WLA

Just out of curiosity, how did you come together? I'm under the assumption that members are from all around the country. And also, what's the deal with certain members? I remember hearing all the time from guys like Dex and Keegan.. and now it's a little bit quiet from them. Anyways, just wondering.

We "know" each other from being long-time readers/posters on this blog. We do live from coast to coast

This isn't directed at you in particular, turbo (who I now remember as beantown), as much as a good opportunity to make a couple points. I think a lot of the new commenters, readers, etc. who either skipped the haloscan portion of the old site or just now are finding Brian are a little misguided about the "WLA".

1. It's just a blog

- We're just a group of people who always commented on HaloScan and ended up writing our own blog rather than crowd MGoBlog threads with Barwis erotic fiction

2. It's not a hive mind

- Technically, we don't have any unifying goals or beliefs. If you read the site, we may be similar but there's a lot of difference expressed in our opinions. I guess the only unifying theme we have is "be rational" and don't "be that guy" on the interwebs.

3.  How we came together

- I started posting WLA in March, but didn't update very often. I wanted other people to write with me, and sent out the password to some people.

4. It is totally and completely gay

- Oh yeah, we love men. And jolly ranchers.

As far as certain people being quiet and others posting a lot, it's nothing pre-determined or anything. It just happens.

What in the world is the WLA.

I've never heard of them before.

Sounds like a terrorist organization. Are they leftist gorilla fighters, or right wing totalitarians?

WLA is the code name for MGoBlog's daring, highly trained special mission force. It's mission: to defend rationality and basic logic against insane posters, ruthless fans determined to drive down legitimate discussion with endless posts containing ellipses, sub-par psychological analysis, and stories about cuban cigars.

I handle-jacked** "dex" and posted something stupid.

Not two days later, I woke up in a pool of my own blood with the words "only one Dex" carved into my chest.  Take it from me-- best not to ask any questions about "WLA."

** I miss Haloscan.  As annoying as handle-jacking was, I sort of liked having a single message board after every post where the community posted.  Alas.

Turbo,

I didn't realize that was you, but I had wondered where you went, always loved hearing from you.  Welcome to the WLA.

I've been really busy trying to finish school and I have two big quarters to finish, then I'm done.  I also have a job that requires a lot of hours. One sad note is that some of my inspiration has been lost in the last few weeks, mainly from the schedule.  Some of that is from everyone else posting great stuff.  I don't want to put up some crap to fill space if all these guys have great stuff.  Plus, I live in NW Washington, so I am trying to get in the last little bit of nice weather before the inevitable 5 months of shitty weather hits.  I'm sure once my social life is destroyed by school and work I will be posting to give myself a "break" from the monotony of suck that will be my life.

School can be terrible, especially if you take it seriously. However, being in the real world is exponentially worse. hat's off to ya for taking a break. like i said, i took one when the new mgoblog came up only to return months later needing it, wanting it, and loving it more than ever. it's comforting to know that so many other people's mental and emotional state affected by mich football.

it's already getting cold as hell up in here in new england. hibernation begins shortly. good to see that you're alive.

Henne, Josh as in me?  Been busy as all crazy hell with real life stuff, only get to communicate via text messages on Twitter.

And Keegan had a better experience than I at the Miami game.  I was hoping for a Rusty Trombone and didn't even get plain ol' reach around. Selfish bastards.

I bribed my way in with OTPHJs and other favors.  I posted on MgoBlog under another name before, but decided that if I was going to post things on WLA that some people MAY take offense to or commit trademark/copyright infringement, I might as well not use a handle that is basically my name.  Slight anonymity, but not much.

Oh, and if anyone knows where I can download some PSU games from this year to finish up my PSU-UM pregame video, let me know.  I have UM footage, but no PSU footage except against UM.

Was nice because it's self-policing to an extent. For instance, That Darn Wolverine would have been handle-jacked all afternoon until nobody could tell if it was really him or a fake one, and he'd be rendered worthless.

Also, you could say really vile shit to people and just use a different name.

Can you imagine the spate of busted leg fatass Weis jokes here if we still had Haloscan? For that reason, I miss it.

Nice to see this place less "underground". The content and comments have become easier to explain when my wife's (or worse-kids) reading over my shoulder.
