Woodson wants The Game played at 3:30 or later annually

From the Det News.

But he, along with Eddie George are working together to generate interesting (sic) in moving the Michigan-Ohio State game to a regular starting time at 3:30 p.m. or later. The game Saturday is at noon.

The two worked on a Heisman Trophy commercial together and Woodson brought it up to George. George agreed to allow Woodson to use his name in a Facebook post to promote this option.

“This rivalry, for the history that it’s always had, it deserves primetime, and 12 o’clock is not primetime,” Woodson said. “We got a lot of response. Most say it’s tradition or it’s too cold. Ah, come on, man, we all lived in the Midwest. The cold is not an issue. And as far as tradition, it’s the game, not the time. Let’s start this movement.”

I love Chuck as much as everyone else but I gotta disagree here. The game is The Game, it by definition is prime time regardless of time. Toe meets leather at noon. If you want to televise it, fine. If not, that's OK too.

This is something that WD would never have to worry about, but plenty of Michigan students are from far away, and it's hard enough to get back home for the game in time since it's been moved to thanksgiving. Later is better Having said that, a real 'movement' would be like "let's make it 5pm, fuck what the networks or the conference wants"

I feel a little better about my weekend drinking plan if the first beer on Saturday is at 3:30 instead of noon.  Not that there's anything wrong with beer at noon, but, well, I dunno, my stamina isn't what it used to be.  So there's that.

Was at a soccer match in Tallahassee today and got to talking with people around me about the game. They were all rooting for Michigan to beat Urban Meyer. And they all knew that the game was at noon. The time slot has come to be associated with the game, and I think it's great. I could accept it at 3:30, but why? You get the whole nation watching in the current time slot.

I agree with Chuck - being in Sacramento, I have to wake up, crack a beer, pour a bowl of CTC, get my morning wood under control and....oh yeah, turn the damn game on!

3:30 or later for THE GAME please.  Full disclosure, I like the noon games when we're playing lesser opponents.  Like Staee for instance.

Don't the networks buy the right to set the time of games as part of their broadcast rights?  I don't think the schools get to decide.   Also, if it was after the MSU game and MSU won their game the Michigan/Ohio State doesn't have broader interest with a 12:00 start the conference championship is potentially still at play.

The Big Game !!! I know you guys aren't going to feel sorry for me but I am in Maui now ...ahead of next year's basketball invitational and this requires me to get up before 7AM tomorrow to catch the kickoff! And where am I going to find friends of Michigan to view the game with ?

Is great and all, but something things can be improved. Don't just keep it at noon since it was done since the 90s. Move it to 3:30, get more exposure, more recruits can come, ect. Noon games are too early and don't have the same vibe. Minus OSU of course, but I feel the energy would be more at 3:30. And like others have said, not everyone is coming from a 20 mile radius of A2. Having season tickets and living in Columbus, noon starts are brutal.

In recruiting efforts on Left Coast as well. Having lived here for 30 years...I kind of enjoy the early start time...get u right into the Day! But I think HS kids might look at it differently?

If they controlled their own destiny to get to Indy it would be nice to have a late start. For some reason this weekend is bad no matter what is going on in my life (worked weekends or family stuff) so there is always a pro and con no matter the kick. It's been awhile since they had more than bragging rights to play for. Go Blue!
