The 4x100 could have been the "big man relay". That was always a favorite event in High School, when the throwers used a shot instead of a baton and ran a 4x100. Generally it didn't count for points.
I don't really see why it would be hard to recruit there. The weather isn't that different from Ann Arbor or Madison, and it's in a big city which seems attractive for 18 year-old kids. Obviously being in a big city hasn't helped Northwestern, either, but I think NW has other problems being a smaller private school.
Wisconsin should bid to have it in the Alliant Energy Center, just as a middle finger to the NCAA. It's smaller than the Kohl Center, and crappier, but its about 5 minutes from campus and technically not a home site.
of the hockey game last night. Michigan looked at least as good if not better than Wisconsin, had a bunch of early opportunities to score but couldn't, and then the game got away from them late.

I went to Wisconsin's exhitbition game against Northern Iowa. They started both halves cold, I think UNI had a 10-2 lead before UW went on a 20 point run or something. It was never really close after that, but UNI did cut the deficit to I think single digits early in the second half.
Kobe King was the one player that stood out to me (in a positive way - they were also giving a lot of playing time to a backup center from Europe who looked really slow). I'm surprised to hear he was a 3-star, he looked the Badger's best player not named Ethan. Of course, it was an exhibtion against a UNI squad that isn't what it was a few years ago. But he is related to a member of the fab-five, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
but you don't want to bet the 50/50 plays, I guess. I'm not a gambler but I'd guess you want to look for teams Vegas is often wrong on and bet those. Vegas basically gets Michigan right, apparently.
Is good for the Badgers. He looked awesome live the last two weeks and now I can see a little better on TV he still looks like the real deal. That game in Camp Randall is going to be awesome.
Look at the success of Fumagalli, who wasn't a big recruit at all (#75 TE). Their offense is great for tight ends, they just haven't had a big talent there. They haven't had great QBs, so shorter passes to TEs are important. They run a ton and like to go big, so TEs see the field a lot. Play action to the TE seems like a classic badger play.
It kills me that they call that a "lake". If it was a lake, you wouldn't be able to drain and renovate it. Plus here in Madison we have 4 real lakes (although 2 are pretty small themselves).
I'm planning on going to Game Day (my office is in a building about 50 yards away, so I can get there early in the morning and hang out). I'm torn between two signs: M (heart) W with a block M and flying W, or "Mirror lake is a drainage ditch". Thoughts on which is better?
Well. Wisconsin has a bye so there won't be much tailgating in Madison. My GF will out of town. There's a solid chance I sleep through the Rutgers game.
I have now lived in Madison for 4 years, after 4 years of Ann Arbor. I know people here won't want to hear this, but I like living in Madison more than Ann Arbor. It's bigger without feeling bigger, so there's more to do, more choices of bars and restaurants, but doesn't feel more crowded or dirty.
The Madison Mallards (Northwoods League) have an all you can eat/drink section with a lot of local craft beer. It is a lot of fun.
Unrelated, but if anyone is in western Virginia (not West Virginia) the Salem Red Sox (in the Roanoke area) are a lot of fun. I went once because tickets were something like $5 (Monday night) and won free tickets to another game playing bags (aka cornhole). Went on a Friday using the free tickets and it was a local wing contestest - $5 to be a "judge", which got you 15 wings, and that turned into all you can eat when there were left over wings.
Win. I don't care what it look likes. The college game is high variance, just win. This isn't the 2012/2013 team, but it's a lot better than any team from 1999-2008.
The guy at pride of Detroit at least seems to think it is because of a switch to zone blocking. I'm inclined to believe him based off the draft profiles and past performance of the o line. They are a bunch of guys built for blocking power, not quick enough for zone blocking. That doesn't explain the blown pass protections, though.
still hates Stanford because of their band at the '72 Rose Bowl. He played in the Michigan band at the time. He will still complain about Stanford's band goofing off.
