Also for us Michigan fans we get to enjoy last year's Sugar Bowl again tonight on ESPNU at 7pm to 10pm. Set ur DVRs haha. I cant wait for the Sept 1st at 8pm get here fast. Ill flip between this and us soccer tonight nice.
Thank you for posting this. My DVR took a crap a couple weeks ago and I lost all the games I had stored. Time to rebuild!!
It wasn't pretty.
Who cares if it wasn't pretty?
But then you'll miss the craziness of the second quarter.
I thought the Sugar Bowl was on January 3rd? So confused
Kirk Cousins - if you are reading this - there is plenty of room on my couch. Feel free to stop by tonight.
I don't see how you get punished for playing the fourth-place SEC team and someone else gets to sit on the couch and watch Big Brother win the Sugar Bowl.
He is a Sparty after all.
Be careful those sparties like lighting couches on fire.
is a rather strong word.
Long snapper, no f'ing way!
Hmmm, now how to convince my 2 year old that he'd really rather watch this than Milo and Otis...
I hear their kicker got suspended and didn't even make the trip. Wouldn't it be weird if Beamerball bit them in the ass? Let's hope.
jeez, no van bergen no molk, we beat va tech without those two- i forgot.
we might be alright this year
Where's Molk? DOOM.
That and the 2010 Illinois game are the few wins I'm not sure I could stomach not watching just the highlights. Those were exhausting!
Thanks. Why not relive our BCS victory even if it wasn't pretty at times (to put it lightly)?
Season is close.
"I'd rather win ugly than lose pretty" -Rich Rodriguez
In case you had forgotten, or blocked out, how lopsided this game was...
Passing 128 214
Rushing 56 163
Total 184 377
First downs 12 22
Possession 23:10 36:50
This game was hard to watch live and nothing has changed.
-Molk injury hurt our offensive flow IMHO
-Frank Clark, you looked awesome in this game, how could you be so stupid? I hope he can earn his way on the field this year, preferrably in game 1.
-Denard, man he throws some ugly ass passes, nice spiral, but up for grabs way too often, I know people have a real hard on for the guy and I appreciate him greatly as an athlete and human being, but shit, I'll be glad when we have a pro-style QB, I hope Denard can really make that leap forward in the air this year (with his arm smart asses).
-I'm really glad Gibbons digs the brunettes and I hope Wile punts cause Hagerup can really suck sometimes and he seems to have a mental hang-up going on.
That is all for now, stay tuned........
Being a pro-style QB doesn't make you a better passer.
says you, we'll see. Now don't get me wrong, maybe Denard has really improved his footwork and decision making, but he ain't no Brady, Rodgers, Brees, etc.
Are you honestly comparing Denard to 3 of the best QB's in the NFL? Of course he's gonna be worse than them, pretty much every college QB is
I was just thinking of Pro-Style QB's, there are many though
Stafford, Rivers, the Manning's, Ben, Newton looks to be, etc., there are many more. I want those types of QB's being manufactured at U-M, nothing against Denard, love him, but he drive us batty sometimes, no?
To each their own when it comes to offense, personally I love scrambling QB's. I would take a Steve Young/Cam Newton/RG3 type of guy over a traditional pocket-passer
And yes, while Denard is improving, and very well could have a breakout year (I look at his performance to close out 2011 regular season as hopeful), but what we've seen of him we know he's not the best passer. Anyone who says they haven't torn their hair out at one point or another over our passing game is a liar.
Obviously, watching this game live, the thing that sticks out is how bad the offense was. But watching it now, that defense was pretty damn good. And I agree with bogey. I heart Jake Ryan.
Im glad it was in our favor but Danny Coale got shafted... not enough to overturn the ruling on the field.
His elbow was out of bounds, the ball hit the ground aiding him in the NON-catch, it was the right call.
They coulda called offsides on Gibbons on the last kick if anything though.
That shot from behind and to his right; the ball is between his forearms (not possession) when it touches the ground and clearly rotates up into his hands. Great effort, no doubt. But unless the rules aren't the rules anymore, its just not complete.
Brunette girls ftw!
I found myself shouting at the television a few times, like on the overturned interception ("That hit the ground!") and the fake field goals. I had to remind myself a few times that not only did I know how the game would end, but I had actually seen the whole thing once before.
Watching that made me think of something Mac Brown said. But if the Sugar Bowl was matchup of two SEC teams, it would have been hailed by the ESPN guys as a "matchup of two superspeed defenses that are far and away the best in america" not as an ugly offensive performance.
Remember when Alabama had the WR throw the pass that was picked in the game.
Not ugly offense, but AMAZING SEC DEFENSE.
Just shows how the media fuels the SEC hype.
Which is why September 1, and all SEC matches really, are important.
We need to turn the tide.
I see what you did there.
As Gibbons fends off thoughts of brunettes and boots the ball thru the uprights.
I'm certainly in no rush to re-watch this particular game.
I always love to watch a close back and forth game where I don't have to bite my fingernails.
Was anyone else though on barf alert all over again over Brad Nesslers love affair with VT and especially Logan Thomas? It was the only real downer of the game.
