The main reason why Minnesota has had such a good program for so many years is that they could play year round, just like Southern schools. Obviously, this is because of the Metrodome. They even used to host a big tournament with a lot of top schools early in the spring when every other Northern team was heading South. The weather plays a big role. The key is to keep the best regional talent North. If they are able to do that, they will be atop the Conference and be able to mix in long NCAA tournament runs like Indiana did this past year.

He wants his guys that he is recruiting in there competing and playing. That also means he needs the scholarships of those who will not be. There is a pretty good chance that the guys who he inherited are not as good as the guys he wants to bring in. No way he is against having the old regime on the team as long as they are not bad for team chemistry. This happens everytime there is a coaching change here at Michigan and everywhere else and you are right, it did happen with Maloney. Coaches have to win immediately, especially here at Michigan.

I was hoping to see some Photo and Video responses already. I am sure if this post was created yesterday, this would have been a huge success. Most that are going, are busy preparing and partaking in the days festivities. This should be requested next weekend as well.

Nothing in the past month to suggest that we will play good basketball against a good physical defense. I hope we have a little pride and stand up for ourselves, but I dont see how that will happen all of a sudden. State wins by 10, disgust

We have a great OF, probably the best in the Big Ten (Offensively and Defensively). That was a no doubter until Will Drake transferred. Where do they lack? Just about everywhere else.
Our Infield is extremely young and our Pitching staff leaves something to be desired. If you do not know who your ace is and who your weekend staff is at this point, then you are in trouble. Pitching has been awful for us in the past few years and it really has held them back. If they can develop some young pitchers, they might be able to hold their heads above water this year, but they are going to need some guys to step up.
The new bats have really affected their run scoring ability in the past couple of years. They way Bakich talks, he knows he cannot live on the long ball and will look to produce runs other ways. Likely by using their speed and putting pressure on teams. In college, that can be very succesful, but you need guys on base and making contact. We will see.
Like everyone is predicting, they will probably not be a threat this year to win the Big Ten, but I bet they give a better effort than in the past few years. They have a chip on their shoulders and are looking to revive the baseball program again. Go Blue!

Below is a very good blog. The author is well respected in the Big Ten Baseball community and is very in depth with his coverage. Covers the baseball in the North and the Big Ten exclusively, which is rare for baseball.

this is a lie. The kid said he was at a volleyball game yesterday, well volleyball season is over. this picture was from a previous time that he went to a vball game. we are going to find out that this was a hoax.

Take this with a grain of salt. Word on the ND message boards is that this story has been linked to Lane Kiffin. I am not kidding, just sharing what I saw. They did not appear to be joking, but who knows with this story. I would be less shocked if this is true, compared to everything else that has come out about this story.

Not trying to bring up the RichRod debate, but it would have been very difficult for Denard to not win the Heisman this year, if he would have still been in RichRods offense. He was great for college football and we have been VERY fortunate to watch him these last few years. I look forward to seeing what the NFL has in store for him, or vice versa.

This discussion is the exact reason why I love this website. Thank you.
In regards to the topic, I could not agree more with the OP. Spot on. People that use Apple productts are probably not aware there are better options out there, but they dont know because they dont care.
To each, their own.
|1 year 4 days ago||Because||
Because he was more signable and demanded less money than Matt Ryan? Also, that year was terrible for QB's. Not saying Jake was underserving, but there were other factors to consider as to why he went #1. Going #1 overall does not mean you were the best lineman, err OT, in UofM's history. If he would have left a year early, he would have been the #2 OT on the board behind Joe Thomas. Hence, the reason he stayed for his senior year.
|1 year 4 days ago||All of this...||
All of this Jake Long being the greatest O-lineman in our history is a little short sighted. Did we forget both Hutchinson and Backus? I think that is what Taylor is saying. Here at UofM there have always been great players that have come before you. You cannot judge yourself off of them, you have to be the best you can be. Backus and Hutchinson have gone on to have unbelievable NFL careers. Long is coming off of a very mediocre year. I think Long is one of the best to come out of UofM, I just think Backus and Hutchinson have to be thrown in that discussion. There are likely more before them, those are just the ones I have actually seen play.
|1 year 1 week ago||On the money||
I think you are right on the money. The students at ND are not MSU-like. They do have brains. If I was there and I saw how much money these tickets are going for (Thousands), I think I would try to get one for myself and gobble up as many as I could to resell them. You could literally make 10k off of this game, if you had access to $150 tickets. There are two sides, obviously. ND will likely never make it back to the National Championship, so going to the game might be a once in a lifetime experience. Buying one ticket and selling how ever many you can get your hands on, would easily pay for the trip and give you put some extra cash to put on bama...
|1 year 2 weeks ago||We need||
We need elite talent at RB and WR. I will take whoever will come our way. Heck, I would take both Isaac and Green, but I do not think either are likely. We have not landed any elite position players that were not die hard UofM fans growing up. This is still a concern and should be noted if we are going to contend for B1G championships and compete nationally. I want this program to be a national power and do it the right way. We are going to need elite talent to do so. So far, we have not shown the ability to develop position players, although, it has only been two years.
|1 year 2 weeks ago||Not there||
We are still no where close to being a legitimate threat nationally. I feel like we are back to where we were prior to 2008. Cannot win the big games, our offense is abysmal, and our defense keeps us in games. Our best shot to be a top tier program was with RichRods offense. I am extremely nervous to see what this offense will become with all of our playmakers gone (Denard). The future is not as bright as it once appeared. We need to get used to a lot of 8-4 seasons and the Capital One bowl.

That did not take long. In the amount of time it took to write a response two people already started bitching. I get it, to each their own. I do not understand if people are too dumb to realize the humor, or if they just like to complain? The Daquan skit is a joke. It is not real!! Embrace it, or dont watch it. There is nothing to have an open mind about. You either get it and like it, or you dont. If you have not liked it, you will not and should stop complaining about it. If you have not noticed, these are a regular part of the videos.
|1 year 4 weeks ago||The||
Where are all the jackholes who complain about the coeds not studying enough and drinking too much? The best part of these videos are reading the complaints from the dbags bitching about how these videos are a terrible respresentation of the students at UofM. Keep in mind, this is one day out of six. This does not happen every day. Most of these students do go on to have succesful careers. Not everyone has to be miserable all of their lives. Having fun every once in a while does not limit your ability to get good grades. In fact, it may help relieve stress and promote productivity.
Pat, you are a genius and are bound for a big break. Keep up the good work. I appreciate your effort and your humor.
|1 year 5 weeks ago||Meh||
I am very indifferent about the video. I think its ok, not great, but not as terrible as most of you think.
What I do find hilarious is the views some of you express about the video like the whining about the video being disrepectful. Hello, you dont think that was what he was trying to acheive? That is what makes the video somewhat funny. The jokes on you for being such a tightass...
|1 year 6 weeks ago||Meanwhile||
Meanwhile, Arizona's offense looked good against USC...This offense is going to create a countless number of threads like this the rest of the time Denard cannot play QB. I have said it before and will say it again: As soon as Denards gone, people will begin bitching about how bad the offense is just like before the basketball on grass era and it is already happening.

Good luck to you and yours this hunting. I love this time of year. Nothing more invigorating than being in the blind, looking to whack da turdy pointer. I cant wait. I am glad there are a lot of others on this board that enjoy doing the same. Good luck and be safe.

Am I the only one that finds Heiko's press transcripts hilarious? I would much rather read these than watch the interview. Great Job Heiko, keep up the good work.
|1 year 12 weeks ago||Unite Hosts||
One of the show hosts came off as an asshole to JDK and Rey. Not sure if that is his schtick, but the way the interview started, clearly through Jack and Rey off. The guy never apologized or mentioned that he was kidding. I thought they handled themselves very well. The freestyle at the end was niiiiccceee. Nice to see them getting a little pub for their hard work.
|1 year 24 weeks ago||Inside the Program||
I was told Stricklin will be in today interviewing from a source inside the program. Boss is at his "final destination" as they sey. MSU is to Boss as UofM was to Hoke, it is where he always wanted to be. He was a lifelong MSU fan and grew up in the area. He has built that program back up and will not be leaving anytime in the near future.
Stricklin will be the ideal candidate for the program, just not sure if they can get him. It will take a pretty good sell job and a lot of money from DB to get him here.
I hope the Sabo talk is complete mumble jumble. Not many young kids will know who he is, so the "name" will not sell the program. No experience recruiting, or coaching, does not bode well unless he can hire a hell of a staff.
