Your Arena Rawk Suggestions
I'm of the marching band generation who fought the arena rawk that currently pollutes our Saturdays. But, day dreaming about Speed In Space and how good Nico will be, I was thinking they should play the very beginning of "I'm Waiting For The Man" by The Velvet Underground & Nico on third and long.
Yeah, it's a stretch and no one would get it, but it's off season. So... What clip of pump-up arena rawk would you like to hear in the stadium and bonus credits to player tie-ins?
Domination by Pantera
FUCK YES!!!!!!
Play the outro/solo on a loop.
I came to post this. Specifically the riff at the end.
If you're doing Pantera, then you also must do Walk, at least the intro.
“Centerfield” by John Fogerty, as a walk-on for the defense when Dax learns how to take away the deep ball against everyone.
I am a Phish fan, so I would have to say Tweezer Reprise. Other stadiums do it and it gets the crowd pumped.

With player tie ins, I will stick with Phish, and go with Wilson each time Tru Wilson gets a first down or touchdown.
I came here to say this exact thing. Tweezer Reprise is a great hype song.
"The Sound of Silence" by Simon and Garfunkel, to honor the "down in front!" bluehairs who sit between the 40 yard lines at The Big House.
Underrated comment of the week!
LOL....so true, perhaps a moment of silence instead so they can hear themselves talk and relax while the wine and cheese settle in.
“Some Bodies Gonna Get” it by Three Six Mafia
“Somebody gon' get they ass kicked
Somebody gon' get their wig split”
Either that or anything by Frederic Chopin.
Down on the Street, Iggy and The Stooges.
Local and well-matched to the RAWK spec.
Definitely "Pour Some Sugar on Me" by Def Leppard.

That song was the anthem to my Freshman year of college, great bar song
All songs played should mean something to the team but my personal suggestions (softball pregame list):
Here comes the boom - Nelly
B.O.B - OutKast
Any of Southern Hospitality, Move Bitch, or Get Back - Ludacris
Faint - Linkin Park
Probably too obscure but Lemon Scent by Dead Sara
Natural by Imagine Dragons
WWE themes. Stone Cold Steve Austin, Chris Jericho, HHH, Seth Rollins.
Anything from this album, although I personally prefer the live version.
MMB!
Yes!
my arena rawk suggestion is.... turn it down!
i don't mind most of it and actually like some of it, even the stuff i don't like doesn't bother me, but when the volume is enough to trigger seismographs in the middle east, none of it is enjoyable.
you can stay on my lawn, but don't say i didn't warn you about the meadow muffins. oh, and wear your boots because some of them are pretty big.
not going to start a new thread over this, but seth sent out an HTTV/kickstarter email just now. he has a list of about 30 folks who haven't given a physical address to send the hard copy to. one of the people is listed like this:
- A person with immediate eligibility who can guard 2-4 and shoot 40% from range
too funny. who can it be....?
Juwan Howard was also listed.
Cirice by Ghost. Has a long build up but when it hits, it rules. Could even sound amazing if played by the band.
Set it Off by Audioslave.
And if I was a closer, the breakdown of Closer by NIN every time I came in in the 9th. I know they're different words but the end of Closer is intense - I imagine it would intimidate any opposing batters I was about to face.
+1 as almost the entire Audioslave album would work.
Your Time Has Come or Drown Me Slowly
Raining Blood by Slayer, obviously.
I was just going to say the beginning of South Of Heaven would be awesome to hear in the Big House .
It would sure get me fired up for some football among other things
"Fight the Power" - Public Enemy
"King of Rock" - Run DMC
Bodies by Drowning Pool.
Pretty sure there is nothing you can't run through when this song is on 10. One must use this song wisely.
Anything by Tee Grizzley or Sada Baby - need the local touch. I don’t even know if “clean” versions exist for those two though lol.
I despise non-marching band music being played at college games. The point of a pep/marching band is to.....wait for it.....play MUSIC. I know...I know...what a WEIRD concept. One of the beautiful things that separates college sports from professional sports is the marching/pep bands. Non-band music does not belong at college games.
You hate everything.
I'm cool with it tho
I get your point for the halftime show, but I'm not sure you realize it that most of the players would strongly disagree with you about intra-game music.
you really are the resident Michael Wilbon.
College football was also full of so many "traditions" that have thankfully gone away like
- 2-way players,
- leather helmets,
- playing thru concussions, and
- the exclusion of African-American players.
There is room for both, but I'm with you in that it should at least be the band, complemented by some fun/meaningful/participatory piped in segments, it seems like right now it is the other way around.
There is too much of an either or dynamic going on, the band and the music should be integrated, maybe with the band playing a segment, then piped in, then the band as follow up, all with the crowd singing/jumping/yelling whatever.
Angel of Death - Slayer
They can continue playing Zombie Nation anytime Penn State is in town. I hear it's a favorite of theirs.
These are exclusive to the defense:
Jailbreak - Thin Lizzy
Mountain Song - Jane's Addiction
War Pigs - Sabbath
? of the ?
It's Raining Men by the Weather Girls
