his recruiting ability, his connection with the NFL and the fact that he has been the ONLY part of the coaching that has developed any talent. Heck, he might even bring in one heck of an OC and assistant staff.

He is a proven coach and his love for Michigan might buy him at least an consideration.

At least we know our offense would continue to be good.

Considering how things went....

Considering how things went last time, he might very well be down playing any interest that he may have or that Michigan has in him.

OT but not really OT, I often find myself wondering what could've been...

Expect nothing less

To be honest, I'd expect nothing less from Coach Mattison. In fact, I think loyalty has some what disappeared from being the norm in today's dog eat dog world. It's some what refreshing to hear about someone actually defending the staff that has been hired by Michigan to run its football program.

I'm trying to be completely unbiased here, but all this crap we are talking about lately is just adding more negativity to an already tense situation. And with how popular this site has been over the past couple years, I'm sure that there is prospects that have gotten on here and read into all the negativity and in turn let it sway their decisions.

We should all just let the AD and his staff decide the future of this program and stop head hunting.

Believe me, I want nothing less than ten win seasons and national championships, but I haven't been hired by Michigan to decide the future of this team.

Stop the sea lawyer talk and start supporting the athletes that have committed their lives to this institution.

I'm drinking......

FRICKIN DOUBLE POST!!!!

I'm drinking......

I started out with a pint of Stone Smoked Porter Chocolate and Orange. Then my Hawaiian buddy Hanalei called me and now I'm drinking bottles of cold saki! Bonzai!

Cool

Hope it's a good game. A good game for the Wolverines!

Main thing...

My main thing is he better win games and lots of them. I'm talking like 9.5 games per year, on average. Including beating OSU and MSU on a regular bases.

If he can do that, I don't care if he can recruit, speak in public, etc.

1. I think to be competitive in today's sports, you have to be willing to be able to give and take. If we try to pull the "this Michigan" slogan, it's not going to work out.

2. I don't give a crap who next coach is. Win some dang games and stop looking like Div II team while doing it!

It's hard for me to say this....

It's hard for me to say this, but I've been feeling very similar.

It's hard, because I remember the days when Michigan was awesome. And I remember watching those games with members of my family that were very important and influential to me, that are now gone.

So, it's very hard for me to let go, but unfortunately I am quickly losing interest.

As soon as..... #2

We don't even have to beat OSU and MSU every year!

I'm just tried of losing every year to them! And most of the time it's not even close.

As soon as.....

He lost me as soon as he stopped having double digit wins!

I personally don't care who our coach is, as long as they can recruit well and win a crap ton of games. Oh, and regularly beat MSU and OSU.

I'm not asking for too much, right?

Good thing it was that Ross.

I originally thought we were talking about James Ross III!

Good thing it ended up being someone else! I could really see some bad things coming out of that!

Hope everything works out

Can only hope that everything gets worked out. If he is found guilty, I hope he works on his issues and learns from it.

Now it's time for Coach Mattison to do his job and get guys out there to make up for his absence.

Dan you double post!

Dang you double post!

Tough Question

That's a tough question, John.

I think regardless, he probably is gone. Which will allow him a clean slate for his next coaching gig(just like RR) to realize where he needs improvement.

I think his coaching staff is descent, with the exception of one, OL coach Darell Funk.

If he were to be given more time, he would definitely have to cut him and get an OL coach that has a proven track record of success. Maybe reach out to the NFL just like he did with Greg. He'd have to do that so there could be an immediate improvement.

He could probably keep everyone else and be alright.

So in reply to your question, I think he needs more time with a proven OL coach.

And contrary of a lot of the bloggers on this sight, I think DG is good. Yes he has made mistakes, but what do you expect from the guy when he is constantly get destroyed by opposing defenses. He's conditioned to feeling rushed and in turn makes bad decisions. He has no confidence in his OL.

Bad AC Selection

I think Coach Hoke is failing in the same exact way that Rich Rod did.

You can be one of the best Head Coaches out there, but if you can't select good assistance coaches, then you are doomed.

Coach Hokes number one failure is holding onto OLC Funk. The OL is the key to everything on offense. OL has been an issue since the beginning, not the OC fault.

RR's problem was Defense, which became apparent immediately once we got DC Mattison.

Drop Darrell Funk and get someone that knows what their doing, so we can protect the QB and open holes for the RB.

Plan and simple.

Anthony Zettel?

Off the subject a little, but anything new on Anthony Zettel transfering to Michigan? I read something a month or so ago about him thinking about it, but nothing as of late. Any updates?
