WVU Offense post-RichRod
An interesting read from Dr. Saturday on WVU's offense without RichRod. It doesn't really give an opinion one way or another, but does demonstrate the significant drop off the team experienced once he left (i.e., peripheral RichRod fluff).

Yeah, last year they should have been a lot better. Hopefully Bill Stewert screws it up and WVU falls back down where they were before RR.

I don't understand how WVU sucking helps us.

It goes to show that it wasn't necessarily just the on-field personnel (difficult to replicate) that succeeded during RR's years at WVU; It was the schemes and coaches (which we now have). Like I said, peripheral RR fluff. What about this don't you understand?

I understood that part, and had no problem with your post whatsoever. I definitely think the decline thus far shows that RR was doing a good job. What I don't get is in regard to cpt20's post... Why should we hope that WVU starts to crash and burn? At this point it doesn't help us at all.

Oh... I don't know, because they're petulant crybabies that deserve to never come close to the success they had with RR?

I suppose.
We need to lay off WVU already. Look, WVU is basically all that state has as far as sports go, and we've hired both of their big-time sports coaches. How could they not feel a little bitter? Let's just be thankful that kind of thing doesn't happen to us (in football, at least; it has happened in basketball).
Then I will lay off of WVU. The memory of all the bile that flowed from WV to MI is still too fresh in my memory.
When they hired Stewie, I predicted .500 or worse this year and 3 or 4 wins next year. So I guess I have an interest in seeing my prediction validated, even though it was done in anger as a response to the WV cyber-lynch mob.

With recruiting, like with LaTwan Anderson.
EDIT: Why am I getting negged?

There's no reason for us to hope that other schools' football programs fall apart. We should take pride in winning recruits, not in getting them because another school started sucking.
I gave you a bump here, this should not have been negged.

It might boost the perception of Rich Rod. Not like he needs the boost, though.

I think I can see the point. Strictly in terms of recruiting, guys who are perfect for a spread that were previously considering WVU and Mich may now back off of WVU because they are no longer running the spread and shred. Although I don't think we have lost many recruits to WVU. I suppose you could argue that Michigan may have wanted Tavon Austin, Logan Heastie or Eugene Smith last year. Now guys of that nature will be more available to us I guess.

RR Rulez!!! And it could help with some recruits (Mr. Anderson), who strangely list both schools.

I think the Dr. was a little bit wrong in his writings. Stewart and Mullen have said multiple times they aren't moving away from the spread; rather, they just want to pass out of it more (balance). He doesn't mention at all that Jarrett Brown is still very fast and can run very well.

in a bit of an identity crisis right now. It sounds to me like they are migrating to pro style. But their recruiting of Eugene Smith, Barry Brunetti and Jeremy Johnson indicates that their future is still the QB option.
Well said about an identity crisis. This also hurt them last year as the article stated. They return only one starting lineman and no Pat White. Just because they are going to pass more doesn't mean they'll be any good at it. The Stewie hiring still doesn't make sense.
Their problems were more in short yardage situations (where they used Brown as an RB...) and in third down conversions. Still, I don't understand how you can have Pat White and Noel Devine and lose two touchdowns per game off your scoring average. Yikes.
Last year they just seemed confused like did they want to pass more or did they want to run alot more. They just seemed like they couldn't figure it out.
