Logged in for the first time in ages just to say thank you, Seth.  The last paragraph of the final thoughts made me feel that feeling I had been missing all offseason.

I can't quit you, Michigan Football.  GO BLUE!!!

Thanks for sharing, this was a great read.

I've always had a sense of pride that Michigan is known as "The Wolverine State" and a curiosity about them since the football team we love named it's mascot after them.

I love sharing with friends and out of towners that , according to legend, Ohioans referred to Michiganders as "vicious blood thirsty wolverines.." when describing how we defended our position in the Toledo War.

Can we have nice things?  Please let us have nice things.

I hope all of these…

I hope all of these projections are wrong.

If Michigan wins out, no way they get left out of a NY6 bowl.

I don't think they're going…

I don't think they're going to need to rely on Shea very much with the way the o line has rounded into form.   A steady diet of Charbonnet, Haskins, and Wilson will wear them down.

I've talked to a lot of fellow Michigan fans who are still nervous about the game next week.

Guys, it's ok to be confident that they're going to kick state's ass.  It's long overdue and you know the team is going to relish this opportunity.

38-0 Michigan.

If there was ever a year to…

If there was ever a year to blow them out, this is it.  Michigan is better than State in every area this year, Michigan is at home, and Michigan has two weeks to prepare.

I'm not worried about Mork Z'ambonio having Staee hyped up.  Harbaugh has demonstrated that he will have Michigan just as emotionally ready to go.

I can't wait until November…

I can't wait until November 16th.  If given the opportunity, Harbaugh is going to run it up mercilessly and send Mork Z'ambonio out with the parting gift he deserves.  CACKLE WITH ANTICAPTORY GLEE.

So he intentionally let the…

So he intentionally let the team get their ass kicked by Wisconsin?

Stop it with this garbage.  Ridiculous excuse to make people feel better.

One of Ferentz's most…

One of Ferentz's most talented teams after losing two first round tight ends? Not buying it.

Iowa is a solid team as they are most years.  Michigan, as they do most years, has more talent.

Michigan is also at home.  This is a must win if they want the season to have any meaning moving forward, rivalry games aside.  No disrespect to Iowa but Michigan should absolutely win this game.

No excuses.

Same.  I've downgraded my long term expectations of the program from compete yearly for National Titles to compete yearly for Big Ten Titles which they basically are already doing.

We all know the current college football landscape means it's unrealistic to expect to join the Clemson and Bama's of the world.  Just give me a Big Ten Title, please.

"I will not get sucked into…

"I will not get sucked into offseason hype"- Me every offseason before I get sucked into offseason hype.

Oh, who am I kidding!? My expectation is that Charbonnet could come in and have a freshman season similar to what AJ Dillon (sigh) had at B.C.

Stats from Dillon's frosh year- 1589 yards, 14TDs, 5.3 yards a carry

Do I think he'll be that high? No.  Main reason is the plethora of WR talent we have returning and Gattis #SpeedInSpace movement.

However, Charbonnet remains the recruit I'm most excited about in this class for sure.  Homerun hitter at RB changes everything!

Trey Burke.  I love Simpson…

Trey Burke.  I love Simpson but he is an erratic shooter.  If you add Trey Burke to this team, they're unstoppable!  Trey's ability to take over a game, hit 3 pointers/make you respect his shooting ability, and distribute would make this team impossible to defend.

He is referencing that…

He is referencing that another prospect is likely to commit this weekend.  The strong suspicion is he is referring to Jalen Perry, 4 star CB out of Georgia who recently decommited from the Bulldogs.

Roses are red, violets are blue, nobody gives a shit about you.  Come on down to Arby's, shoot some black tar, cry for your dead dreams, die in your car.

Enjoy Arby's.

Truly Amazing.

On this blog, every time you see a stupid ass post, you think, "this has got to be the dumbest post I've ever seen".  Five minutes later, another tops it.  Incredible.

A:  So they can park in handicap spots.

Jersey and pants are both all Jersey and pants are both all maize.
Thank you. I've know for Thank you. I've know for awhile now but I promised my family member I wouldn't make a thread on here about it. Nike/Michigan wanted to keep it under wraps. Cat is out of the bag now though.
It's a fact. I'm nervous as It's a fact. I'm nervous as well but I'll give them a chance.
No change to the helmet. No change to the helmet. Agree that the helmets are untouchable.
All Maize. Can confirm the jerseys will be all Maize. I have a family member who works in purchasing at a Nike distributor. For what it's worth, he said they look awesome. He's also in his early 20s though. If Michigan wins, they'll look great.
Skeptical

"I fully expect this offensive line to be punishing"- Taylor Lewan, 2013

Does that mean I'm not going to buy in?  You bet your ass it doesn't!  Can't wait to see a physical, punishing o-line who can blow d-lineman off the ball again!

Hearing Urban Meyer,  Mike

Hearing Urban Meyer,  Mike Z'ambonio, and Brian Kelly are top candidates.

Time to coach up what we have

I know that's cliche but Harbaugh and Drevno did it at Stanford and I believe they will do it at Michigan too.  The older guys on our line who had struggled had already had at least 3 years  being coached by the old staff when Harbaugh and co. got here.

Is this a blow? Of course.  However, I'm confident in this staffs ability to develop players THEY recruited (have from the very start).  Also, I'm sure the staff will take some late flyers as well.  This class is still going to be special, one that will be remembered for winning championships IMO.

Excellent post.

This stirred up my hatred for them even more.  A lot of painful memories.

The smugness of Dantonio and

The smugness of Dantonio and how cocky their players/fans have gotten over the years.

The fact that I live in Michigan and am a constant huge target for sparty coworkers as my desk in decked out in UofM gear.  Also, I'm the biggest Michigan fan any of my friends know which also means I hear it all year from my sparty grad friends as well.

This game is personal for me.  F what any of them say, this game IS about re-establishing Michigan as the dominant program in this state. Sure, one win won't do that completely but it's a start.

Taking back the state of Michigan is an essential step in our rise back to prominence.

"Just the sacks, mam"

"Just the sacks, mam"

"There isn't a Michigan Man

"There isn't a Michigan Man out there who wouldn't want to go out and scalp those Spartans right now"

I know he actually said this referring to the "buckeyes" but I got to believe that Ufer would have something masterful to say before this one.

After reading his articles, I

After reading his articles, I always wanted Michigan and our Detroit pro teams to prove him wrong.  I'm really, really going to miss that.  He made it fun.

Complete shock.

Growing up (I'm 25 now) I always had animosity towards Sharp for his articles that IMO were overly critical towards Michigan and Detroit sports in general.  However, as I've gotten a little older, I respected his objectivity and actually found his articles and his opinions very interesting.

What I was looking forward to most is when Michigan won a national title and Sharp being forced to write something nice about Michigan.  Freep, DetNews, Mlive, and this blog are all part of my daily scanning for Michigan content.  Freep will never be the same.

Although he was the blog's enemy, he was a hell of a writer and gone way, way too soon.
He was part of what makes sports fun.

RIP Drew Sharp

ahh the ole "you don't have

ahh the ole "you don't have to read them" line.   Then enjoy it!

He's a redshirt junior so he

He's a redshirt junior so he could come back next year.
He could also grad transfer.

Enjoy this year.

Not bashing the OP, but we're 6-0 and have the chance for a very special season.

I just want to enjoy this year, we can worry about next year when it comes. I tend to worry a lot less with an elite coaching staff anyway.

Hate it or love the underdogs Hate it or love the underdogs on top. I'm all in! First real Qb competition in years. Congrats to Wilt the stilt! Saturday can't get here soon enough.
I don't think it's the sizes of the clothes.

I think we've just have gotten fatter as a country in general.  If you look at clothes from the 70's and 80's (even the 90's to some extent), they were all on the more form fitting side.

Just buy some the day of the game.

I've been doing this ever since I graduated college.  Just buy off scalpers the day of the game.

You can usually find some pretty reasoably priced tickets, sometimes even cheaper than average becuase some people just want to get rid of them.

The closer to game time it gets, the lower the price drops in most cases.

Your thoughts?

Curious as to what your thoughts on him are as well.

I've seen him play live.

I'm a freshman boy's basketball coach at a small school in Michigan (Class C) and I watched him play as Onstead took on our varsity team in a tournament earlier in the year.

He was impressive but also he was playing against a school that has a little over 400 kids total so the competition was not that great.

Thoughts..

Concerns-

That is my overall concern with him.  Onstead does not play great competiton and most nights he is the tallest guy on the court by at least 6 inches.  He threw down dunk after dunk but, for someone his size against smaller guys, it wasn't much of a challenge.

Postives-

First possesion of the game, he came down and hit a three at the top of the arc.  It wasn't fluky either, he had a very nice shot.  I doubt he'll be shooting threes at Michigan but he should be able to develop a reliable baseline/top of the key shot. He also was very good free throw shooter.  He was very composed at the line and made the majority of what he shot (sorry, can't remember the exact number).  The article is also correct in saying he runs the floor very well for a big man.  I remember him sprinting down the court to be the recipient of a few ally-oop slams.  His footwork also seems to be a postive as he regularly posted up and caught the the entry pass, faked one way and spun the other for a hook, or turned and faced the basket and drove strong.

So overall, concerns about the talent level he plays with but I also see a lot of potential. With Beilein/Bacari/Lavall coaching/developing him, I think he could evolve into a very good Big Ten post player.  He'll be a 4 year guy who could be a force as he matures.

Double Post.

Please ignore. Thx.

Right on.

I've heard some people say they think this will be the highest ranked class Harbaugh signs because of the hype factor.

I disagree.  As we win more and more (which we will) , we'll start to have our pick of recruits from across the country.

This class was about building relationships with high school programs and coaches in areas Michigan doesn't normally (or at least hasn't for a long time) recruited succesfully.

It'll get easier now.
