World Cup Day 8 Open Thread

Submitted by skurnie on

World Cup Day 8 is here. I never want this World Cup to end. England/Uruguay is the big matchup today but I suspect Columbia/Cote d'Ivoire will be a very competitive match.

Group C

Columbia - Cote d'Ivoire 12pm EDT (ESPN / Univision / Watch ESPN)

Group D

Uruguay - England 3pm EDT (ESPN / Univision / Watch ESPN)

Group C

Japan - Greece 6pm EDT (ESPN / Univision / Watch ESPN)

Like Spain it would be hilarious if England did not advance out of group play

I am tired of the English media pimping the English national team like they are the best team ever. All the tabloids do is wax poetic about how GREAT England is in soccer, they're not that good

You'll have to link me to these English media outlets that were boasting about them before the WC. Even the fans I've interacted with were incredibly pessimistic about their chances. Most newspapers I read reflected that sentiment.

Now, English fans may boast when comparing themselves to American soccer and its fans. But not so much with their national team recently.

Old Roy so predictable...Barkley on in the 61st minute against Italy.

England need Gerrard making runs up forward. Where is Lambert?

I don't like England much, but I can't really stand the way Uruguay play - they do all of the things that make so many Americans hate soccer and get just plain lucky. I hope England gets another.
