not so special

You have to put special in " " when talking about UMs "special" teams

attempt a short field goal. We can't always go for it on 4th down....
September 18th, 2010 at 1:42 PM ^
Honestly with this offense they probably could. When any play can be a TD, any play could get a first down.

Had they ran it on 3rd instead, playing for 2 downs they probably would have converted.

they could make a relatively short fg?
September 18th, 2010 at 1:38 PM ^
it would have tied the f*ing game. go back into your hole. we've got enough trolls around here.

Because he is not as smart as you since he wanted to see what a different kicker can do and you need to develope the special teams?
September 18th, 2010 at 1:44 PM ^
Because he wanted to try our other kicker and see if he could step up at game time.
September 18th, 2010 at 1:45 PM ^
You have to get the kickers involved at some point so they can gain experience/confidence. What better time than in the first half of a winnable game. As opposed to being near the end of regulation in a conference game with the game on the line.
September 18th, 2010 at 3:54 PM ^
We need a kicker with a little confidence and the only way to make that happen is to make a couple during an actual game. At that time of the game, against an opponent like UMass, it was the perfect opportunity for a confidence builder. It didn't work out, but the rationale was solid.

he wanted 3 points?

the field goal kicking will costs us games this year
September 18th, 2010 at 1:55 PM ^
even more than it already is!
September 18th, 2010 at 1:53 PM ^
And he knows what the hell he is doing. PERIOD
September 18th, 2010 at 1:58 PM ^
coaching right now.
September 18th, 2010 at 2:08 PM ^
He had to give Seth a shot because he had yet to attempt a FG this year. Now that he knows that we have 2 poor kickers we should see a lot more situations where we go for it instead of taking a chance on 3.
September 18th, 2010 at 2:49 PM ^
Agree with the other posters. RR has to blood the kicker so he can start hitting (I hope). Only pressure kicks teach how to make pressure kicks on the field.
September 18th, 2010 at 3:24 PM ^
Lets work with facts. Kris Pauloski was 9 for 9 and kicked a 50 yarder in the spring game in front of 55,000. RR does not play him because is decided to only look at two kickers this summer. Makes no sense!
September 18th, 2010 at 5:38 PM ^
Look Kris or Mr. or Mrs. Pauloski (whichever you are), you can keep making this point thread after thread, but I think most of us rest assured that RR is not playing you (or your son) for good reason. Let it go.
September 18th, 2010 at 5:34 PM ^
because he wanted 3 points that would've tied the game & you should be able to trust your kicker to make a 39 yard field goal. But I'm sure you're smarter than the head coach so we should just listen to you.
September 18th, 2010 at 7:08 PM ^
A- This wasnt Gibbons.
B- He wanted to see if Seth can make it in the game since he was making them in practice.
Apparently he cant, well not today at least. Eventually someones going to have to step up. Is this 1 for 5 on FG attempts this year?
September 18th, 2010 at 7:12 PM ^
Did you expect him to completely stop kicking field goals two games into the season?
