Zach Charbonnet Appreciation Thread

Hear hear! Zach was a saviour today
September 7th, 2019 at 4:07 PM ^
Absolute beast
September 7th, 2019 at 4:07 PM ^
His yards could have been 50% more had the blocking schemes been cleaner and the play calling been better.
September 7th, 2019 at 4:12 PM ^
And if Shea keeps 6 or 7 of those...I think that's most important. If Shea holds the LBs from crashing in by keeping a few he Zach gets 150 easy.
September 7th, 2019 at 4:35 PM ^
THIS^
Zach faced a stacked box on almost every run in the second half.
September 7th, 2019 at 4:11 PM ^
Stay healthy my friend. All the other rbs are below average.
September 7th, 2019 at 4:17 PM ^
I think Turner has some good qualities also. But ZC is far above.
September 7th, 2019 at 4:18 PM ^
Turner also whiffed on the block that stripped Shea’s blindside.
September 7th, 2019 at 4:38 PM ^
Turner is a very solid runner...but I'm not putting him in obvious passing situations
September 8th, 2019 at 12:55 AM ^
I agree. ZC is obviously the go to and hopefully Tru can come back for his pass blocking.
September 7th, 2019 at 4:13 PM ^
Zach = Mr. Worldwide
September 7th, 2019 at 4:13 PM ^
Yeah he had no chance on most of his runs. No threat of Patterson pulling or passing for an entire half of the game and army knowing every single play they were going to run it right up the middle.
horrible coaching performance in so many ways.
good game charbz
September 7th, 2019 at 4:16 PM ^
They lose today without his production. This "veteran" offense is now relying on a true freshman.
September 7th, 2019 at 4:17 PM ^
With this offense, it’s like they give the defense a head start on every running play. Despite being hit almost immediately nearly every time he got the ball, he was still (almost always) able to make positive yards. He might already be their best offensive player.
September 7th, 2019 at 4:17 PM ^
Yes. They over used him, but he is a baller. Big time thanks Zac.
September 7th, 2019 at 4:20 PM ^
It was very clear that Michigan wanted to run run run all over Army. Not many designed deep passes at all. ZC stepped up big time. Got some good first downs and all those tds.
September 7th, 2019 at 9:11 PM ^
They don't run designed deep passes because Patterson hits them 10% of the time at best.
September 8th, 2019 at 12:53 AM ^
He hit black in the first game for a deep ball.
Pattersons game is scrambling and throwing slant passes and crossing passes.
michigan just needs to incorporate more of these.
September 7th, 2019 at 4:21 PM ^
If he is smart he will transfer ASAP. This team is going nowhere.
September 7th, 2019 at 4:32 PM ^
Oh fuck off
September 7th, 2019 at 4:37 PM ^
Maybe he'll transfer to Army. He'd kill it there.
September 7th, 2019 at 7:17 PM ^
He'd kill it in almost any competent offense
September 7th, 2019 at 4:28 PM ^
Just think of how many yards he would have if the defense actually had to respect the QB run.
September 7th, 2019 at 4:38 PM ^
This too. Why not use Shea on the QB sweep? It has seemed to work previously?
Shea hurt? Then use Dylan on the QB sweep, he's a beast! I am not an advocate for a two-QB system, but use them WISELY.
September 7th, 2019 at 7:21 PM ^
If he's hurt his presence on the field shouldn't be putting the offense in jeopardy. At the very least, imo, McCaffrey should have been inserted the very next drive after Patterson's first fumble and then for the rest of the game. That is, if the QBs really are, as Harbaugh has strongly implied, 1A and 1B.
September 7th, 2019 at 4:37 PM ^
Charbonnet is great, and I can't wait to see what he can do.
The coaching staff has done him a disservice. They need to use the talent they have, instead of pretending it is 1965 and running it up the gut every single chance they have.
September 7th, 2019 at 4:40 PM ^
It was the right decision given that Shea was starting to get the yips from all the blitzing. Shea is still O'Korn-esque under pressure.
September 7th, 2019 at 5:38 PM ^
Sadly, your "O'Korn-esque" is all too accurate. His lack of poise is astounding at times. He is playing like he is afraid to fail-thus insuring failure. You have got to play this game fearlessly.
September 7th, 2019 at 7:23 PM ^
He was a turnover machine when he played at Ole Miss, not sure why anybody would be surprised by his turnovers with Michigan.
September 7th, 2019 at 8:16 PM ^
Watched him play Cal in his SO year and thought he was lackluster at best. Lots of dumb decisions, took a bunch of sacks and made some bad throws.
It was a match up between two equal teams.
The problem: Cal’s HC is the architect of Wisconsin’s D and he was eaten alive.
September 7th, 2019 at 4:46 PM ^
If we had an offensive line he could get 200. The only bright spot on the team.
September 7th, 2019 at 5:16 PM ^
Zach is excellent!
Gotta get Runyan and DPJ back.
September 7th, 2019 at 5:26 PM ^
Came here for this. Been desperately waiting for a star recruit to be a solid producer.
September 7th, 2019 at 6:27 PM ^
Poor damn Zach Charbonnet......you crushed it today. We won because of you, in spite of our coaches and QB.
September 7th, 2019 at 6:29 PM ^
Looks like he learns quick too. Was he coached up or did he learn it on his own? The second failed 4th and 2 and the OT touchdown looked like the same play. Was it split zone with a pulling arc??? Looks like the army DE dove inside the in-line TE both times plugging the intended hole. First time Charbonnet goes straight into a nonexistent hole. Second time, he goes outside the TE/DE block and then takes on 2 army second level defenders to get into the end zone.
September 7th, 2019 at 6:34 PM ^
Very grateful he decided to come to Michigan! There is no doubt we needed him today.
September 7th, 2019 at 7:25 PM ^
Bet on his 21st birthday he celebrates with Dos Equis.
September 7th, 2019 at 7:44 PM ^
I definitely appreciate Zach. I also appreciate Jake Moody!
September 7th, 2019 at 8:13 PM ^
As for the OL, c’mon Ed, get these guys into form.
Asking a true FR to meet the D 2 yards deep in his own backfield is nonsense.
September 7th, 2019 at 10:34 PM ^
Good post. I was thinking of doing the same. 33 carries and NO FUMBLES!
September 7th, 2019 at 10:40 PM ^
Zero chance we win this game without ZC. Loving what he brings. But at 3 YPC there’s no reason he should get 30+ touches with this receiving corp. I mean there is a reason, the qb, but in general there should be no reason.
September 8th, 2019 at 1:56 AM ^
The kid is a warrior.
Feel bad they are running him into a stacked box over & over though.
Wasn't that what Higdon was pissed about ...?
