Zach Smith arrested for DUI (OVI) in 2013

By itself, it's not the kind of thing that would get a guy fired.  But it does add a data point making you wonder why the hell this guy was kept around at OSU (or how OSU didn't know about it, if they go that route).  Looks like it was never reported in the press.

The thing that's interesting here is that in 2016, Nebraska WR coach Keith Williams was arrested for DUI.  At the time, he and Zach Smith were in a recruiting battle over WR Tyjon Lindsay.  Smith took the opportunity to take a shot at Keith Williams on twitter which is just such a douche move.

I don't know if that hurts Meyer's case to return, but certainly doesn't help it.

I don't really get why Urban kept him on staff. Even with the "elite recruiter" angle. Meyer is the reason kids commit to that program. He could've replaced Zach Smith with anyone else and still would've gotten some of the best talent out there. Meyer is his own best recruiting weapon, but his own loyalty to his mentor may be his undoing.

As Brian aptly noted in his post It's Your Job to Know, the fact that Zach Smith kept this arrest secret (or allegedly secret) from Urban Meyer doesn't absolve Meyer.  It makes him reckless for taking a fourth chance on a guy who would get arrested for DUI and then not tell Meyer like he was supposed to.  Meyer should have known.
