Would Warde Manuel even make the right hire?

I honestly don't know. Is there anything in his track record to suggest he could make a Don Canham hire?

Jeff Scott from USF, Jason Candle from Toledo, Billy Napier from Louisiana and Seth Littrell from North Texas.  I'd go after Jeff Scott.

I love Juwan, but I think we need to pump the brakes on if it is a successful hire. He has recruited well and so did Harbaugh in the beginning. We haven't seen him coach in a BTT or an NCAA tourney. I think we are cautiously optimistic about him. Not sure if Warde can pull it off but he needs to block out the noise and do what is best and that is clean house. We should expect far more out of this program. We haven't even been close to a Big10 championship since 2003, except maybe 2006 and 2016.

No Michigan AD has made the right hire of a football HC since Lloyd Carr took over back in the 90s.  It doesn't matter if it's a lazy process put on hold so the head man could go sailing, if it's corporation inspired process, or the entire Michigan nation rises as one to get the perfect candidate just as his NFL owner had fortuitously soured on him, whoever we get will have the worst performance of his career.  If we are lucky, the first season will be better than expected, which will merely set us up for having our dreams crushed without pity as the former savior's tenure slowly slips beneath the waves.

13 seasons: 2 Bowl victories, 1 win over Ohio State.  And remind me again, how many National Championships did Bo win?  How many Rose Bowls?  Even the high water mark of our fondly remembered golden age is 10-2 with a loss to the Pac 10 in the Rose Bowl.

Michigan should hire current Ferris State HC Tony Annese.  His entire coaching career has been in Michigan.  Annese has posted a cumulative 225-45 (.833) overall record at the prep and junior college levels,  87-16 at Ferris State.

Warde Manuel is a bureaucrat who isn’t impressive in group or private settings, and is the typical company man, in the worst sense.

Ask him about anything of import to the average fan, and you’ll find he’s dismissive (above it all) and distracted/disconnected (like he’s so above it he’s looking for the next donor conversation) and isn’t really “in the room”.

Come to think of it, he’s not unlike a certain head football coach.

The the current administration I wouldn’t expect big changes, just more apathy.

The problem is those in charge will demand somene with ties to the program.   Hopefully big donors say hire the best coach available (non-michigan) or they pull $$.  That is our only chance.

If they hire someone with ties just because they have ties this program is done for good and will never recover.  It's on the verge of being forever done already.   If you can't win you can't recruit, if you can't recruit, you can't win.  Quickly losing all faith in this program has any chance they ever recover from the last 13 years.

Juwan’s looking like a great hire.  The hockey team’s got 3 of the top-5 projected picks in the 2021 nhl draft.  Kevin Ollie won a NC at UConn.

Seems premature to baselessly question his ability.
