What will get M back into the BCS 25?
A post totally without linkage, argument, supporting evidence, or otherwise. It doesn't even have any Denard!
What will Michigan need to do to crack the Top 25 this season, and how soon can they crack it? Will winning the first two do it? The first three? Will we need a conference win? Are we starting so low that unless we get on pace for 10 wins, we won't get there till season's end, or at all?
What do you think?
I think we can be there by the end of week three if we start 3-0.

The 3-9 hangover *will* affect pollsters minds, but not as much as "the Horror" and the blowout loss to Oregon affected the preseason #5 team in those same minds.

For a good comparison though, probably look at how long it took an overhyped Minnesota team to do it last year.

Rankings don't matter! They're subjective crap meant to hype games for TV. All that matters is who finishes #1 & #2. Since Notre Dame already has one slot and Florida the other it's a moot point.

Michigan will be ranked if they beat Western Michigan by a decent score (cover the spread) and then beat Notre Dame. As a program that is only one year removed from a New Year's Bowl victory, Michigan will get the same treatment that Notre Dame gets when they beat us.

(1) We need to dominate WMU (preferably by hanging 40+ on them)
(2) ND needs to beat Nevada; if ND loses to Nevada, we will get no credit for beating ND
If this happens, we could sneak into the 25 spot. Otherwise, I think we will have to wait until the MSU game. No one is going to give us any credit for beating EMU or IN.

I think before we start talking about this we should focus on beating Western first.

I'm not on the team, so whatever I focus on has nothing to do with how well they play.

We all know that the hat we wear, or what we eat at the tailgate, or what our facial hair looks like, or what we post on this blog is the ONLY thing that has to do if we win or lose.

that RR and company (ie players and coaches) are focusing on WMU is enough so that our minds can wonder into the hypothetical from time to time.
However.....having said that, I think the key to UM getting back into the top 25 is having all of us mgobloggers focusing on beating WMU......if you falter even for a moment or ponder what the future could hold....we fail!
EDIt* Shit....wolvinla types faster than me! +1 for great minds thinking alike.....or fools seldom differing, who knows.

I believe it will be enough if we upset Penn State(if they are still ranked highly)and have no more then two losses.

I think we would have to 5-0 to get into the the 25 unless some ridiculus shit happens, but it has to be the right teams losing. If a top ten loses then they will drop to 15-25 range. We would need three or four 15-25 ranked teams to lose bad games in order to get up there.

We would need to be at least 4-0. If ND is 2-2 then we might not be in the top 25. But if MSU is 3-1 or better and we win there to be 5-0 we will be ranked. Personally I doubt we will be ranked until the middle of next year.

should do it ... 3-0 if we r really lucky

A pair of 20 point wins to open the season will do it.

jump on the "rank us" mentality too often. After The Horror by the fourth week after beating a good penn state team alot of us were wondering why we werent on the polls. Same with the basketball team after Duke last season. Its an unnecessary frustration. We shouldnt think about it until it actually happens, i have the same philosophy regarding ass.
