38 weeks 3 days ago Time for a change at QB

Denard is not a passer period.  Quite frankley he sucks.  He has steadily gotten worse season to season.  He's become so predictable as both a runner and passer that against semi good defenses he is no longer effective.  Teams just ignore the play fake becasue no one else can run either.  Sit him on the bench and let Gardner or Belomy give it a shot.  How could the result be any worse.

41 weeks 4 days ago Elementary my dear Watson

It was clear from the start that this would be the outcome.  Its the same type of punishment that has been handed out in the past (think stonum).  It was also clear from a strategic standpoint that you don't make your intentions know to your enemies until the very last minute.  Keep them guessing.  I actually think it won't be as big a loss as one expects from a running back perspective.  Fitz has yet to have a big game against a stout front seven, just look at the Sugar Bowl.  I actually beleive small quick backs such as Hayes and possibly Norfleet can have a few productive big plays against an agressive swarming defense like Alabama's that will result in scores or set up ones.

Blue plays a great team game and better yet they believe thay can win.  That's what counts.

41 weeks 4 days ago Have Faith

I live in Homer, AK.  It's a small town.  The high school football team has only 14 players.  Last weekend was the first game of the season.  It was played on the road against Kenai, a team that won the medium size school state title last year.  Homer won the game 20-0.  Go figure, Go Blue!

42 weeks 5 days ago The ttruth shall set you free

Stop sweating it if you didn't do anything wrong.  If you had an accountant or tax agency do your return then they should also provide support in any audit.  These audits rarely result in a final determination.  They will raise questions and you will have time beyond any face to face meeting to provide answers and or justify.  Always keep good records especially when you are self employed. As you state you did nothing wrong so nothing to sweat.  Right?

43 weeks 5 days ago Love Affair

I always love to watch a close back and forth game where I don't have to bite my fingernails.

Was anyone else though on barf alert all over again over Brad Nesslers love affair with VT and especially Logan Thomas?  It was the only real downer of the game.

44 weeks 1 day ago Position of Authority

Everryone who is in a position of authority, where it be a parent, coach, teacher, police officer, judge or whomever knows that you don't treat every circumstance equally.  There are different degrees of everything.  These are young kids mentally and its important that those involved (in this case coach Hoke and his parents primarily) take action that is best suited in this instance for Fitzs.  This a "teaching moment" as much as anything else both for Fitz, his teammates as well as other coaches, student athletes, students, future recruits as well as everyone on this board.  No one on this board is privy to the exact circumstances of what happened, period.  When the time comes we should all have faith that Hoke and his parents will make the right decicion that is best for Fitz w/o concern  as to whether he plays or doesn't play in the Alabama game.

How many posters to this thread also post to the Friday or Saturday night drinking thread and then get in their car?   HMMMMM.  Maybe you should miss the Alabama game as well.

45 weeks 2 days ago Cheap Bastards

What you really have to ask yourself is what is it worth to me to not have to get my lazy ass up out of my chair, away from the computer, find my keys, find my wallet, put on a pair of pants, drive a couple miles, stand in line with other customers, pay the bill, drive home, unlock the door, put the pizza on the table, toss the wallet, toss the keys, take my pants back off, sit back down, check new posts, look for Hello posts and then eat pizza.

So your convenience is worth around $2.  This says more about people being lazy then what it's worth to the pizza delivery guy.  Cheap Bastards.  Next time just get DiGiorno's.

46 weeks 3 days ago Always McQuay

I think is was always McQuay and Ross only came into the picture as a backup plan.  By Thursday it was being reported  that McQuay had dropped UM from his list due to #'s crunch.  I think the coaches knew earlier that they weren't going to get him and went for Ross at that point.

46 weeks 3 days ago Best Available Athelte

If you subscribe to the notion that the coaches were going to fill the final two spots (assuming a 3rd spot is being held for Laquon) with the BAA then I don't think Ross fits that criteria.  I think they knew they could get Ross but preferred McQuay and told him the spot was his if he committed know otherwise they would get Ross since no other BAA fit the CB spot that UM had a rilaible chance of getting.  I also think the coaches had a much better shot at Green than everyone realized before the last 24 hrs and were holding a spot for him as well at least through the BBQ if not longer.

46 weeks 5 days ago Let the process play out

It's possible the court case might not be resolved by the first game on September 1st.  Every man deserves his day in court to plead and defend himself if he so chooses.  Once and if he enters a guilty plea or is convicted then its fair to take action beyond the intial indefinate suspension.

If one more Wolverine runs afowl of the lawthough it will bring new meaning to playing in The Big House.

Theodore Roosevelt on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN

"In the first place we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the man's becoming in very fact an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag, and this excludes the red flag, which symbolizes all wars against liberty and civilization, just as much as it excludes any foreign flag of a nation to which we are hostile...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Theodore Roosevelt 1907

51 weeks 13 hours ago I can't believe what I'm hearing

Explain to me again how putting little or nothing down is better than having a smaller mortgage or no mortgage payment at all?  If you had bought your house five years ago you would be somewhere between 20-50% underwater, oh yea but you would still be getting more interest on the money you didn't put down.  The point is no one has a crystal ball and a conservative approach to managing ones finances is always the best approach.

A wise man once said "In life live like no one else so later on in life you can live like no one else".

Having employed this logic I'm going fishing tomorrow, then the next day and the next day after that.  Not becuase I'm rich but because I don't owe anybody anything and I can now live my life on my terms and not the terms of a loan or credit agreement.

If anyone out there thinks debt is the way to financial freedom best of luck to you.

51 weeks 14 hours ago They don't require "credit cards"

All debit cards act in the same manner as either the Mastercard or Visa.  That's why their logos are on your debit card.  You can use them to make reservations just like a credit card.  If you have the money to pay the credit card than you have the cash to use the debit card in exactly the same manner.

Why on earth would you borrow $30K to buy a car?  Buy a beater car and then when you have saved up enough cash for the $30K car go ahead if thats what you wish.  Cars are one of the fastest depreciating assets there are where the car quickly becomes worth much less than the money owed.  Why is that a good thing again?

If you don't have a 20% down payment (or more) you don't need and can't afford a house.  The foreclosures today aren't the result of people who put down large down payments.  It's those who relied on their "Credit Rating" and borrowed with little or nothing down and then values declined.

I didn't buy my first house until I was 39 because I didn't have the money to put down a large down payment.  15 years later I have no mortgage because I focused more on paying off the mortgage early than earning rewards points.

It's not rocket science folks.

51 weeks 14 hours ago FREE money

Do you really believe getting your own money back is FREE money?

You are choosing to ignore the science of spending.  People who purchase with credit cards spend more than they would if they used cash (not a debit card).  The increased spending  outweighs the rewards benefits.  The main underlying reason for the differences in spending is, at least, partly due to differences in the pain of paying.  This is why casinos use chips versus cash at the tables.

Fraud protection?  Consumer liability for debt and credit cards is limited to $50 if the fraud is reported, period!  It can even be $0 for debit cards if you have the right bank.  Fraud protection offered by debit cards versus credit cards is identicle as mandated by law and common practice.

51 weeks 16 hours ago Ignore all the nonsense

If you don't have a credit card don't get one.  If you do cut it up.

Credit cards, and especially rewards programs, exist for one simple reason and that is to get you to spend more.  Even if you pay off every month you will end up spending more than if you paid cash for everything as you go.

Cash has always been King and always will be King.

Save, save and then save some more.  The only way to financial freedom and peace of mind is to save and be debt free.  Credit scores are meaningless unless you want to incur debt.  If you don't have the cash you don't need it!!!!!

Be wise as you are still young.

1 year 23 weeks ago Red Zone Defense

While scoring defense is what wins games (UM ranked #5 nationally after last night @ 17.4 ppg) the more accurate baraomter of a defenses effectiveness is the Red Zone Scoring Defense efficiency.  After last nights game UM was #2 nationally @ 68.29% (50.0% on away games) only slightly behind leader Alabama @ 66.47%.  This is how you win 11 games while at times looking inefficient.
