The worst part of all this is...
At least until last year, even if we crapped all over the football field, I could always look forward to the basketball season with Beilein at the helm. I could always rely on a fun NCAA run. It was really nice having that safety blanket.
Now that is not even an option. What the heck am I supposed to do now? I am Jets/Knicks fan (grew up in Long Island) so professional sports is not going to do anything.
How is Gears of War 5? Is new Call of Duty going to be any good?
September 23rd, 2019 at 10:46 AM ^
Lol yeah ok guy. People weren’t going into seasons thinking that until after the plane crash B1G Tournament run.
Revisionist history.
September 23rd, 2019 at 10:50 AM ^
Yes, other people may not have. But I have been a big fan of Beilein from the day one. You can check my post history. I have never complained about Beilein.
September 23rd, 2019 at 11:02 AM ^
Well then you still have the Cavaliers. He didn't die.
September 23rd, 2019 at 11:10 AM ^
I am already a Knicks fan, how much more suffering is enough?
September 23rd, 2019 at 11:30 AM ^
Become a Lions fan.
September 23rd, 2019 at 11:46 AM ^
This was good.
September 23rd, 2019 at 11:13 AM ^
Maybe give Juwan a chance? Just an idea.
September 23rd, 2019 at 11:43 AM ^
Huh?
Except for a few outliers, Michigan basketball has been generally enjoyable since like 2011. The thing that really changed after the plane crash was how they played in the B1G tournament.
September 23rd, 2019 at 12:51 PM ^
You must’ve not been been here during the 2014-15, 2015-16 and pre plane crash 2016-17 when nobody had any good expectations.
September 23rd, 2019 at 1:16 PM ^
No, I didn't miss any of that. You are greatly exaggerating how different it was a pre-plane crash. It doesn't matter if people were expecting Final Four runs or not. Basketball has been more enjoyable than football for a while. And regardless of the expectations, there was a sense of trust that Beilein would have the team at a certain level.
September 23rd, 2019 at 10:47 AM ^
Borderlands 3 seems to be pretty good so far. Outer worlds comes out in October.
September 23rd, 2019 at 10:51 AM ^
I must say that this year’s Madden is awesome. Never have been a fan, but wanted a football game and it did not disappoint.
I found myself playing PlayStation on a Saturday afternoon instead of watching Michigan. Something I have never done. Shit is depressing.
September 23rd, 2019 at 10:52 AM ^
Holding out for Last of Us 2. Probably one of the best games I've ever played, regardless of console.
September 23rd, 2019 at 10:50 AM ^
With Tom Brady and Chase Winovich playing in Foxborough I just watch the Pats and pretend it's Michigan..... :-)
September 23rd, 2019 at 10:51 AM ^
Hopefully the NCAA will let us start allowing players to profit from their likeness soon and it will help idk.
September 23rd, 2019 at 10:52 AM ^
So Michigan basketball will suck now? Now that's a hawt take!!
Forget the video games, play with yourself.
September 23rd, 2019 at 11:10 AM ^
I did not say they will suck. It is just no longer a safety blanket because we really have no idea what is going to happen. Beilein was the best coach Michigan ever had, the chances are whatever Howard does, the team will not be as good as it was under Beilein.
September 23rd, 2019 at 10:52 AM ^
You're a Knicks fan? Still? Hahahaha
September 23rd, 2019 at 11:00 AM ^
This is usually the response I get when people find out I’m a Michigan fan.
September 23rd, 2019 at 10:54 AM ^
I'm actually looking forward to this basketball season more than any recent one.
September 23rd, 2019 at 10:57 AM ^
It's interesting. I'd have a hard time labeling what my feelings are about this new season, staff, and team.
Excited, anticipating, a bit terrified, perhaps a bit skeptical. Hoping for the best, which is what I think we're all going to need after this football season lol
September 23rd, 2019 at 11:32 AM ^
Agreed. Those kids didn’t forget how to play basketball, and I think Juwan will have them playing loose and confidently.
September 23rd, 2019 at 10:55 AM ^
I'm playing through the first two Borderlands currently forgot how good they were.
September 23rd, 2019 at 11:02 AM ^
a 3 star Ronnie Bell is leading the team in catches... DPJ, Nico, Tarik... are behind Ronnie Bell in catches. That says a lot.
September 23rd, 2019 at 11:09 AM ^
This post obviously blows, but the new Call of Duty Beta was open during the weekend and it was a lot of fun. I had gotten away from the series because it got a little too futuristic and crazy, but this game goes back to the roots a bit and played really well.
September 23rd, 2019 at 1:02 PM ^
+1 for "This post obviously blows,"
September 23rd, 2019 at 11:10 AM ^
I'm still excited for basketball. In fact I can't wait.
September 23rd, 2019 at 11:14 AM ^
Oh good grief. Get over it.
September 23rd, 2019 at 11:15 AM ^
Hey, we dont know how Howard is going to be at head coach. It will be fun watching how the team develops. We got some guys back so its no stretch to say they will middle to upper level big10 team. Chin up dude, football is important to me too but In have other things in my life to worry about, oh and the surge 2 comes out this week, im looking forward to that one.
September 23rd, 2019 at 11:15 AM ^
It's way to fucking early for this post.
September 23rd, 2019 at 11:16 AM ^
The worst part of all this is the mods aren't able to keep up deleting all these random thought threads
September 23rd, 2019 at 11:40 AM ^
I'm not sure what's worst--the terrible posts or the terrible thread titles.
September 23rd, 2019 at 11:18 AM ^
I'm thinking about taking up reading books.
September 23rd, 2019 at 11:32 AM ^
What are those?
September 23rd, 2019 at 11:43 AM ^
For some reason I'm not worried about basketball. I probably should be more concerned than I am, but time will tell. That team is loaded with guys who have won a lot of basketball games, who have played for a national title, and who just flat-out know how to win. Howard may not have been a HC yet, but he's spent a lot of time as an assistant coach for one of the most stable, successful organizations of the last decade. Learned a lot from a great coach in Erik Spoelstra, and a legend in Pat Riley.
Does that mean he's automatically going to be a great HC? No, it doesn't. But word around the league is that he was one of the better assistants out there and was a guy who knew what he was doing. I do think this season will have its bumps and bruises, but if Howard can hit his perceived ceiling as a coach, he can do some truly great things here.
September 23rd, 2019 at 11:58 AM ^
Agree, Michigan sports, for a UofM fan, is basically dead. Aside from M basketball, which is a big question mark.
Looking forward to a Wings team that won't be one of the five worst. And a Pistons team that might win some games and sneak in to a 7 or 8 seed.
Ugh, that's the best we have.
September 23rd, 2019 at 12:00 PM ^
Gears of War 5 is pretty solid. Just finished up the main campaign playing co-op with a buddy this past weekend. After watching the first half of the game it was nice to just chainsaw some aliens. Normally my Saturdays are for CFB but I just couldn't get into it and spent more time playing video games.
September 23rd, 2019 at 12:05 PM ^
Is new Call of Duty going to be any good?
Not on Gameboy, lol
September 23rd, 2019 at 12:13 PM ^
It would probably be best if we just practice burying our heads in the sand this year.....
September 23rd, 2019 at 12:21 PM ^
Look at it this way, you always have Star Wars Episode 9 to look forward to this December!...oh, wait a minute.....
September 23rd, 2019 at 12:21 PM ^
Disagree. The worst part is I’m wasting time posting here again and wasting even more time trying to find my posts on the shit mobile site to see if anyone replied.
September 23rd, 2019 at 12:26 PM ^
I think the worst part is that our troubles are again creating dissension and open carping in the alumni player base. It's like watching your mom and dad fight.
September 23rd, 2019 at 12:29 PM ^
You're writing off Juwan Howard before he's coached a game? Really?
September 23rd, 2019 at 12:29 PM ^
The worst part of all of this is that over the last 20 years Wisconsin has become the program Michigan should be, except we would have better players everywhere other than RB where Wisconsin has always managed to be elite.
Wisconsin reminds me of our teams under Bo and Mo, except we had way better talent at D, QB and receivers. Thus why Wisconsin loses to OSU every time, but we likely would compete.
Twice now we are falling prey to "if you can't beat them, try to join them" to our detriment. First back in 2007 after App St./Oregon, we decided to go full spread under mediocre hc RR and disaster.
Now after the OSU debacle last year, Harbaugh is trying to join the RPO train with mediocre oc Gattis. Disaster.

I've become a Liverpool FC fan. Started watching them during the Rich Rod years and have kept it up since then.

well now you have baseball.

Switch over to being an Ohio State or Alabama fan. Their bandwagons have plenty of room.

If ever a post deserved Bolivia...

I'ts OK man, I'm a LI boy and I'm in the same boat. The Jets AND Giants suck and the Mets probably won't pull out a miracle to make the playoffs and the Knicks will remain the most frustrating franchise in sports while also having prohibitive ticket prices. But, Michigan football could also turn it around too. I mean, it looks like they won't and everything is on fire, but you never know with college teams sometimes.
Plus, all that doesn't mean M hoops is going to struggle. It could be an interesting year. I have confidence in the core and Juwan and the new guys. Have some faith, brother.
With all that being said - the Rugby World Cup and premiere league soccer are excellent viewing and are very entertaining. I recommend. I've already watched more RWC than NFL this year and I'm very pleased (I watched Jets-Browns, an NFL product so bad I have no plans to watch another one for God knows how long).
September 23rd, 2019 at 12:47 PM ^
Also - go see Hustlers, it's f---ing great. Shit, I'll probably go see the Downton Abbey movie next week while football is on, I'M HYPED FOR THAT BRO!!!! I'm not even kidding.
