Yesterday's game and recruiting

Submitted by MinorRage on

So it sounds like (towards the end of the game anyway) there was a ton of excitement and noise in the stadium. One of the biggest visitors over the weekend, according to Scout, was 5* Sammy Watkins. I would think both qb's showed that they could pass the ball, and I know a couple years ago people were a little fearful that our WR recruiting would have a major dropoff with a running spread. What kind of impact does yesterdays game have on a big time wideout?? I'm sure we'll hear more when TomVH gets back to computer access, but it'd be nice to talk about something a little more positive.

To sum up the Scout Article

He loved the visit, the loss didn't really have any effect on his view of Michigan. He loved it when the crowd went nuts in the 3rd/4th. He loved how much they threw it yesterday (with Tate, mainly). He was worried about the weather, but said it was a pretty good day yesterday, and if he's moving around it wouldn't matter that much anyway. His AD has a condo up in Michigan and many connections to the area. He has a great relationship with the coaches, and a certain dreadlocked QB called him up this week, just to chat. He guaranteed Sammy that he could get him the ball, a lot, and had a fun time talking. Right after the interview, he and Dallas were heading over to hang out with said dreadlocked QB. He and Dallas will be back up sometime in January (a matter of weeks before NSD!) for their official.

All in all, sounded like a pretty kickass visit for him.

Thanks, I like the weather comment, moving around it wouldn't matter much.  What was the weather like yesterday, I heard it was nice on TV and some fans were in t-shirts.  Great that they are coming back for official, but was hoping if Dallas commits, it would be early.  Oh well, I just hope he commits.

I had phenomenal seats and was within reaching distance of Dallas Crawford, Timmy J, Watkins and Wormley. Of course I cheered for them and told them to come to UofM but didn't get much of a reaction. They were playing with their phones most of the time.

Scout Article about Crawford:

It was also set last night before he and Sammy visited Shoelace. Like Watkins, the weather didn't bother him, and he really loved to feel the place shake when Tate ran the TD in. Michigan is number 1 right now, with Miami a close second, followed by Tennessee and WVU. He saw that he could definitely contribute right away, as a freshman. He'll be taking a few more visits, but he wants to decide by the end of the season (NOTE: And still come up for an official in January, after his season is over. Even if he does commit elsewhere, it looks like he'll be back up in January). When asked what he wants from a school, he said atmosphere (check), a place he likes in the offseason (assumed check?), a great degree (check) and opportunity to play (check).

If weather is an issue I would prefer they not do their officials in January ....unless it is at our bowl game- Go Blue!.
