Here's the NBC Sports piece - (LINK)
"Mesko’s signing could well mean the Steelers will be replacing Drew Butler, who handled the punting duties in 2012 and beat out veteran Brian Moorman this summer. Butler posted a gross average of 43.8 yards and a net average of 37.8 yards a season ago."
It does mention also that Drew Butler was waived about 45 minutes ago too. Good to see Mesko land somewhere very quickly, just as we thought he might.

Unfortunately, Kenny Demens didn't spend long on a 53 man roster. Released by the Cardinals today.
September 2nd, 2013 at 10:22 PM ^
and found two on the waiver wire. But the article on the Cardinals' website made the point that Demens qualified for the practice squad, so there's a good chance he'll end up, or start, there. The Cardinals have only named 4 of their practice squad as of today, so I wouldn't write him off yet. If they thought he was good enough for the 53 as an undrafted rookie before they found guys to fill a greater need, sounds like they'd like to keep him.
EDIT: Hmmm. They've signed several people to their practice squad, including two LBs, one who was cut before Demens (i.e., never made the 53-man roster even for a few minutes), and the other from another team, where he was listed as a DE. There's still room, but can't imagine they'd sign another LB when they have plenty on the roster. Very odd.

Good signing. Figured he'd not be sitting on the couch too long.

cut him, he's been the best punter in the league since he went into the NFL, I don't get it.

The Pats assume that Ryan Allen can do a comparable job for $1M cheaper, so they want to use that extra money more efficiently elsewhere. Meanwhile, Zoltan will make the next 10 pro bowls with the Steelers

I detest the Steelers. But good for Zoltan, go blue!

Demens, Kovacs, Molk, Roundtree, Mealer, and Omameh got the roster ax. Kovacs will get a look on the Dolphins practice squad. Hopefully others will as well.
