When Urban is worried about the weather

Submitted by Koop on November 12th, 2022 at 11:38 AM

What does is say when Urban Meyer, in Columbus on Fox Big Noon Kickoff, is asked for a prediction in The Game and his response is “check the weather in 10 days?”

… or when tOSU is playing Indiana at home, where IU hasn’t won since 1986, and there are snowflakes in the air, and the pundits are all like 👀

Or, stated differently, how many ways can people say without saying that Ohio State is Soft?

Discuss.

It’s fun watching them arrive at the same excuse.  They can’t bend it with mental gymnastics, weather can beat them and they seem to have accepted it.  Midwest football power can’t play when it’s cold or snowing or raining.  MIDWEST….

Started snowing in Columbus. Will it force OSU to run the ball and take Stoud out of play for a 2nd straight game?

They'll be missing RB Henderson - and a couple of OL - again today and some of their fans are starting to question Day and the coaches on why they've had so many injuries in practice this year

I always thought Urban's teams were soft too, but he found ways to weasel victories every year. Point being, just because they are soft doesn't mean they aren't talented and dangerous. Coach Harbaugh needs to stay sharp like he was kast year because Day will fire everything he's got and you can bet they've been practicing for The Game all year.

I really love this situation.  After beating OSU last year, they went from a nearly unstoppable juggernaut to a glass cannon.  They're highly rated, but everyone questions them.  The 'soft' criticism won't die.  Hah, I hope that's running through their heads all month long.

If we beat the Bucks again, and the weather is lousy, I can hear Gene Smith arguing that they should be in the playoffs too because they would win a rematch in nice weather.

Thank you. I was too lazy to look it up.  That is a significant improvement.

Northwestern 206 rushing yards running the wildcat.  PSU 31 points.  Again, stellar stats against teams without an offensive pulse.  Interesting mix.  Thanks again.

I guess you could say it’s a comment about OSU being soft, or he might be saying Michigan is clearly better at running the ball so weather conditions that would favor a running team could shape the outcome of the game. Sort of like the year it poured the entire second half of the MSU game, the weather played a role in that one.
It’s no secret that the weather could give us a nice advantage. That’s why there are threads on MGo and 11W discussing the weather for 11/26.
