Whatever Happened To . . .

I was thinking back on some of the targets we were really high on and some who even committed, only to later decommit. Wondering if the board had heard anything of past targets/decommits and their whereabouts. A few come to mind:

Aubrey Solomon, Raylen Wilson, Andrew Rappleyea, Kevonte Henry, Mario Eugenio, Otis Reese,

Are there any you can think of that it worked out for or didn't?

What if they had stayed?

Is the Michigan difference really that significant and do we look to compare our program and culture to  say "look at what we did for David Ojabo" or for TE's and look at what a shitty job Miami did with Mallory?

Schools negative recruit us all the time, we need to call them out on their shitty development of players and how we transform them into phenomenal men of high quality and pro athletes.

(Obviously he's going to be rich soon) but If Xavier Worthy had stayed, we might be back to back National Champs.

Go to touch the banner, there is a whole page on past recruits where they are that goes back like 15 years. I'd link Magnus' site if i knew how!

He came to mind but I left him for you and went with Lancelot. By sheer coincidence I watched (again) Jimmy Page talking about Wray just a couple of days ago. When Page is playing air guitar to someone's song I think it's safe to say they are on the short list of players.

From Tennessee's page:

2021 – SENIOR (5TH YEAR)

Saw action in four games, posting eight tackles and half a tackle for loss ... Recorded a pair of tackles at #4 Alabama (10/23) ... Made second appearance of season at #11 Florida (9/25), did not record any stats ... Tied his career-high with six total tackles (3 solo, 3 asst.) in season debut vs. Tennessee Tech (9/18).

I'd love it if someone with experience or knowledge about the recruiting world could tell me about negative recruiting. Does it actually work? Do recruits listen to this kind of stuff?

I personally tend to discount anything someone tells me when they begin trashing someone else behind their back. When I was first out of grad school I had two job offers. One of the places started telling me all the reasons I didn't want to take the other job instead of telling me why I should take theirs. I took the other job.

(I'm not including the "Harbaugh might not even be there to coach you" as negative recruiting. There's enough truth in that to make it acceptable.)

Seems like Solomon just isn’t very good, I doubt staying here would have changed that. I also don’t see how Xavier getting 3 targets a game would have changed much either.

What Xavier Worthy have you been watching? He would have been that deep threat receiver we've been looking for years. He's a serious weapon down at Texas despite your 3 catches a game assessment. He's going to easily be a first rounder if not a lottery pick. If he was on this team now, we would have no weaknesses on offense with the O line, QB, RB's and TE's and Receivers we have.  IJS

I agree that we didn't find ways to get Nico, Black or DPJ the ball enough. I see why it can be a bit discouraging because we haven't used receivers to their potential but it doesn't mean I don't want them. Jabril Peppers was a dynamic weapon who I thought was used terribly as well. I disagree with the TCU take because we were the better team who was looking past a very, very good team because we wanted revenge on Georgia. They prepared for us but we didn't prepare for them. We got hit in the mouth and by the time we began to play Michigan football there wasn't enough time too to catch up. All in all I'm happy with the results, even though it took time to get here.
