to be honest

I don't understand the point of this feature and I never have.

Good for him. I am sure he

Good for him. I am sure he will tear it up in college. It would be a great story if he went to Arizona and set a bunch of program records.

We have a 1,000 yard rusher.

We have a 1,000 yard rusher.

That

is not the historical legacy of the #1 jersey. That was a carrot Lloyd Carr dangled for Braylon Edwards and it worked exceptionally well.

But Jim Harbaugh is a Bo Schembechler disciple and Bo used the #1 jersey as a recruiting tool. You did not have to earn it; you were given it as a freshman. It was an indication of talent, no doubt, and an expectation of performance, but not a reward after years already on campus.

.
I do think a strong AD can push back against those kind of things -- see Indiana basketball, Penn State, Alabama, Texas, etc. -- and hopefully we've got one of those now.
I don't know if we still need to hope at this point. Hackett has knocked it out of the park.
Don't Niners fans hate Greg

Don't Niners fans hate Greg Roman? Who would possibly attribute Harbaugh's career success to him?

I'm sure it breaks Mitch's heart

that you feel disappointed in him.

Clown.

Dude.

He smoked one marijuana.

Give me a break.

Wow

That's pretty smart.

It's just a bunch of giggling

designed to conjure this very response.

Readers without subscriptions see the salacious headline and not the content of the posts; therefore they get nervous/excited/hungry.

The actual messages are comments like "Get more replies! Get this to the front page!"

It's stupid.

A few corrections. ND begged and grovel'd to join the BIG way back in the day and were denied on several fronts. This never happened. Notre Dame and the Big Ten negotiated the Irish's conference assimilation in 1999. The ND faculty senate voted unanimously to join the conference, but the board of trustees overruled the vote. Negotiations were ended and Notre Dame remained independent. You could be referring to some episode in the even more distant past, but that would make you even more wrong. Notre Dame guarded its independence fiercely for a hundred years until that aborted negotiation. You recruit MI, OH, IL and PA with a couple of outliers as your 2013 recruit roster indicates. A couple of outliers? 25 of the current 85-man roster are from outside those four states, and 4 of our 9 2014 commits. We signed kids from FLA, CA, TX, OH, MI, MD, NJ, VA, DC, AZ... So did we. While I would prefer to see UM vs Purdue, there is more history between MSU and Purdue than there is with UM. I assume you mean you'd rather see UM vs Notre Dame, but there's more history in both the ND-MSU series and the ND-Purdue series? Notre Dame's record against Purdue is 33-9 since 1970. That's better than the Michigan series? Why? Blame whoever but I think UM was the culprit for the long breaks here. OK, so you think that. Do you have a reason? Michigan fans have two big reasons for assigning blame. The first is the notice of termination that Jack Swarbrick handed to Dave Brandon on September 22, on the sidelines of the football field literally minutes before the game began. The second is Swarbrick's own admission that he, not Brandon, canceled the series. So...blame whoever but you thinking that UM was the culprit for the long breaks here is easily disproven.
49-3

Carvin Johnson transferred to Hampton University, an FCS school in Virginia, not Arizona.

No. You may not. You may practice your reading comprehension first. You attributed the shame of losing to Hoke's nomenclature, not the final score. In fact, you just did it again, in the comment to which I'm responding. Sometimes this Internet footsy with cute language can be kind of olde-timey fun, like playing tennis in a tuxedo, but it's just not entertaining when your partner is so incomprehensibly stupid. So this time I'll try to be as direct as I can. In fact, let me use your own words. Shit, I won't even use complete sentences. Ready, big guy? Here we go.
You won't catch me trashtalking anybody and saying, "Beat Ohio"
Section 1 no call Ohio State "Ohio."
when all the wind has just been sucked out of that joke, with a loss to 13-seed... Ohio.
Section 1 no call Ohio State "Ohio" because Michigan basketball team lose to Ohio University basketball team. In basketball. Where "Ohio" come from in first place? Come from Hoke. Hoke coach football. Hoke call Ohio State "Ohio."
Because, as a sentient being with a brain, I know that our rivals will only be thinking, "You outta be able to, like, really beat Ohio, before you start talking trash with Ohio State."
Hoke beat "Ohio" in football game. Basketball team lose to Ohio University. Section 1 no call Ohio State "Ohio." Because Ohio U win basketball game. Hoke not lose. Basketball lose. But Section 1 say Hoke phrase dead now. Playtime with causation.
So.

The pain of a 4th seeded basketball team losing to a 13th seeded basketball team is attributable to the head football coach of the 4th seeded basketball team's university because of said football coach's preferred nomenclature for his university's athletic rival. Furthermore, fans of the 4th seeded basketball team's university and its athletic department should consider this information you have so bravely unearthed as they weigh the emotional and philosophical value of said football coach's nomenclature.

Your point is fabulously cogent and well-received. I eagerly await your thread on preparing grilled cheese in a swimming pool.

I don't think this is I don't think this is necessarily a preview of the 2012 helmets. Here is 2014 recruit Damario Jones after receiving his Michigan offer.
We won the Big Ten, you

We won the Big Ten, you fucking clown.

I've also had the chance to

I've also had the chance to meet Brandon. In my experiences with him, he's demonstrated that he loves Michigan above all else. The success of the University of Michigan, as nebulous as its definition is in such a huge community, is his highest priority -- not the bottom line, the revenue stream, the count at the gate. He is fueled by the image of Michigan coaches thrusting championship trophies over their heads rather than dollar signs. His love for Michigan just happens to manifest itself in a way that invites those dollar signs into the conversation. He is, perhaps, not as reverent for traditions that other Michigan men and women hold dear, such as our football uniforms, but he's convinced me that his heart is in the right place.

Sigh.

Braylon is only hurting his brother's recruitment with that behavior.

What a loser.

It's sort of pathetic that

It's sort of pathetic that you've switched characters from open MSU supporter to recalcitrant Michigan troll without even bothering to register a new username.

Ten thousand dollars a year

Ten thousand dollars a year for Clemson basketball tickets?

Holy shit.

He also has an Ohio offer, He also has an Ohio offer, FWIW.
That's an interesting comment

That's an interesting comment coming from you.

After posting the original story, the OP on 247 has since admitted to "paraphrasing" and even misquoting Hoke's comments. He has retracted and revised "30 felonies" four times now.

Yet you press on under the falsehood that the OP's original post was a direct quote. "From a journalist's standpoint, the real story is that Hoke grossly misstated the Florida record."

Fascinating. And wrong. Because he didn't.

It almost sounds like you're intentionally trying to pillory the Michigan head football coach behind a phony guise of journalism.

It reminds me of something. I can't quite put my finger on it.

To conclude, in your own words: I don't understand why assclowns like you still post gibberish like this. Don't reply; I am not wasting my time on you.

Wrong Knight.

That would be Phil Knight, founder and CEO of Nike, not Bob Knight, former Indiana men's head basketball coach and victim of rosacea.

The Michigan helmet is

The Michigan helmet is hideous?

He didn't do anything except put a Bo Block M under the ear.

EDIT:

Wow. Sorry for doubting you, OP. I guess I didn't believe a Big Ten head coach would behave like a five year old child.

Jesus Christ, Dantonio.

No.

They belong to Team 132. The helmet numbers of this season will be a tribute to their legacy. Every time you watch a video or look at a photograph from this season you'll see those numbers and remember how special this team and its seniors were. I think that will be a great memory that distinguishes the trials of 132's seniors.

That's not to say that Team 133 is less deserving of any accolade or commemoration, but the helmet numbers belong to 132.

According to SpartanNation.com

Narduzzi currently makes $240,000 and did not receive any performance bonuses for MSU's appearance in the conference championship game, bowl victory over Georgia, or general destructive capabilities all season on defense. He is due for a delayed raise in February that would bring his salary to $305,000. A startling comment from SpartanNation.com on the pending raise:

That would bring his pay up to the Minnesota/Indiana range. Approximately 6-8th in the Big Ten.

The same site is reporting that Texas A&M's offer is a base salary of $600,000 with bonuses reaching $750,000. In other words, they are at least doubling his MSU salary even after the delayed raise.

Amateur speculation

is that we're dropping Notre Dame.

Personally I don't buy it but that's the uninformed word on the street.

Texas A&M is #13? The 6-6 Texas A&M team that just fired its coach?

6-6 Texas A&M is ranked ahead of the Texas team that beat them? The 7-5 Texas team ranked 16th?

We all know Marell Evans left
We all know Marell Evans left the Michigan program when Rich Rod came in

This is incorrect. Evans actually started the first game of the Rodriguez era at WLB against Utah. He earned a -3 in the UFR, getting dinged for a "critical failure on [a] 40-yard flare."

This is worth sharing,

This is worth sharing, though, whether the response gets out of hand or not. This board has proven in the past that it can wield a hefty sword of influence. If enough people are outraged by Spath's shit, maybe he'll face subscription cancellations or well written emails of opposition or something.

Legit gripe. Literally

Legit gripe. Literally no one was offended by Rich Rod's Score-O appearance. In fact it's impossible for me to fathom how offense could be taken by it. He was the brand new coach at the time. It was a PR introduction. BFD.

Rivals has made no secret of its Rodriguez hatred.

My stars, Clarence, I'm sure My stars, Clarence, I'm sure the MGoBoard appreciates the update, but why in heaven's name are you such an insufferable asshole? At first, I thought you were merely showing some, ah, spirited support for the Pittsburgh Penguins, but it's become increasingly clear that you're simply a bit of a mean man, a vitriolic individual. "You owe me an apology." Good Lord, man, Michigan plays Notre Dame today. Don't you have more important things on your mind than worthless e-pologies and personal insults? I've yet to read a comment of yours that didn't call someone else on this board out as a loser or an ignoramus or a homer. Cool your jets!
Go ahead and post them Go ahead and post them photos, babe. Make sure there's plenty of cleavage.
