Contact to the head. Apparently had to make sure he wasn't concussed.

Attempt to deceive?

Although it is irritating in a "trying to run the clock" situation, I am 100% for stuff like that after being present at the Shane Morris game.

Wasn’t a particularly vicious hit but I get it. This should probably happen multiple times in each game but doesn’t.

Helmet to Helmet.

But no penalty called?

Exactly my question. If they saw it, why no call?
November 21st, 2020 at 11:16 PM ^
It was head up vs head up incidental contact.

It wasn't the crown of the helmet, it was the defenders facemask area that made contact, and Charbonnet was not a defenseless player.

Except you see this all the time without a guy taken out of the game. They didn't take out the defensive player, did they?
I understand safety worries but it was pretty glancing contact as far as helmet hits go and shouldn't only apply to the offense.

Before the refs stopped the game, there was a TV shot of him shaking his head like he was trying to get rid of some cobwebs.

Yeah I saw that and had flashbacks.

Refs are required to send off anyone showing signs and symptoms of a concussion. They don’t do it very often (most times it’s bad enough that trainers do it first), but it’s a requirement of the job and a good one.

It was a pause to let the coaches remember that Haskins should play more. #refshelpingcoaches

Very strange call. Basic logic would dictate that both players involved in the hit would have to sit out, not just one right? White used his helmet to hit and he got to stay in the game

Remember after Shane Morris incident we installed someone in the booth to look for and call out possible concussions? I'm guessing it was that.

He went head to head (incidental) and then was shaking his head like he was trying to clear cobwebs... I noticed it live and muttered something about Shane Morris.
I was at the Shane Morris game and think this is a good thing for refs to do.

I also noticed the head shake. But he did it other times later in the game, including a time when he just went into the game, before the play was called. So it might just be a way of loosing himself up to get ready to play.

Sadly, I also saw him shaking his head later in the game as if to clear cobwebs. In an abundance of caution, if the ref makes you leave the game after a helmet to helmet hit, they should also require the player to go to the tent for a concussion screening.

Yeah, it didn't seem that bad of a hit but I understand the concern about safety.
